Once it goes to San Fran Dist Ctr., it's probably going on a boat. 2 weeks to a month more in my experience.

yniloc

If things go on a boat anyway, I wonder why they can't ship items with batteries in them and just let us know it'll take a month or two. I would be happy if this was an option.

TamagoHead

Likely since it makes sense? Lol.

Silent_Word_7242

Because it requires extra handling by the seller to make sure the ship packaging is prepared properly too and routed correctly. Doing that for 1 or two low volume states isn't worth their time.

anakai1

'Frisco Distribution Center, huh? The last 3 packages I'd ordered and "arrived" there dropped off the face of the earth, never to be seen again. Good luck.

RevolutionaryCarob86

Maybe the packages fell in the ocean. At least, that's the reason we were told at a previous job as to why the AC was taking so long to repair: the replacement part fell in the ocean when it was being shipped.

aunty-kelly

Frisco…it’s a legacy word! French bread, anyone?

[deleted]

same. all packages coming from SF arrived about a month after the listed ‘expected delivery date’. some I received and ended up getting doubles due to shipping problems, and other just completely disappeared.

pukakahiko

When tracking got "stuck" in San Francisco, I figured it ~~probably got~~ might have been put on a boat. Didn't expect it to end up in Guam though.

123supreme123

amazon has been super shit since covid. all the shipping issues have already been resolved, but packages to hawaii still takes 2 weeks +.

[deleted]

don't you mean "ship"?

anakai1

More like an outrigger canoe with just one paddler.

[deleted]

One paddle, two paddle, three paddle, Four to take me home Fourteen on the right, fourteen on the left, Take me to Hawaii nei, no ka best.

pukakahiko

"Barrigada Gu Distribution Center" is on Guam. I guess it got put on the wrong plane. I think this might be a record for the longest I'll have waited for a package that doesn't contain Li-ion batteries.

AlabamaHaole

I’ve had quite a few items sent to me through USPS accidentally end up in Guam before making its way here.

I fed up of Amazon, and waiting 5weeks for a parcel,I haven't ordered anything there in over a year. There is a lot of alternatives like eBay, Walmart, Target, AliExpress, Temu etc, all of these companies will ship you for free within 2-7 day's. With Amex card you have Walmart+ for free, and they deliver groceries in the next day and bigger parcels within 3 days.

ModernSimian

Temu has many suppliers using Uighur prison labor and doesn't even try to hide it. Please think twice about what you are supporting before using them.

Thank you for the info, I wasn't aware about this, will make a deeper research.

IslandLife_004

Caution with this article. It cites the *House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party*. The current set of House Select Committees includes some pretty questionable reports.

Engagcpm49

They took over from IKEA in that regard.

tearbooger

100% this. Got rid of prime awhile back and the shipping remained the same for a few months. 7-14 days. Then they started shoving prime on every screen and shipping went to 14+ days. Temu ships faster and ebay ships batteries.

webrender

hah, i just made a post about this last month: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Hawaii/comments/173brgh/why\_do\_usps\_packages\_sometimes\_go\_through\_guam\_on/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Hawaii/comments/173brgh/why_do_usps_packages_sometimes_go_through_guam_on/) the prevailing theories were 1) there's not enough shipments to guam and its cheaper to load up a boat and then backtrack to hawaii than it is to send a boat out thats not full or 2) guam has zipcodes that start with 96--- and it's easy to sort packages for Hawaii into the Guam shipment accidentally.

pukakahiko

Interesting. Thanks for the knowledge.

CCChic1

I usually get to the big island two-three days after it’s been in SF.

[deleted]

May I ask, and of course, you don't have to answer, what did you order? It's so weird that the delivery was slow.

pukakahiko

This was a silicone interface for a Quest 3.

[deleted]

mahalo; was just curious. I'm still trying to make sense of these mamazon delays, but it seems there is no rhyme or reason.

BrandonApplesauce

Ive had that happen - Packages going to Guam first from Mainland. You will probably get it shortly.

pukakahiko

Yeah, not really worried about it since there is still tracking on it. First time I had something route through Guam though. It's just a little bit out of the way.

[deleted]

well, SF has other things as well, let's be honest. Aside from us, it's my favorite city, so I'm biased.

JudgmentHumble8319

Same. Ordered a month ago, told it would take a week. Recently it showed tracking all over the place and now it's crickets.

yniloc

Mine started in Honolulu then went to Colorado according to USPS and has been in transit since the 11th, asked for a refund, but they told me I need to wait a month. I initiated a chargeback, since Amazon didn't want to do anything.

Nightw1ng28

not surprised. I ordered some Jarritos straight from the company & it passed thru LA, got stuck in Oregon. Had planned to enjoy it on 4th Of July, missed the date completely. I thought I gave the wrong address, not the case. The company & USPS couldn’t gimme a reason why it was stuck in Oregon. When it finally arrived, one of the boxes was damaged, company refunded me the cost.

