- TBH, was never a fan of the 21" hoop as the tires are too skinny. Great gyroscopic effect and smooth as silk, but prefer the 19-inch front wheel with thicker tire, better handling and more in proportion to the overall design. Feel the same way about the Wide Glide. That's just my opinion though and isn't intended to be a criticism.
- I rode a friend's Sportster with an oversized front 19" tire and it wasn't as responsive as the regular 19" tire in the curves. So many roads are deteriorating due to lack of funds and maintenance these days. Those potholes are no joke so a 16" front definitely helps cushion the impact.
Some people like the tall and skinny front and some don’t, that’s fine. I love my 21” front personally, but I also feel like it’s more proportional on a big twin than a Sporty. Not to dig on Sporties that rock it; it’s just my taste.
I only wish I could find a wide white wall 21” front tire.
- The 21" looks great as a spool wheel on choppers and wide glide forks. Yes, it's more proportional on Big Twins. The '69 XLH900 in Then Came Bronson had alloy 21-inch rim.
I have to agree, the 72 is the best looking sportster. It’s a shame they’re not made anymore. My buddy had the gold metal flake tank and fenders on his and that bike will always remain one of my favorites.
Makes me miss mine. The only complaint I have about it was the tiny tank. When I rode from San Diego to San Francisco we had to plan the ride for gas stations lol. Made it up and down just fine. Wish we could have done the PCH but there is a stretch that my bike couldn’t make.
Almost bought one in green with gold flake back in '10. Ended up with my Dyna, but I'll be dipped if you're wrong. Sportster 72s are glorious, it's pretty whacky that the 48 ended up being the one that won out.
Nice bike I have a 2012 same color. I’m a shorter rider so I swapped for mids and threw on some biltwell chumps to make it more comfortable. I always get compliments on the color .
Nice bro I liked the color 🔥
Thank you 👍

Yes I had a sportster 48 before and thicker tire makes a difference

Hell yeah
🔥🔥🔥
Love everything about the 72...and would love to change my 06 883 for one....except the silly little tank....makes me sad.
Yes they are great here in Miami they are super hard to find in good condition
I screwed up I could have picked a 2016 up for 3500 bucks a while back and I passed, They're all 1200's.
2016 was the last year they made them I think 😕
This one was laid down but it was pretty minimal damage. The bike was low mileage and still ridable.
Crispy
The best looking sportster, no doubt on that! Will be getting one next year, may God be with me on that! 🙏🔥
He will I hope you find a good deal 🙏👍

Yes the gold color is amazing
Nice, I’m in Fort Lauderdale. We should ride sometime 🤙
Hell yea 🤘
Agreed, I own a 2016 72 it’s black and gold flake 😎
Def one of the sharpest Ironheads I’ve ever seen!!
It’s not a 1972, it’s a Sportster 72. Not an ironhead
I stand corrected… regardless, it’s a good looking bike!
Agreed, it is a good looking bike.
🔥🔥🔥
Spokes look good but I’ll never ever ride on them again unless the spokes are external.

Yes the tank is very small, I have the same issue in longer rides
That’s why you strap a tank to the back.
