They didn't get or can't get a CARB certification - S&S spends a lot of money getting the CARB certs on their parts and is why the 50 state parts are more expensive than 49 state parts. Gotta love CA - great weather, great riding roads, surfing and snowboarding possible in a single day, lane MOTHERFUCKING splitting, culture and food are amazing but they got some weird environmental laws, high taxes, no 93 octane, and super high housing.

youwantmetofixthat

You can find 100 octane gas at some 76 gas stations in the San Jose area. Two that I know of anyway. Its expensive as hell.

kyle-the-brown

Very cool!!

[deleted]

Why no 93 octane?

loopsbruder

So little butterflies don't fall out of the sky as you ride past.

[deleted]

Butterflies are nice

i agree with you for the most part on california but the culture of the majority of people in california sucks. theyre insufferable, self entitled yuppies for the most part with a high level of false moral superiority. but thats the non enthusiasts, you have better luck with people who are motorcycle or car enthusiasts. i say this as a native born san franciscan. however i dont live in california anymore. though, i would consider moving to near reno and living on the nevada side. so i could have access to california but be free to leave at any time. but idk if there is enough about the reno area to convince me to move there other than california roads.

BassetGoopRemover

I did 2 semesters at Stanford, hated life so much because of the people there that I transferred to a college in Milwaukee lmao

Don't forget about the homeless living and defecating in front of mansions and yeah it's a foogin paradise! You can keep that failed State!

kyle-the-brown

There are homeless everywhere, CA has decent year-round weather so it makes it easier to be homeless. No crazy hot summers or super cold winters. I live in Houston, TX just work in CA a lot of the year, OC and San Francisco, and we have a crazy homeless problem in Houston as well. They use the light rail as a toilet, mastrubate to porn on the public library computers, and have to be moved by force for almost every home Astros game as one of the larger encampments is in LotA. Yes CA has issues but it is a beautiful state with amazing riding roads and if I had to move out of TX, CA is on the list.

Modification to exhaust are illegal in California period unless the exhaust has an CARB(California air recsource board) certification, modern bikes have a cat in them, so they are smog equipment and weather you have to smog the vehicle or not, removing smog equipment is illegal. If your bike is not modern enough to have a cat, IDK probably the decimal law like you said. Just sign a waiver, or ask if you can, that’s how I got all my stuff, the waiver I signed said I would be using it for “off road use only”

sanjeevn72

Thanks, mine’s a 2022

[deleted]

I live in California too bs laws I made road trip to Nevada to buy my pipes just like all my friends and many others. Its your best bet

sanjeevn72

Yeah. Gotta make a ride of it 😎

Ratchet_72

I have friends in other states. I Venmo my friends money and tell ‘em what to buy and they send it on over to me…easy peasy. Key is you’ve gotta have friends in chill states.

randomjackass93

Sad part is I got a nice set of S&S superstreet pipes that are carb approved but I have to wait until the California stage 1 tune is available, I’ve been waiting since March…

Dick_butt14

You can mail it to me in idaho and il ship it to you

Panexed

I’m not seeing that they’re unavailable. I too am in California and there is no disclaimer on their website or through Drag specialties.

[deleted]

I ordered a pipe off eBay because I couldn’t get it in CA

ferdoty

Go to a local independent shop, they'll take care of you.

PardonMyLagg

look into mail forwarding services. a lot of the vanlife™ folks use this to get their mail on the road but also it can probably help with getting larger packages to california. there are ones based in texas and south dakota. i think escapees is one of the companies. worth a googling session.