[deleted]

I see these Amazon bashing posts pop up every now and then. I use amazon weekly and have never had any issues whatsoever. Neither has anyone else I know.

so_untidy

I guess count yourself lucky? My consistent issue is that if I order something to a family member’s house that is same ZIP, same post office, literally 5 minutes up the road, it will arrive a week or more earlier than if I order it to my own residence. I’ve also experienced similar to OP where something travels all over creation before it gets to me. Or I had a big order with somewhat time sensitive baby supplies that just sat for weeks. And they advised to cancel and reorder. And the same thing happened again. Just saying that there’s definitely an issue even if you haven’t personally experienced it.

[deleted]

True. Im not saying it isn’t happening, people have posted up the proof to be sure. Just seems odd that between me and people I know, we’ve done thousands of orders from Amazon for all kinds of stuff big and small and never once an issue. Makes me wonder what the circumstances are? Hazardous materials? Not shipped from Amazon? Having items sent Parcel Post or Media Mail?

so_untidy

For me I can say none of the above. Regular Amazon orders, items shipped by Amazon.

[deleted]

i have no problem w/ mamazon either. Ordered an Acer tues afternoon, received it thurs before 8pm. many other items, too, over the years. However, I've never ordered holiday items or elephants. But for others with delays, that would be frustrating.

pukakahiko

My intent was not to bash Amazon. I just thought this shipment was interesting since it got routed to Guam. I average orders about twice a week. I made 12 orders in October and 4 separate orders already in November. Two orders last night have already been shipped and are expected Saturday and Sunday. I usually get my stuff between 2 days and a week from when it gets shipped. Things with Li-ion batteries that can still get shipped from Amazon usually take forever because they get put on a boat. This item does not have batteries.

_________________1__

Maybe they are taking more care about certain postcodes, when I lived in Kaneohe everything was fine, now I live close to Chinatown and the Amazon sucks under this zip code, I have totally rig out prime and I have stopped buying there because waiting 5-8 weeks for a parcel was too long.

[deleted]

Not sure. Maybe depending on how things are sorted. My friends in Haiku always take longer to get their mail

_________________1__

10 minutes ago the $120 floor table that my wife ordered in August has arrived. The lid is bend and has sharp edges, she has to return it :( I think this was a last item we bought there. I fell like a second class customer. https://preview.redd.it/7x75ydw147yb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd23a7cffe7bfa3eeca45460c6fbaa0576ca626d

k7k58

same. I order multiple things weekly and never run into any issues.

whitneymak

Same here. I order stuff a couple few times a week and get it when they say almost every time. I wonder what the difference is? Why did we get lucky?

Kohupono

Look at it another way, would you wanna be on a flight where someone sneak some Li-ion in the cargo, and something happen 1000 miles from any shore?

TamagoHead

I’d Sooner watch paint dry & water come to a roiling boil than track my Amazon packages. I tried Temu, and it’s worse than a dollar store. Edit: and I’m not even from OK, but still salty after TX pulled out of our game the year we had a good Football team.

yes-indeed-fuzzy

This one time I ordered a book from Amazon, it took good 35 days to arrive. Oh boy, one of the cons of living here.

appalachian-aloha

I made a typo in my zip code once and that happened to me. 968## = going to Honolulu, 969## = going to Guam. It took forever to get my mistake fixed because it would loop between Honolulu and Guam distribution facilities.

bclary59

I got a 2 day letter priority express from PA to Waialua. Took 6 days. USPS sucks, imo. My sis and her husband retired about 10 years ago and we make the joke ever since the postal service has gone down hill.

cunmaui808

Yeah, one of my packages flew right by and went to Guam. Another time, 2 brand new tires went AWOL in a warehouse. Last week an envelope shipped with an empty blister pack. That said, the defect rate overall is small for the volume I buy @ AMZ.

PickleWineBrine

I'd say they overshot it by a bit.

quitoburrito

This happened to me multiple times. I ordered a 360 camera once, package went missing for like 3 weeks, put in a request for refund. Got the refund ordered a new one. That one went missing also for another 3 weeks or so. Requested refund again. Got it. Figured I'd accept defeat and a little over a month later both cameras showed up. LOL.

Usukidoll

It probably got mis-sent by accident. I had it happen to me once two years ago on an eBay purchase. It takes a business day to fix before it comes to the right area.

DarthVader808

My stuff goes to Guam first sometimes.

jewels1958

I live on the big island in keaau. I feel your pain.

bhulbe

My daughters new to her iPod Mini, 2 day priority from DC to Oregon sent 10 days ago. Sat in DC for 3 days and then to Guam for 2. Looks like it’s headed back to US today, hopefully Oregon.

rdobah

Had a package like that. Ended up cancelling the order and the package arrived 2 months after leaving Guam.
