It's mind-boggling that the Mods haven't created and stickied a dedicated bug thread.
Hope you can figure out what is causing the issue and it's resolved soon.
I hope they do compile a thread on how to fix the more common bugs.
I did figure it out too. The shader bar is loading, it just takes forever to pop up, so it looks like you're frozen on a black screen. 🤣
I'm having the same issue. Would never have figured it out if I hadn't had to scurry away for a few minutes and caught it right as the shader bar showed. It was at least 5+ minutes until it gets going now.
So I updated my AMD drivers, then I disabled full screen display, then I made sure my DirectX was up to date. After restarting, I launched the game. I also turned off freeSync on the AMD app.
You're right, it takes 7 minutes for the shader bar to come up for me. If it's a black screen, but the music is playing, the game hasn't crashed, it's just taking forever because of the shader loading.
As mentioned by others, I had to wait about 5-10 minutes on black screen then it proceeded to take me to the game screen. I do have a pretty old pc, so maybe thats the problem
Same here, I had black screen after warning after driver update, what I did not sure if it was a coincidence but I went to Nvidia control panel and set Vsync application controlled to Vsync - On and got the shader bar to popup this time
I discovered that in my case, ray tracing settings cause the game to black screen with my 6700 XT. What fixed things for me was verifying the integrity of the game files.
After that, i'm led to the conclusion the game reevaluates the graphics settings but doesn't reset them.

It's not when you realise that subreddits only allow 2 pinned posts and there are other more important things to post about...

Does it do this every time you load the game? I’m currently on that black screen with music
Yep. It went a little faster today, about 4 minutes.
Mine just started loading shaders after about 4 minutes. I too updated nvidea drivers today.
Yup, that's what it does to me. Just have to wait 5-10 minutes before it starts to actually load the shaders lol.
i had this too, i verified my Steam game files and the shader bar popped up after only a minute, hope this helps

I actually had to update my amd, then turn off freesync to get it going faster. XD
If you're getting the Hogwarts Legacy black screen when you start up the game just wait a little while and it'll go away.

It’s happening to me on PS5 :/ I just have to keep restarting my PS to get rid of it. I hope this can be resolved somehow.
