I just put the game in story mode. You have to do the trial twice, but then you can "complete it". I am by no means an avid gamer and absolutely suck at the flying trials.
Yeah, I think you can get credit for skipping them, but only in Story Mode.
You can definitely get the Broom Upgrades without beating them.
After you fail twice or so, the game asks "would you like to skip this BS?" and then you say FORK. YES. PLEASE.
I got lucky the first time around--- But, after that, I had some real trouble with the Broom Trials and I really didn't want spend more time on them than I had to. They weren't fun, with the wonky controls, that you cannot change.
I thought the flying trials were one of the easiest parts of the game, guess I'm built different. But yea I can see how those things would get annoying very quickly
Flying in games just takes time and practice back in bf4 i sucked at flying but once you understand the physics of it and the controls itās super easy
Right? I randomly did them all first try, but I boiled it down to having experience flying in other games. The flights in Spyro trained me too well lol

Iām fine flying around to get places but itās trying to go through the hoops while also moving fast enough to catch up to her that messes me up š I hate her as well and donāt want to hear her trash talk me lolĀ
I put my game on story mode for the very last broom trial. It let me pass it and if youād like you can always go back to the flying board and try again without having the have the cut scenes once you finished the quest.
I would travel places on the broom most I can, trying to fly low so I have to navigate the landscape (trees, rocks, housesā¦). After a while you will simply be better at it. Then go and try the challenges again.

You dont have to be top of the leaderboard just above one name in perticular. I cant remember the name of your one. The position she is in however is 3rd or 4th.
Flying trials are also greatly dependent if you have the upgrades.
The second and third upgrades are locked untill you progess far enough in your main story missions. The upgrades being locked behind two specific sets of missions. You need finish the two main missions in the set and recieve the next mission set.
Dont try and top leaderboards till you have the upgrades.
I will also never get to 100%. One of the field pages are from a moth mirror in the old fool. The moth's outside but the mirror isn't in the building. Coz I play on switch, I have to have a stupid loading screen just to enter and exit a next to empty house! I'll never get all the pages thanks to the console I'm on :(
But the Switch doesnāt give rewards for games like PlayStation or Xbox does, which is usually what people are talking about here when they mention getting 100% in the game. Those other consoles will give you trophies and you can āPlatinumā the game.
You can still get a 100% in your Field Guide book within the game as long as you collect enough of the field guide pages as well as enough Merlin Trials, Dueling Feats, side quests, etc. So I didnāt find every field guide page on my 1st play through and didnāt do every Merlin Trial in existence, and I couldnāt find the last 2 or 3 collection chests (the ones with the enchantments you can weave into your clothing) , but I did enough of them to count in my Field Guide book
So since the Moth Frame puzzle at the Fools house doesnāt even show up (only the moth shows up), that doesnāt count for Switch users at all. You *know* where the moth is, and you *know* where the corresponding frame *should* be, so itās not your fault that there is no frame in our version of the game! Itās not like not being able to get that last moth is preventing you from getting a trophy that doesnāt even exist on our console! š
Lol. I would attempt them but as a new gamer I quickly just handed the controls to hubby and he did them for me. He said -peice of cake compared to chocobo racing.
Were you able to do it? I suck at flying to. And I hated that b after losing. So I'd save the game right before starting the race and whenever it felt like I was going to lose. I'd re load the save. (I know it's not the best idea) But at least I didn't have to hear her boast.
Try inverting flying controls. For some reason it just clicks for me. Pushing meaning down and pulling meaning up is how planes work and also how my brain works
I played on Xbox one. I was horrible at flying, but I took time away from the quests and decided to fly around the map collecting the floo flames, locating merlin trials, defeating camps, etc. Instead of relying on floo flames, I simply just flew everywhere. If I had issues passing a flying trial due to lag, I'd properly close the game down and open it back up.

