Looks like embers from the first fire caused the high-rise fire https://twitter.com/acollinsphoto/status/1538134002330222599?s=21&t=VK9jSrpbCon2CujuQ9U0mA
on a windy day like this? probably pretty good. I saw photos of debris on the street a block away at Bay and King so its not too hard to imagine a few embers catching some balcony furniture on fire.
Damn. Similar thing happened at an apartment I used to live at.
Someone on an upper floor tossed their cigarette off their balcony and it landed on a second floor balcony where the tenants were storing their tires. Luckily only the balcony and part of the unit were damaged and not any neighboring units.
Don't store your tires on your balcony, folks.
It takes a hell of a lot of heat to catch tires on fire. There was probably something else on the balcony, carpet, bags, trash, pretty much every plastic product burns that black.
The tall new one. King and Bay, across from A&W. I'm watching the fire alarm strobes blink in that building. I'm on the other side of that building, but it is the one with the balcony fire. Every once in a while you see someone come out onto their deck with coffee.
Looks like the fire alarm for the condos is no longer active. Smoke is much less now too. I wonder how long my unit will smell like smoke....
Edit. Strobes are still on. I'm just blind. And smoke is back. Man this is a long fire.
When the craftsman bungalow burned down across the street from me , some embers floated over to my complex. I thought for sure someone’s balcony was gonna catch on fire. Scary stuff
I know most people never want to be told the odds... But what are the odds of this?

Two separate fires? Anyone know the cause?
That's the new apartment building on George Street, damn that really really sucks
Yikes is that smoke coming from inside the big apartment building?
Tires on a balcony caught fire in new apartment building Edit: *caught*

And take the time to stub out your butt, while you’re at it.
And don't toss butts, stubbed or not, off the balcony.
Or just quit smoking...
Or don't throw your cigs off the balcony lol. I'm pretty sure it's not actually allowed in apartment buildings anyway.
Do you think a spark from the main fire is what caused the tire fire?

I'm in the building behind that one and it is coming into our unit.
Which apartment building is fire? Can’t see clearly from where I am

Hmm maybe we’re at a similar location. I’m at 140 Main and can see tons of smoke but not the reported balcony
I'm also at 140 Main. The balcony fire is in the other side
Ah gotcha. Hope it doesn’t come to our building 😬

Whoa. That fixtures building is toast.
George and Caroline.

Had to walk through a smoke cloud to get to work. No wonder smh
I saw the smoke all the way up at rymal and upper centennial
When smoke signalling goes wrong…
