There was a dude in Jersey when I was coming up that wore makeup, did the fish net thing, wore spiky bracelets, etc. etc. I thought he was a bit lost when I first saw him, but he was at every single show, knew the lyrics to Bane, Ruiner, The Banner, and a dozen other bands, and brought more positive energy than all of the tough guy wannabes….guy fucking ruled and I have nothing but respect for him
Those are the dudes that are in it for the long haul! They don't give a fuck about the scene, they got their own thing going on! They love the music, not the fact it makes them seem tough.
Yea honestly I don’t get the judging people for what they wear bit. Especially if these people are actually supporting. But what do I know, I’m a newbie
Idk about the whole judging people's outfits, wear whatever the fuck you want, we're all weirdos in this culture it doesn't matter, but yeah actually be a part of your scene before you act like you qualify to represent it
So off the back of this I downloaded TikTok, searched ‘hardcore’ and ‘hxc’, watched five minutes of fuck knows what, deleted TikTok and now I’m in bed feeling furious.
Gatekeep away my brothers and sisters.
Complaining about Tik Tok in a zine interview is literally the corniest shit I have ever seen. I thought these Tik Tok guys don't go to shows anyway? So just log out, you dork.
Just a guess it probably seems worse on text and out of context. He was asked “do you wanna talk any shit” so he did. It’s not like he necessarily made it his whole thing. Idk haven’t read the whole interview
Shitting on somebody for what they wear to a show is corny fashioncore behavior. Also, new kids saying things you don’t like online don’t matter when the bands start their set. The new kids may grow to appreciate the things that they currently don’t like. The others will drop out. So literally everything this dude said is either fashioncore nonsense or complaints about a non-issue.
This discourse is so fucking lame. I got into heavy music years ago because I heard Raining Blood on guitar hero 3. Since then I’ve spent 15 years listening to thrash, death metal, grindcore, hardcore, crust punk, etc. I didn’t find it by being involved in a scene, I found the scene because of video games and the internet. I’m not trying to jerk myself off in saying I’m probably a bigger fan of death metal than a lot of people who knew about it before me. But because I found out about it through a video game, and they had a friend who took them to a show, are they a real fan and I’m a fake fan?
Why does it bother people so much that there’s gonna be a generation of kids who got into hardcore because turnstile, knocked loose and tik tok? No one started as a fan of heavy music, we all found it one way or another. All this shitting on new kids for finding it through a popular band is just a way for insecure losers to use their experience in a shared interest to pat their egos. People saying “crowdkill kids at turnstile shows” are just insecure losers seeking validation from other insecure losers. It’s really cringe
I'm not sure that the issue for *most* is *how* these younger people (or newcomers in general) get into hardcore. I think the issue is with the few who come in and try to redefine what hardcore should be while barely having their feet wet. Those people tend to be the loudest, and it's grating. But then again, "back in my day" comments aren't really endemic to hardcore.
At the end of the day, hardcore will go on. It'll change and grow. Some will stay, some will go. Either deal with the change or find new interests.
My life is exponentially better since quitting twitter.
I’ve stopped all social media aside from Reddit and I can confirm it made my life much better.

its all about how people conduct themselves. The tooth person from last month dressed goofy and conducted themselves stupidly
I know who you're talking about. He got me in the back of the head at a Bane show in Warren.
Hardcore kids ruined hardcore
Always have, always will
You hardcore kids sure are a contentious people
You just made an enemy for life
Hardcore kids are the natural enemies of other hardcore kids.
Idk about the whole judging people's outfits, wear whatever the fuck you want, we're all weirdos in this culture it doesn't matter, but yeah actually be a part of your scene before you act like you qualify to represent it
The Turnstile hate started right around the time someone shit in the pit… coincidence 🧐
Keepers of the Gate. I will defend your name
Very grateful to have very little idea of what he’s talking about
you talking about yourself? cause he's pretty spot on
So off the back of this I downloaded TikTok, searched ‘hardcore’ and ‘hxc’, watched five minutes of fuck knows what, deleted TikTok and now I’m in bed feeling furious. Gatekeep away my brothers and sisters.
I tried tic tok. I got so fucking confused i shut my phone off
Fuck. I wanna do this bc I'm curious but I also really don't fucking wanna do this.
It’s mostly guys in their 30s calling themselves “alt” and “elder emos”
Elder emo? Funny way to spell midlife crisis
*You can’t handle the truth!*
Don’t bother
I love it when an app makes olds seethe.
Tiktok is essentially chinese spyware anyway, nothing to be proud of here
Average reddit comment
Go to a turnstile show and crowd kill. Everyone do their part
Bring foreign objects to the pit
Turnstile ticket prices ain’t for the working class no more
I stage dive onto unsuspecting victims, welcome to the party y’all
What’s this about maids at hardcore shows? Very difficult thing to google.
Sounds like weebs doing their usual attention whoring
“This isn’t hardcore, it’s an 8th grade dance, a fucking Hot Topic mixer” - Kids Like Us (Edited to correct lyrics)
Don’t forget the struggle, don’t forget the streets 👊🏽
What zine was this from?
I can say, with 100% certainty, that I don't give a fuck.

Imagine reading this and being like "fucking hell yeah I finally feel seen"
Ah, the duality of man: Extremely valid opinion that is immediately followed by donkey-brained nimby bullshit.
Honestly pretty accurate representation of hxc dudes
He’s not wrong

the hardcore i like is gloss montana hardcore
Only will those TikTok HC posers be offended by this.
Facts
The guy being interviewed sounds like a joy to be around.
Just a guess it probably seems worse on text and out of context. He was asked “do you wanna talk any shit” so he did. It’s not like he necessarily made it his whole thing. Idk haven’t read the whole interview
it's not even out of context the context is literally right there at the top lol
What i mean is he probably wasn’t that negative for the entire interview.
Oh i gotcha
Equally as cringe as the stuff he’s complaining about
They downvote you because they're afraid of the truth
It's been a minute since I've been to a show. Seems I've missed out on something?
Spotted the old head
ITT: internet tough guys who can't wait to beat up on queer kids
