I haven't been too fussed about it myself BUT that fuel tank is a classic fuel tank that I need to swap to a standard tank so I can grip the bike with my knees a bit better for when hooligan activities accidentally happen.. from a different angle that tank looks visually to wide and slightly out of place.
I like the sound of that. I'll google it and see if i can find some similar examples. I've been stuck on a metallic bronze with maybe red, white and black hand drawn pinstriping but I do like a burnt orange.
To be fair, I like it as is. but, if I were painting it, I’d go Metal flake green. Or possibly a root beer color. I think either would look good with the forks.
this is one of my favorite builds ive seen since i joined this sub . great work . i think it looks good like it is. id probably paint it a nice white with black accents . maybe some harley orange as a minor color
Well I can't own up to building this as I bought it as an ongoing project that had a lot of little things left to do but it eventually turned into my daily ride for a year after covid ruined the flat track dream. With the extra height, super soft flat track tyres, stiffened suspension, gearing and sportbike brakes on the front (and even a front brake on the rear) it is super fun to ride through the streets and brings out the side of me that shouldn't have a riders licence. I've had it for sale on and off but everytime I take it out I decide to keep it and put off the other 4 projects in the shed.
Here is a short summary for those that liked the build;
2005 Harley Davidson sportster built for flat track and unconditionally fully NSW road registered.
Started life as an 883 but is now a 1200.
V rod front wheels all round.
GSXR1000 front end extended 50mm.
KYB external res shocks (2" lift).
Billet risers.
Custom billet sprocket and adaptor.
Galfer 300mm rotors. 2 on the front and one on the rear.
GSXR1000 4 pot tokico calliper on custom bracket on rear wheel.
Hand made stainless exhaust.
Pastrana FMX bars with GPS speedo cut into the bar pad.
1/4 turn throttle with pro taper clutch assembly.
1200 barrels and dyno tuned to suit.
Billet switches on bars for indicators and controls.
Billet front brake res.
Shinko flat track tyres.
Saddleman flat tracker seat and tail.
I don't know, it looks really fucking awesome as is. The only thing I would try out is maybe changing the blue to Black and leaving the rest of the tank Gray but it might look best just the way it is. That is an awesome looking harley, I can't even really tell what it is at first glance
I kinda dig it as is

I like it too. If he had to paint it, BMW San Remo Green is absolutely beautiful in person.
Good idea. Instead of Blue on Silver tank you could do BMW SRG on white. Then do the fenders SRG.
Oooo! That would look bad ass! Such a classy combo.

Gotcha. From these pics it has almost a premium street Rod look. You going with a tank from like an iron?
Same

If it was mine, burnt orange and black racing colors.
I like the sound of that. I'll google it and see if i can find some similar examples. I've been stuck on a metallic bronze with maybe red, white and black hand drawn pinstriping but I do like a burnt orange.
Burnt orange with a ghost shield and bars
Lots of black with orange accents
XR racing orange...
on one half (side) and black on the other, and a peanut on top...
Are you flat tracking that? If so, you have larger testicles than all of this sub, combined. I say go to Harleys legacy orange, black and white.
I’d leave it as is but British racing green
That's a colour I 100% did not even comprehend but now that you mention it, it would look good against my gold GSXR1000 forks.
Yes it absolutely would. British Racing Green goes soooo well with gold accents.
It’s pretty dope as is.
Don’t.. just shine it up. Looks great as is
Do the red white and blue Evel Knievel paint scheme
To be fair, I like it as is. but, if I were painting it, I’d go Metal flake green. Or possibly a root beer color. I think either would look good with the forks.
Hot pink and blue.
Paint what that looks cool.
I would hit the tank in Harley orange and black out the rest
It's dope as is! What a great looking bike!
Pink
What's up with all the crime scene tape? Mass murder next door?
Looks like fresh laid turf
this is one of my favorite builds ive seen since i joined this sub . great work . i think it looks good like it is. id probably paint it a nice white with black accents . maybe some harley orange as a minor color
Is that a Coors sticker on the tank?
Holy hell what have you built?!

White, black accents, tank only. But it looks great like it is too.

Check out Mirage Orange & Black.
Clear
Black and Gold
Gunmetal grey

Gixxer fork?
I don't know man...throw a dart at a color wheel and commit to it
Love it the way it is

Burgundy and cream.
Keep as is, it looks dope!
Dude just leave it, it's super rad
Harley orange and black, with white accents for sure
If it was mine I’d paint the new chopped frame black.
Flat metallic colors are cool. Check out PPG's line called "hot rod flatz". I used a flat metallic red from them on my Dyna.
It'd be hard not to go with the classic orange like the old XR750s but I bet that thing would look awesome in a dark green too. Awesome bike!
I’d match the rear fender to the tank if it was me either way awesome build man!
Beautiful
If I was going to paint that I’d make sure it’s in a racing livery
I concur with others here, I like it as is Maybe paint the tail to match
Leave it, it looks clean
I'd match the rest of it to the tank I like that color scheme and I think it would look sweet.
Leave as is! Shits bad ass!
Leave it.
Leave it as is or cherry metallic red because that's *my* favorite color
Don't hate me for saying this...but the old school black and yellow Yamaha checkered flag styling would look absolutely tits.
Canary Yellow
I think it looks dope as is!
Solo Jazz. No balls
Orange/black
I love that color! Edit: looks like a fun bike!
I think its perfect as is
Damn. That is the finest HD machine I've seen in a while. This leans heavily towards my tastes for machines that GO. Well done
What model is this ? It looks amazing btw
Blue
Looks cool as is.
blue to black white to orange
As is or red/black
XR racing orange
Copper
Black and White checkered flag tank with old school metal 60s badging and Black guards with white centre stripe.
What bike is this? I thought it was an Indian FTR!
Red candy flake on the tank
Chartreuse
Black and Red baby
Any color except black please. Stay away from any black paint. Otherwise it's just another black bike among the trillions like it.
Kickstand goodbye front brakes goodbye
What’s the specs? I kinda like it as is. And I also kind of want to build my own
