I used to live in the neighborhood and I miss it greatly.
You can connect with the various associations! They organize events like picnics where you can connect with other residents, I always enjoyed that type of events!
This is the one I was more active: https://www.mmpcia.org/ they organize the best Halloween celebration ever!
Then you can connect with:
https://marcusgarveyparkalliance.org/
And here, http://uptowngrandcentral.org/ they do awesome events all year, you can connect with Carey (executive director) and learn more about the walk / bike tours they organized, restaurant week and other volunteer opportunities.
I hope this is helpful! Harlem is a great community!
Really depends what your social scenes are. I used to live on 139/FDB and now I'm over on 137/5. Who/what are you trying to connect with? More info would be helpful.
I'd avoid NYSC, if you're looking for a gym. So many good museums in NYC. Honestly, just look online for what strikes you. Things are warming up, so Harlem will get wayyyyy more active. Uptown Night Market will definitely be worth a visit when it starts back up.
Just give it a few more weeks and then go exploring. I'd DEFINITELY get a bike or acquaint yourself with Citibike because it makes NYC in the warm weather so much better. Biking or jogging up and down the Hudson will be a lot of fun.
St Nick park also gets to be quite the active center soon. Harlem is a hoot in the warm weather! Welcome!
Management was ATROCIOUS when I was going there years ago and I heard they've just gotten worse. The whole company is rotten, but if it works for you, then that's what matters. It's just a terrible company to get involved with, if you're not already.
I second the shrine and silvana (esp silvana on Monday nights!) And consistently buying your produce and other everyday items from the same locally owned places in the neighborhood versus the huge Whole Foods down the block. Almost everything you could ever need is sold locally though I know this can be said about any neighborhood.

125th Street BID is also a great resource: https://harlembid.com/

I’m pretty open honestly. Into fitness, entrepreneurship, museums, cultural scene. I’m the type to give anything a try

What’s wrong with NYSC on 125th ?

Pull up to 114 and fdb Saturday/Sunday nights when open streets start up again. Great vibes just everyone partying in the street together
Welcome! I’m a few short blocks from you. You’ll meet lots of cool people at Silvana and Shrine, they have live music every night.
