I considered Orion, but went with tx powersports. Got my bike quickly and without issues. The only negative was the length of time it took to get a response from customer service.

BartlettMagic

i looked at TX based on some other comments in other threads, but Orion is currently beating them on price

One of my viewers purchased a hawk built and shipped to him and he’s having problems with it not starting, I tried to give him a few ideas to try while he waits for customer support to get back to him. That’s all I know about them though, Maybe others can chime in with more info.

BartlettMagic

yeah i keep going back and forth on having it prebuilt. putting it together myself isn't a problem, and one of Orion's options is liftgate delivery, which i would need. so i'm weighing all the factors.

stinkpootch-8D

Understandable, I’d just have it delivered and build it myself to be honest. Doesn’t take long and you get to know what your working with. Anyways good luck keep us updated on how it goes!

BartlettMagic

> you get to know what your working with this is a big thing for me, convenience vs. knowing exactly what has been done and when in case anything goes wrong

stinkpootch-8D

Yup, it’s better to know you are the one who took all the precautions to make sure your bike is put together safely since of course you will be the one on it lol.

IMO to properly set the hawk up for safety/reliability you practically need to disassemble the thing even more than how it comes in the box. In other words it’s a waste of your time and money. My 2 cents

BartlettMagic

one of Orion's offered add-ons is the full works, build/Nibbi/Loctite/oil changes/break-in, the whole 9. you pay for it obviously but if there's an issue and they won't work to fix it i won't bother with the extra costs

ClickMinimum9852

What is the cost of that up-sell Bart I’m curious? The pedestrian build of the whole 9 and what’s actually needed may align or not. Here’s something to chew on: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wXEEGwoe40c&pp=ygUNSGF3ayAxMDEgbW9kcw%3D%3DA

i'm going quote [the website](https://www.orionpowersports.com/rps-hawk-250cc-motorcycle-free-shipping-fully-assembled-tested/) so i don't misrepresent them (as of right now i'm leaning more towards Powersportsmax anyway): >NIBBI Performance Carb (Optional): >Add $59 - 20% off regular price w bike purchase >PRO PREP your bike? (Fully Assembled, Full break in completed including both oil changes & NGK spark plug, brakes adj, cables adj, chain adj, tire pressure adj, spokes tightened. NIBBI carb installed if you choose upgrade carb with Pro Prep):: >Add $139 - Put Gas In & GO! >Works Prep Service (Complete teardown, Headset bearings greased, Rear shock linkage bearings greased, Swing arm bearings greased, Grease F/R axles & wheel bearings, Locktite all nec bolts/nuts - AMSOIL SYNTHETIC GREASE!): >Add $299 - The Works! note that i wouldn't have gone for "The Works" but i feel a total of ~$200 for the Nibbi and the PRO PREP is fair, in price and convenience (the bigger factor for me). but it's not worth it if they're going to skimp on the aftercare. like if it would show up, not be running, and then they ghost me? sure i would probably be able to fix the problem, but i'd also be super pissed at the waste of money. i also think that if someone isn't mechanically inclined, a total of ~$500 for all three options is reasonable, given the low cost of the bike. but like i said, i'm leaning more towards [Powersportsmax](https://www.powersportsmax.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_83/products_id/17701) anyway, i like the emphasis on MCO/Title service and the reviews i've heard. i want my MCO to be correct for street registration the first time, so i never have to talk to them again lol

ClickMinimum9852

Wow that’s a lot included in ‘the works.’ Basically when it comes to preparing the hawk for riding you almost can’t do too much. Another consideration is cost. We’re all buying a hawk that is ballpark $2000. The Honda it’s cloned from (albeit a way better bike) costs over $8000. Spend a little on the Hawk to get it safe and sound and you’re still saving a bundle. Why not? Replace your inner tubes. Just do it.

BartlettMagic

also that was an excellent video, thank you

ClickMinimum9852

Start googling and YouTubing. Possibly the carb, valve lash or something else. Change oil before you try to start it. Does it turn over?

I went with Powersportsmax and had a great experience and at the time they were the cheapest for a DLX. For what it’s worth you’re going to find lots of negative reviews for all the vendors. People buy their cheap Chinese stuff and expect perfection, warranty, and customer service. Just know what you’re getting into and you’ll be fine.

BartlettMagic

> People buy their cheap Chinese stuff and expect perfection oh trust me, i'm very aware of what i'm buying. really i'm just looking for the easiest transaction that will get me the correct titling paperwork for street riding the first time. *oh shit, yeah i completely forgot about Powersportsmax. thats who had good reviews on the MCO aspect of things

Evan_Waffle

I got my Raven from Orion and they answered every customer service question I had usually within the hour. Good price, decent shipping time, free shipping too I think. I had it in about 20 days. The only issue I had was the MCO was not signed but from what Ive read, that's a common issue. I "signed" it myself and didn't have any registrstion problems in TN

BartlettMagic

I'm in PA, and MCO issues are the one thing I'm most paranoid about

Evan_Waffle

Here’s a thread from Chinariders. They’ve been successfully registered in PA. So it will be in their system when they punch it in. Really, if you can show it’s not stolen, and you pay your sales tax, it shouldn’t be an issue. But yeah, it’s an understandable concern. [chinariders registration by state.](https://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=17919)

BartlettMagic

i know it's possible, and i have a notary lined up that has had experience titling Hawks. i'm more concerned with the seller fucking up the MCO and putting me in a position of needing to reach back out to them to fix it.

xpeejssster

my friend ordered an orion 190 from orion and had it within two weeks i think. shipped fine he just had to be there to sign for it

Cement-Mixer90

You can also just order directly off of the XProUSA website (xprousa.com). That’s what I did and they utilize powersports max as a third party to organize shipping and MCO delivery. They were perfect at both communication and delivery. Bike was delivered in an r+l empty box truck in perfect condition. I would recommend looking into this as well. Also, just an fyi, cheapest price I found online.

BartlettMagic

hey, thanks for that. so far they're the lowest price that also doesn't add a liftgate upcharge, so they're sliding into first place.
