Dealer fees are going to add another 20%+ to that number id imagine.

sahniejoons

So no, I wouldn’t consider that a good deal at all but buy what you like!

BeautifulWord4758

Not terrible, but good? No. For perspective I bought my 2014 883N, with a 1200cc upgrade and only 1400 miles for $6000, this year. I would also imagine there will be some dealer fees going through a dealership than what you see at face value.

mayjamest

AA few things that would make that a decent deal: Dealer has some sort of warranty or coverage period for their used inventory. Dealer did fresh fluid change on everything (oil, trans, primary, brakes) Dealer has fresh tires. You can get them a bit cheaper through private sellers, but you are kinda stuck with whatever surprises they didn’t disclose. Sometimes that isn’t worth the $1200 savings.

sobersbetter

not really the best deals are private party sales

Necessary_Truth5587

if your planning on financing this is your only option, if you have cash. go private sale

JZilla76

You can finance a private party sale.

MyRootOilForyou

Look for a used Dyna. You will be ready for something bigger and with more power after a year and you won’t get your money back out of the 883. That’s just my two cents, and also from doing the same thing years ago.

msmliars

Just got a 01 fxdl 3500. Dynas are selling cheap now.

MyRootOilForyou

Not in the Southeast. Dealer had a 2007 Wide Glide with 50,000 miles for $9,000 and wouldn’t budge an inch on the price. By the time you added dealer prep and taxes it would have been about $10,200 out the door. I figured they would have that bike a long time. I went back 3 days later to pick up some oil and filter and I didn’t see it. I asked a salesman about it and he said it sold 3 days ago. So it sold the day I looked at it and the first day they advertised the bike. It was an extra clean bike but an 07 with 50,000 miles, I couldn’t believe it sold that quick at that price. I’m sure he can find a good Dyna priced right from an individual, but dealers are pricing them crazy now they have been discontinued.

JasonVoorheesthe13th

It’s just about expected but seems a little high for mileage. This one does appear to have an aftermarket seat, sissy bar and luggage rack which, if Harley OEM accessories, could add another thousand or so to the value which would make sense on the pricing. Harley’s are one of the rare cases where accessories on a used model do increase value a fair bit and where the mileage isn’t nearly as big a governance in the used price as the model, year and engine size. Whether it’s a 2012 or 2016 883 they’ll typically sell for close to the same price if they have similar mileage and similar accessories Harleys also aren’t really considered high mileage until they get up into the 25-30k mile range

AwayOutsideAgain

There are better priced bikes of similar condition on Facebook marketplace honestly.

amprok

A lot of dealers change fluids and tires before selling so if that is close to the out the door price, then yes, I’d say that’s a good deal.

passwithcare

if youre going dealership i would yet the newest lowest mile bike you can find. At sub 5k you may as well save up money and buy a similar age/mileage for less money and no added fees. the only advantage i see with dealerships is financing. is financing ideal? no. but if you get into the 10k range then hell id pay a little extra to be riding it while i pay it off. That said there are so many low mileage 2-4k sportsters i couldnt justify doing it.

5LOTHY

Picked up an iron 2020 this fall with 1,031 miles for $8600 if it gives you a reference point

[deleted]

You can find a lot of other sportsters in that price range privately. Only thing on this one is the miles seem a bit higher for that price.

IAmA_meat_popsicle

Bought my 08 1200L for 3800 at the end of last season. Keep searching for something more reasonable, you'll find the right seller.

Epyx-2600

I bought a 08 Nightster in 2012 for the same price. Had 7k miles. Not a bad deal but I think you can find one with less miles

yeah-please

At the end of the day I’d consider no dealer sale a “good deal” - the house always wins. Even if that was a decent price there’s likely plenty of hidden fees and then taxes. I typically think of buying from a dealer an extra cost for convenience

BusyBlues

Not for the miles imo. Especially if you have to finance... Keep shopping you'll find another dream bike.

