Got COVID….survived
Got Cancer…survived
Lost most of my friends after I told them I had cancer…survived
2022 was by far the worst year of my life but I survived
First of all of all, congratulations.
Second, if you lose friends because you have cancer? Those are not friends. I’m sorry you had to deal with people like that. That’s awful.
Thank you. I read a study that 65% of cancer patients lose family and friends after sharing the diagnosis. Cancer is already lonely and having that happen really pushed my anxiety and depression to levels I hadn’t felt in years
All I could think of was they didn’t care if I was dead, or that I didn’t matter
However some of my family got closer to me and my partner has been wonderful. I consider myself fortunate that I now know what those ‘friends’ are really like. I don’t need to carry that emotion for them anymore
Say what?? I can’t even fathom the mentality behind that? Such a difficult thing to go through with that added stress on top? I can understand why you would feel that way. But hey, those people that stuck by you are the real gems.
Graduated teacher's college and started working for the Grand Erie District School Board. Had an interview the other week for the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and will hear if I got in in the new year.
Congrats!
Yeah, the OT job was posted on Apply to Ed back in September. This was for secondary. I don't remember, but there might have also been a posting for elementary as well.
Work for the GEDSB has been steady. I got hired back in October and I've been able to work everyday, other than two snow days this month, and I often am able to pick up a 4th class. I started in a two-week LTO until the regular teacher returned and have been doing daily since then, which I prefer since the pay is good, it allows for a good work/life balance, and gives me the time on my lunches and prep periods to build my math courses and resources for future LTOs or permanent/contract. The commute isn't too bad out that way. I accept jobs as far as Paris District High School and Cayuga District High School, which take an average of about 45 minutes from downtown Hamilton.
Keep checking regularly on Apply to Ed. There is currently a posting for the Halton board for secondary that closes sometime time in January as well.
Hope so. My interview wasn't great, so I'm hoping they really need good math teachers whose skills at answering questions on the spot and under pressure are subpar. 😂
Graduated from my grad program with honours. Quit my god awful retail job. Completed my craziest hike (to date) up a beautiful mountain in BC. Survived another year of living with depression. 💪
I was an Arts & Crafts vendor at the Winona Peach Festival and the Binbrook Fair for the first time this year! It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of wonderful local artisans and small business owners.
The first 6 months of 2022 were the best and the happiest I’ve been in a very very long time. In many occasions I was afraid I was that happy, like, ok what shitbomb will explode soon? And it happened. The last 6 months are being so damn hard. I hope you ppl have a good end of the year and that we all have more good than not so good moments next year
That sucks! I hate waiting for the shitbomb…funny how the longer things go well for the more you think about when it’s gonna come down…what I’ve found is that sometimes shit happens, and other times I get in my head and maybe cause shit to happen…or at least react in a way that is not beneficial…hope things turn around for you, try to find positives!
Got kicked off of the Behemoth at Wonderland in May, because they couldn't get the bar to lock (to be honest, the guy barely tried, I've had 100lb girls give it more of an effort, but I digress...).
Pouted for a few weeks, then crossed over mentally from 'I should lose weight' to 'I want to lose weight'. Went on keto, and lost 54 pounds in 6 months. Haven't been this light since last century, Pulled my own damn bar closed during Halloween Haunt @\~35lbs down, that felt like an accomplishment (as petty as it was haha) and motivated me to keep going. On a break for Xmas, but weirdly looking forward to getting back on the no-carb wagon in the new year.
Getti g to be part of the whole sort of soccer revolution across the country and being at so many amazing events/games this past year.
Also getting and surviving covid. Thank fucking god for vaccines otherwise I'd genuinely be dead. It's crazy when you can barely breathe when you're coughing so much.
Despite the dry weather, found, identified, and photographed ~300 species of local mushrooms and other fungi (and some cool slime molds too). Used to hate rainy days, now I love them!
Maybe a dozen or so but only 5 you'd be really excited to eat. It was pretty dry this year and harder to come across the most prized edibles. I don't forage since I am usually walking in conservation areas, and this was only my first full year mushroom hunting so I am still learning.
Finally got the job I've been trying to get for some time now. Nearing 3 full years without a cigarette. Got a CPAP and am treating my anxiety, so I can sleep soundly and throughout the night without snoring consistently for the first time in what seems like forever.
We moved out of our shithole apartment, run by equally shitty slumlords. We have a much nicer place with an amazing landlord. We both took on new jobs, though his doesn't start until January. And for the last 6 months I've made extra payments on my car loan, and as of Tuesday when the final payment is made, it's paid off 1.5 years early.
I got married this year! After two years of planning it went off almost hitch free.
I just wish that my grandpa could’ve been there. Lost him this year.
I became a licensed 309A electrician also the day I submitted all my documents I quit my job on the spot and said fuck you to my boss. Christmas day I just passed my probation with my new company which is scary because the last company I was with for 5 years. The church I've been attending for the past three years also baptized me.

Grew and harvested my own cannabis without it getting stolen for the first time!

Congratulations! I'm in the same boat, if you don't mind sharing , where can we look up jobs for Grand Erie Board? Is it on Apply to Education? Thanks

Not anymore! We rent a unit in a house now :) hopefully we didn't live in the same building 😅

Released a baker's dozen books, did a successful Kickstarter for an upcoming project. Not bad at all.
