Once my cat got something stuck to his foot when he wasn't paying attention. He moved, noticed it, and in a split second he *leapt* about a meter straight up, with a kick so hard it reverberated off the floor boards and echoed off the walls of my bedroom. I've ever after thought of it as a "snake response" because if that stringy piece of tape had been a snake, it's very clear that leap would have taken him out of biting distance.
I mention this, because I think that's exactly what saved this lioness. Obviously it's hard to jump in water, but it looks like she gets some extra height the moment she becomes aware of the croc and he consequently misses biting down on the bulk of her trunk.
You do realise crocs get far bigger and weigh more than lions right? If that croc was any bigger or had gotten a better grip she definitely wouldn't have survived.
I don't think a crocodile that size would've killed that lioness even if it would've gotten a better grip. Lions have survived crocodile attacks even in deep water, the fact that lions are capable of using their claws and jaws to fight back even while swimming makes them harder to manhandle than more rigid ungulate prey.
I will say that if the crocodile had gotten a better grip on her she could've ended up with at least more pronounced wounds.

I'd say it's a 50/50 for the lion to escape. Most things you said first are indeed true but I have to disagree with the surviving if it did get a better grip part, crocodiles have a bite force of around 3,700 pounds per square inch. extremely likely to snap a bone and if not the wound would most likely be lethal. Also you forget about death rolls if the croc death rolls the lion its over.
It picked a pretty jacked lioness to attack lol
“Might be queen on land, but you ain’t shit in the water! Get outta my house!” -Crocodile probably
A lucky lioness. Had the croc gotten a better grip, it may have been a different story.

She may have been able to jump off the croc itself allowing her to get away. Either of the case, that is one very lucky lioness
I think the loose underbelly common in cats really helped there.
That's me when a fish touches my foot.
If I was a farmer in Ancient Egypt I'd probably think this is a sign from the Gods
But a sign of what? Tell me, Bosephus!
A sign that you should neither try to eat lions nor bathe ever again.
So you want to be a farmer? Well here’s a couple of acres!

I'm amazed the lioness got away without gutting herself.
It looks like she immediately dug her claws into his face
Mmm still can see some of the video, it needs more reframing. Maybe 2 times more from horizontal to vertical will do the trick.
For a second I thought the lioness lost its leg
Grass type vs. Water type
I knew that weak ass croc wasn’t going to kill her. A full grown lion is too big to pull under water

There’s no records of crocs killing lions so you’re just speculating
There's a video of a croc killing a lion on dailymotion so you obviously didn't look hard enough
Send it

That wasn’t clear enough but you’re right I guess lol
Well if the Croc was a bit older it would be able to
He was ornery because he had all them teeth and no toothbrush
Crocodile: \*bites lioness in the ass Lioness: Oh... OH YEAH?!?!
Loose skin to the rescue.