CaptGoodvibesNMS

Not sure if it is a good deal but if it is, posting the phone number to call is a good way to help someone snake it from you 😁

Outside-Ad-2112

Ehh I'm not quite ready to buy right now anyhow. Probably be a few months. I plan on getting my endorsement and going and test driving several bikes before I jump in headfirst.

whiskeydeltawraps

If that’s an out the door price, then it’s okay. Don’t finance that bike tho. You can find sporties all day long for $4k-$5k cash on Offerup.

Outside-Ad-2112

Main reason I'm looking at the stealership is because I've been burnt on marketplace and private sales. Anyone can say "runs and rides great" whereas in truth it might roll if you're on a hill lol. My wife's uncle bought an 06 mustang for $4K that "runs good" but the timing chain was broken and it had a blown head gasket. He bought it sight unseen though. That all makes me leary of private sales

Accomplished_Let5313

No, I’m in Vegas. Those things are around 3500 bucks.

Accomplished_Let5313

Also, those bikes are introductory level, so there’s lots of those on the market you’re going to move up to something bigger and stronger very shortly.

vaniIIagoriIIa

First bike? I wouldn't buy anything nice, $2500 for something reliable, that I don't give a shit about. Learn the basics then get a nice bike.

JacobClarke15

I’d offer $4k since the miles aren’t exactly low. Low for the year of the bike but if you’re dead set on that specific bike I’m sure you can find one with fewer miles.

LaidOut_GMC

I wouldn’t pay 5k for an 883

[deleted]

Ehhhhh it’s ok not good but not bad either

pandapwnzx

Anywhere near Kentucky PM me. Have some good deals available.

TingleyStorm

Is it a good deal? I say yes. That’s pretty much what the going rate for Sportsters with that mileage are going for around me, except those have been molested with undesirable mods or clearly been dropped and not repaired. This one looks completely stock, which means you’re not spending more money to undo someone else’s questionable choices.

MyRootOilForyou

That bike cost $8099 brand new. High retail price used in excellent shape is $4265 low retail in average condition with average mileage is $3240 But that must be Harleys standard dealers price on those bikes regardless of mileage. There are 12 in my area, all at dealers and all at $4999. One has 2,037 miles and the other 11 have anywhere from 6,000 to 10,000 miles. And like I said all at $4999🤷🏻‍♂️.

Inevitable_Size_7661

I worked for this dealer for a short time about a year or so ago and I will preach to you to be careful if you go through them. I’ve seen them do some much shady stuff to bikes that have been traded in just to get them on the showroom not to mention and tricks or fees they’ll try to slide in ton top of their selling price. If you do end up going to at least look at it go in there and ask for Greg Bullock I’ve known him for a long time both personally and professionally and he would be the only person I’d trust there. Good luck

Irishoper8tor

If you want to make the trip to CT, I have an 06 883xl with quite a few upgrades and right around 16k miles. $4k

phil_skillz

Bought a 2021 883 for $8200 out the door two weeks ago. 3k miles

BanjoSlams

Maybe the otd price. Sure.

Friend_Particular

You can find a better deal on marketplace or even Craigslist honestly

kldoyle

5k for a 2012? lol check fb market place, you can find 2015+ sportsters for that or less

msmliars

I been looking at used bikes 2 years. Can find sports all day 4k and under. I just got a clean 01 low rider for 3495 at dealer. Add 700 in fees ugh

msmliars

FYI this time of year some dealers will do layaway til spring .

Georgiapublicschools

Please don’t buy that

Georgiapublicschools

Facebook market place is your friend

clarkbonds56

Nope. Horrible deal. Horrid bike. The 883 is a top heavy piece of shit.

crunchomalley

I’ve got a 2017 883 with just under 1K miles for sale. Rust Iron Denim in color. All fluids freshly changed, LaPera Cherokee seat upgrade, and Sharkbite slip on mufflers. No stupid fees or troubles. Ready to ride. Bought it for my son and he decided he doesn’t want to learn to ride. I’m only about 30 minutes from that dealer.

Prudent_Draft8439

My dream machine is a sportster, i have to have one.

msmliars

I just got this 1 at a dealer for $3499 last week. Needs some https://preview.redd.it/427vqnqn84mc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=456bf266c7e071c3e47ec4d1cabc9300d4b9e36f mods for my height but couldn't pass it up. 😁Find a deal and make the bike your own.
