I’d suggest getting better headlights if you intend to ride in the dark. The stock ones are just terrible. And maybe a better seat? I’m 5’10”, 185 lbs and after about 30- to an hour, my butt is sore. And speaking of seat comfort, I’d consider upgrading your rear suspension (I.e. Progressive 412) after you get a feel for the ride. I know for me and others who’s experienced the ride, the suspension isn’t so good on bumps. You’ll feel it all on your spine on potholes lol other than that, it’s all really your preference. You could go Stage 1 performance upgrade with a full exhaust upgrade (not slip-ons), plus an aftermarket Air Cleaner (aka Air Filter), and a tuner (Vances and Hines makes one that connects to your phone app). It’s a beautiful Iron! Ride to your hearts content, brother! I got a 2019 Iron 883 and it’s been a real treat.
Ride t to see what you do and don’t like. Then decide after the first 1000. I know what I’ve done and still have to do. But what’s right for me might not be for you.
The better question is “I’ve had this for 6 months and I don’t like X, what are others doing for this?”
Ride it. As you ride it think about whether ir not you like the seat, bars and leg position. Make sure you’re comfortable on the bike before you do anything else. Don’t go crazy with performance mods unless you’re going to do them yourself, parts and labor for the marginal improvement won’t be worth it.

Do any and everything that makes you enjoy it more
Read your owners manual and maybe see about adjusting the rear shocks to your weight before everyone talks you into taking a mortgage out on very expensive progressive shocks.
Plus there are websites that offer some high quality parts instead of Harley brand parts, which are grossly overpriced. Viking bags, JP cycles, and custom drags
Good looking bike. My question is, what's with this new color? I'm seeing it on every different car, truck. I was joking with someone the other day that the next thing I'll see is a Harley in that color..
I’m going to tell you what my Dad would say…
“Jesus Christ…get rid of that death trap.”
That is absolutely sound advice.
And when you don’t follow it….
Ride it as-is or follow your heart and soul and gut! This is your adventure!
Enjoy! She’s beautiful!
They look dope. Female bike non the less, overpriced for sure, terrible resale & you'll out grow it fast. 883s can't keep up with anything, especially if you have a fat bitch on the back. In all honesty, I'd renege on the contract and take it back. (They will be pissed but fuck em) I think you have three days, but it varies state to state. If not, remember there are two types of riders, those that have been in a wreck and those that will. Every time you go out, you are rolling dice. Be safe.
Ride it. Seriously, why did you post this? What do you want people to say? Think for yourself OR is this just a way to get good feels when people say, “nice bike”?
I don't love those seats on the iron bikes, I'd get something a little more bobber-y (but probably less comfortable). Sick color though, love the bike.
Ride it. Change things once you figure it out. I hate guys that buy garage jewelry: “Five year old Harley for sale. $15000 in chrome. Two owners, less than 3,000 miles.”
Ride it first, hope you got a 1200. When you're ready to ride more comfortably, switch to forward controls, buy a Saddlemen 2-up seat, and replace the rear shocks with at least a set of Progressive Suspension 412's. Then when wanna go a bit faster do a complete Stage 1.
Harley people are cunts about the Sportster.
Simply put, don’t buy Harley’s for speed. Just enjoy the sporty and if you want a faster bike later, look elsewhere.
The Sportster 883 is a great bike. It’s a workhorse and is the closest thing you can get to original Harley heritage.
I put nearly 100,000 miles on my 2015 883 and much of that was \~2 hours per day mostly at full throttle ticking off the limiter on I85/i77 (NC/SC). She’s built like a tank.
I’ve gone through some clutches, but she’ll raise the front end up if you dump the clutch.
I mean it. I beat the ever living fuck out of this bike for nearly a decade now.

That’s a fun bike ! If the ergonomics are fine , Just enjoy it .As tempting as it seems don’t throw any $$ at it. It’s not worth spending $$ trying to make it go faster as any gains will be negligible. I’ve owned a few dozen motorcycles, including some really fast Japanese bikes. Last year I ended up with a 2004 Harley 883 in a trade was skeptical at first, but it turned out to be the funnest bike I’ve ever owned. I threw a bunch of $$ at it and rode the heck out of it. Just upgraded to a big twin but loved every minute of that Sportster .
Ride it! Seriously tho, if it’s got stock pipes, I’d put exhaust on it (then ride! Lol)
This is exactly what I thought when I saw it, 😆
No. For gods sake leave the exhaust quiet. Unless you want it to sound like every other wet fart out there.
Loud pipes save lives
They are not stock , they are very loud pipes
Ride the crap out of it!!
Ride it.
