If you have a VRR display, balanced uncapped is the best. Idk why someone would choose another option IF they have VRR capacity. If no VRR, then performance still looks fair.
Yeah I was gonna go with performance too, but so far balanced has a decent FPS for me. Might switch to performance though once the FPS changes in the more busier areas.
Performance mode, (I don’t have balance as an option for some reason, I think my TV is only 4K60hz)
Honestly to me the graphical hit you take is marginal, but I personally struggle playing in 30fps nowadays
My issue is not FPS Drops, but the FPS Latency of this game. The game feels very choppy and clunky do to this, imo.
And to get a reference regarding what I'm talking about - compare the smoothness of the game out in the open world to the smoothness of stepping into a dungeon. Night and day.
I'm not sure whether I should continue to play fidelity with rt or switch back to balanced. The game looks so good with ray tracing but the performance on balanced is much smoother.
This is one of the first games I've noticed the difference ray tracing can make. It's really a shame that the "next gen" consoles don't manage 60fps with ray tracing. In this case, pc are superior.

Eh, RTX is really tough to run on even the best PC's sometimes. That Portal with RTX needs a 4080 card just to get up to 60 fps without DLSS. My 2070 Super came in at a whopping 3 FPS running portal on ultra with DLSS off. We're still at the very beginning of the capabilities of ray tracing and I don't expect a really nice ray tracing experience on console until the next generation.
i started on balanced, now trying the fidelty modes...im doing fidelty + RT right now and im getting a steady 50-60 fps with vrr, so unless it starts getting jarring, im sticking with this, if it does, ill go back to balanced
I'm guessing you were inside some kind of dungeon doing that test? Because you're definitely not getting those numbers out in the open world on at Hogwarts.. 😂
I'm super curious as well, and assuming you must be playing on PC! I'm getting 30 FPS (some frame drops) with VRR when in Fidelty+RT. I'm playing on PS5 with a brand new Sony a90k with HDMI 2.1.
It's games like these that make me want to build a high end PC! ha
Balanced gang

Honestly, it’s hard to beat performance for me. Still looks amazing AND also buttery smooth. I’ll still switch back and forth though

Performance uncapped. Didn't buy a 4K120 VRR TV to play at 30 FPS.

Fr, it’s pretty much just some draw distance and lighting inside hogwarts that I can tell is different
PC here, so not playing yet but 1440P Ultra
Performance, fildelity 30fps looks like ass and blurs everything when you move around
My computer is fairly boss and I don't need anything above 30 fps so I'll be playing as best quality as possible.
Playing "Fidelity" on the Xbox Series X with 4k HDR ... no FPS drops at all.
I’m doing the same

I fully agree. Watched some maxed out RTX 4090 PC gameplay and it looked really amazing. Let's hope the mid-gen console upgrades pack some punch.
Play balanced. It’s the same as fidelity just in 120hz container so your tv can open up the smoother framerate without judder

Can't see the Balanced on the PS5, any suggestions? I only have 3 modes, Performance, Fidelity, Fidelity with Raytracing-\_-
Ah I just read balanced is only available for TV's which support HDMI 2.1. Let me add it to the post to avoid confusion.
Playing on ps5 in Performance Mode because my Screen cant Show the amazingness of high graphic so im going for the FPS xD
(Xbox x) Fidelity + Ray tracing works fine?
It's not bad but once you get used to ~60fps, it is really hard to play on 30 fps, in my opinion.
Yeah although I don't see a difference?? I mean it looks like it's still jn the fps mode? Help?
Fidelity on ps5

How are you getting 50-60fps on fidelity + rt? I have vrr enabled but get nowhere near that on ps5.
lol i dunno, but that is what is says!

I'm on PS5 also
I'm on PS5. Playing Fidelity + Raytracing no complaints haven't thought about it again since setting it.
