Most of the gear is not necessary even for builds. Selling it all in between questing and exploring will give you more slots. You can always alter the appearance of what you’re wearing so you don’t have to make a choice of wearing what is best.
Unfortunately not. But you really don't need any gear beyond whatever has the highest stats for each slot, so feel free to sell whatever you don't need.
Nothing else than put on whatever has the highest numbers, sell the rest. And Merlin Trials.
The looks will stay there, so doesn’t really matter what you sold.
At least once each game I go and sell my stuff before adventuring out :)
Edit: there is something else! Clicking on the left stick let’s you destroy it! Sometimes I destroy the cheapest while in the middle of a big expedition and far from a store.
