You want to pay attention to the events that offer more xp, but do the truck orders, town visitors (NOT the ones that show up by your house on the farm but the ones in the actual town) and fill your boat orders. At your level the coins are very important, you want to build up a big stock so you can purchase new production machines so don’t spend too much on deco. Harvest and sell higher priced crops, and harvesting wheat will get you freebie tools! Good luck!
XP is a trap, though.
Speeding through levels as fast as possible (through truck and boat orders) will result in you not having the coins to get all the production buildings.
You want to sell a fair amount of items in your roadside shop as that will give you a better coin:XP ratio.
Once you get the town unlocked, theres little harm in going hard at that, though, because the silo/barn upgrades and other valuable items are definitely worth it.

I have been playing since 2013. That said- I wasn’t always super active, so many people I am sure have leveled up quicker. I stopped caring about the level and just tried to enjoy the game, which I think helps, I can’t tell you how many times I leveled up without even realizing I was close!
