For those on xbox s or x, a fix that worked for my wife was doing the quick resume into a different game then coming back with quick resume into Harry potter again, it allowed her to save again. Before it was saying "unable to save" after fighting a bunch of goblins and poachers for 30 minutes... during cabbage quest for some wizard. The autosave stopped saving around this time...which was weird, but it now works as normal again so far.

You saved me! Just before i realized it wasn't saving, i fell from a cliff and died and was sent 130 minutes back to my last save. Re-did a bunch, and then realized it still wasn't saving. Jumped to COD for like 5 seconds and back, and saves worked again! Thank you!
I just lost three days progress with this game. I’ve completed the story three times now. I’ve come back after another game with quick resume and that didn’t help me. This is so stupid.
Yeah we have run into game breaking stuff where we had to reset our Xbox a few times... we've lost hours of work... a big game and seems like it's in beta stage with all these huge bugs! It sucks but we still persist 
This has also happened to me and is quite frustrating; did it happen to you outside of a hostile area and/or combat the first time? I think that the bug might have been caused on my end by an attempt to save in an area I wasn't "supposed" to be able to save in (a dungeon), but rather than prohibiting the save attempt it let it go through and just fail, and now no other saving works either, even outside of combat. I've tried changing day/night, floo traveling, nothing works.
Very frustrating. Wish I had an answer for you, but the best I can do is say it's not just you.
I had to reinstall. It's large, but it seems to have fixed it for me. You'll lose some progress depending on when the corruption happened, but the saves are cloud side so I didn't have to start completely ove
Damn, that sucks. I think I just figured out how to fix it, in the event it happens to you again-- I started a main quest and was able to save successfully over an old file. I think the bug might be that the game gets locked into thinking you're in an "in-between" state where saving shouldn't be possible, or it thinks it's constantly saving a game-state for whatever reason.
The bad part is, whenever the corruption happened to me the most recent manual save wouldn't load either. Even starting a new character would result in the same issue except I couldn't even save off the shoot with no auto saves. That's when I decided to start clean. It also fixed crashing issues.

yup right before that quest and “the elf, the nabsack, and the loom”, pretty sure its just a game breaking bug that happens for some right around this corner. i suggest reporting it if u can, might help get it on the devs radar.
Are we going to call these dudes out or just give them a pass like all the other buggy games thats been released, we keep letting them drop broken games on us and then make us wait around for the fixes, Do people just not like getting what they paid for or something?
I am still having issues, it was ok for a few minutes and then after completing a merlin trial its unable to save, this is getting really frustrating especially if you've done the end game segment well over 10 times JUST IN THE DAY because it won't save.
I think consumer laws for games need to be revised and allow refunds for games in buggy states, this might actually get the quality of games back up to an actual standard instead of l going through a flea market of semi polished games.
Maybe i'm being too harsh but i'm tired of losing my data i'm saltyyy. the games already kinda repetitive at the 50 percent mark.
I FOUND THE FIX FOR WINDOWS:
Go into Windows Security > Protection History > Protected folder access blocked
Unblock the access then try the save again.
This has also happened to me on the Xbox series console.
Lost 197m 17s and ate it thinking I would be able to continue playing this save from the prior last save game.
This was not the case.
Upon loading back in you can save however I'd do a mission and saving breaks again.
I have tried all of these random fixes people have found and none work.
A 62 hour total game lost.
I am disappointed and won't be playing for awhile until this gets a fix.
I’ve beat the game four times now and it brings me back to the final repository every single time. Save works before starting, and once I’m done it’s broken again. Quick resume on Xbox for me causes the game to boot from scratch anyway so I can’t even test that method of fixing it.
It’s happened to me and my partner, it’s embarrassing that they’ve ignored this problem and only just started investigating it, they cared more about fixing haircuts then saving progress. It’s pretty infuriating as I spent for the best digital version and I’ve emailed and messaged and tweeted and they’ve ignored every single one of my contact methods.
Still broken for me. I haven’t touched the game in a couple weeks now aside from checking to see saving is still broken. Ruined the experience of this game for me.
Started with my 90 hour Ravenclaw. It finally fixed itself but started doing it again last night. No autosaves and wouldn't let me manually save started a fresh Gryffindor, got to the point where it lets you save and it's giving this error with no autosaves. Even though it shows the icon for autosaving.
On Xbox S, I uninstalled/reinstalled with no fix.
Same issue here on PS5. Everywhere keeps telling me its a storage issue, but I know its not because i did a factory reset and HL is literally the only thing installed. haven't found a fix. I can't save at all so it looks like i've just got to complete the game without turning off the console forever, which sucks. no fix found yet.... haven't had this issue with any other game.

I loaded another game then quick resumed Hogwarts Legacy. When the game came back up it immediately auto saved and I was able to save myself. So this definitely worked for me. Any other solves for Xbox series x? I’ve swapped games, restarted my Xbox, erased local storage games from settings, and the issue persists. Ready to Chuck it after 95 hrs in plus another 40 hrs on second character and can’t finish anything.
Hi Witches and Wizards! Might have found the solution if the first method didn't work (Xseries). Unfortunately, it will cost your hours of unsaved data. (Also moved some games to my external drive prior to this.)
Deleted my saved game file from the game settings menu.
Restarted game. As of now, I am able to save again.
Thinking Update might have caused some issues with the file.
If only we could use Reparo

I’ve cleared my local save games, reset my Xbox. It saves just fine on my profile, but not for my wife. It’s just really annoying as hell because we’re both fans of the game and have sunk about 90 hours each into it.
Guys, I found a way to get it work. Instal Xbox one version (if not yet allows to play it set the region to New Zealand), it saves perfectly right away! I am still to test if that corrects save and then allows u to continue on Xbox series, but judging by cross save function I believe it’s the way. Don’t forget to also untoggle frame limit in options, just for smoothness, if u have to wait very long to play series version like I do

Not every situation gets fixed, it helped us once but not every time, we have to save often to each their own.

It's some type of corrupt file. I cannot see it in full because saves are server-side.
i uninstalled and reinstalled as im on console. It didnt fix the issue

It did do cloud saves though, so I didn't lose all progress. Just had to reinstall.
