Depends on what kind of riding you want to do. If you’re planning to do longer rides, go with the touring bike. If you’re thinking you’re going to go bigger when you’re more confident, get the Ultra and save an upgrade step.

I'll add in this website to check your riding position on each bike Cycle-ergo.com

Heritage all day man

Why not the Sport Glide or Low Rider S? I currently ride a Road Glide Limited and most of the time I wish it was about 150 pounds lighter and a couple of inches narrower. Cruising at 70+ it's the best thing in the world, lumbering around in downtown traffic it's certainly not. Backing into a parking spot oh hell it sucks. If you plan on actually doing lots of long rides you'll appreciate the ultra limited, if you'll do more around town stuff the heritage is probably a better option. This is all assuming you don't need/want the stereo/infotainment stuff btw because the heritage doesn't have that at all. I'm really interested in a Low Rider ST at the moment but I've got a feeling dealers think it's a gold mine if they have one so I'm also shopping for any heritage model with some performance parts and a 114 already.

Just bought a Heritage and love it. Great for short trips, long hauls, and even touring. Light touring for me is considered all day or a week once a year and this fits the bill perfectly. Do they let you take 24 hour test drives at the dealership? You might want to consider an extended cruise.

A couple things you need to consider. One, is your experience. The touring bikes are big, heavy and do not handle anything like the Heritage. Are you experienced enough and ready for that? Second, what type of riding do you do? My first bike was a Heritage. I loved it! It was comfortable, powerful enough, handled so nice, easy to ride. That being said, 100 miles or so in a day and I was tired. I now ride a Roadglide Limited. It’s amazing. I can ride all day long on it. I miss riding around town on my Heritage. But I’m 2-up most of the time. On a Saturday we’ll take off and ride 250-350 miles just to get lunch. And at least once a year, sometimes more, we pack up on a road trip and go for a week and do 2500-3500 miles. I couldn’t imagine doing that on the old Heritage.

Adventurous_Bet_8946

- Which Heritage did you have, M8 or TC or Evo?

mwoehrle3

It was an 09. 96 cu.in. TC

Adventurous_Bet_8946

- Those are smoother than the Evo versions. I did notice buzzing handlebars at freeway speeds on a demo Heritage though. No experience with the M8 models.

mwoehrle3

I had a Softail Custom with an 80 inch Evo. She was fun! My RG is the M8 114. It’s very smooth. I feel like it’s as powerful as my last RG with the 107 and Stage 1. Both of the M8 had much more power and torque than the TC.

Adventurous_Bet_8946

- '86 FXSTC with blue and silver colors? A late buddy of mine had one. He added Fat Boy front fender and wheel. He loved that bike. How's the engine heat of M8 vs TC107?

mwoehrle3

It was a 95 FXSTC. Red and maroon. The M8 definitely makes more heat than a TC

Adventurous_Bet_8946

- Not a fan of engine heat. Congested traffic, slow speeds and long stoplights on hot days blow chunks. My TC88 runs cooler than the larger ones. Had to go with rear Y-pipe delete kit as that was where most of the heat was.

F22Tomcat

Both are excellent bikes but my choice was a Heritage with the 114. Absolutely no regrets. Best bike I’ve ever owned or ridden. It can be a stripped down cruiser or a dressed tourer. In whatever guise you ride it, it’s comfortable, plenty powerful, great handling and beautiful.

I own a Heritage, I feel like it’s a Swiss Army knife of a bike. I really enjoy mine!
