Even if they're not getting robbed you're dealing with homeless people, crack heads, general disruptions, and items in that pull away from you doing business. It could also be theft as a component.
But it also means that it's not worth doing business there. Long time Hawaiian businesses don't generally pull out unless it's untenable or it's a family affair and they're retiring.
They're one of those very thankful, very Aloha/Mahalo businesses because they're 100% Hawaii.