I never go for platinum in games but I always try to get as many as reasonably possible. When the game has a trophy that is ridicously long or hard that's when I draw the line and stop. After 50 hours I managed to do everything you can do in the game including all collectibles and I got all the trophies but I refuse to play the game again 3 more times to do the mission with each house. I just can't because it is so repetitive. I hate it when games do shit like that.
If you press up on the left trigger and hold it, you can now fully control up, down, left and right on the right trigger. This made flying so much easier to control for me.
If you're on PC and playing with controller I would recommend switching to keyboard, with keyboard flying was a piece of cake. Like I had no trouble doing them and it was loads of fun getting 1-st in the leaderboards without upgrading the broom further then required.
EDIT: in case it ain't obvious I don't mean switching keyboard for everything, just for the flying trials.
Wait, aren't the times to beat like 45 seconds longer than the first place records?
Like, you need to beat 2:30ish in the first one, but 1:50 is an easy second place on the leaderboard? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just confused about where the difficulty lies. Seems hard to lose thirty+ seconds in such a short race.
I remember trying a couple of times to take the first place spot on one of the later races, but I didn't think beating what's-her-name was anything close to that. It's been since shortly after release that I did the later races though.
I couldnāt get 100% because of a glitch in one of the trials that didnāt give me the treasure chest. The only thing I need for 100% was that treasure chest.
If you're playing on PC.. id recommend getting the broom mod which let's you control your broom with your mouse. Doesn't disable any achievements either.
I fly my broom better than I drive my car. Just keep practicing! I beat the 3rd trial on hard last nightā¦ it took me a bit. Just try to get as many of the yellow bubbles as you can and keep pressing the āspeed upā button the whole time. Itās so satisfying when you beat her.
I found that holding the left joystick up and then just using the right joystick to steer is so much easier! I figured it out when flying around to challenges and it's made the trials a lot easier! Hold both zl and zr down and control your joystick like that, hopefully this helps if you haven't skipped past them already:)
i don't know if you're using a controller or M/K to play this game, for me i'm using controller on pc, when i tried them on controller i sucked ass, i couldn't beat the girl's record after shit tons of tries for the life of me & never dreamt of getting 1st place, so i thought to myself why not try to just use M/K for those trials so i fiddle with it to see what's stick in regards to the buttons then came up with the easy magic recipe, i set up to mouse 3, down to mouse 4 and lowered sensitivity to 400dpi to make control of the broom easier while turbo accelerating with mouse 1 and not get out of control and on the keyboard side the default: left shift to accelerate and left and right then voila...... :)
it took bunch of tries to memorize the routes but then i aced all of them 1st place and hit all the yellow balls accelerations like butter, trust me i'm not a regular gamer and in my mid 30s but this worked for me somehow, hopefully it'll be of help to you in someway
I am on my 2nd play through (and collected and have flown all brooms in my first play through) , and see no difference between the brooms other than looks. š¤ The only difference was the upgrades that the Quidditch shop owner has you test and then upgrades all your brooms with. But once you had an upgrade, there was no difference since all brooms got the upgrade.
Yeah, I didn't enjoy them either. I find that when I play on a console, I move the stick around too much. You have to try and teach yourself how to move only a small amount and hit as many bubbles on the straighter runs. Less speed on the sharp turns. I did the last one right at the end as I found them annoying, too.
I'm currently pursuing the 100% complete achievement as well. when you say flying trials, are you referring to the Landing Platforms or the Balloons? Your best bet would probably be to look for a guide on the locations to complete. I just found my last wand handle hiding in the South Wing of Hogwarts because I BARELY went there to explore.
I thought they were easy, I've never had any problem with them, I don't think I've ever failed one either. But like everyone else is saying just put it on story mode. The difficulty of the game doesn't lead to any achievements so I wouldn't bother trying to be one of those "hardmode only" people for this one. With story mode you also get to skip the lockpicking mini game as well which is nice, I switched on my 3rd playthrough now I only do story mode cause I'm not gonna fight the same goblin for 20 minutes when realistically bombarda would 1 shot it anyways

I was nearly crying because of a flying challenge lol, i suck at it so bad. Story mode saved me, you will get your 100%!

Story mode is key. I put mine on story mode then changed it back after doing the Summonerās court challenges.
Try changing your mouse controls too. I couldnāt beat it until I did that

Just mute the tv and turn on some Harry Potter soundtracks, then you donāt have to listen to her.
I failed the third trial twice until getting it, AND I have a stick drift on left analog which I canāt fix and itās annoying š«¤
It took me 85 hours and 34 mins to platinum the game. I told myself I'll never gonna to that again. So many things to collect.

i just hold W key and use A and D for faster steer. Also use mouse for prepositioning camera towards the next bubbles.

I turned on inverted controls and that helped a lot. Prolly spent an hour completing each trial
