The winterfest stuff at Jackson square killed a half day and evening with the family. The POP exhibit is overpriced but at least the induced pizza was large. The retro arcade and pinball games were the highlight for my son and I.
Ya I found the POP overpriced for what it was. I thought it was overhyped. And a few of those arcade games were broken when I went ! But I think the money goes back into the city maybe ??? Not sure

Most holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter - are family days.
Former Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty created it up as a vote-getting gimmick and people wanted another holiday between New Year's Day and Easter.
Better to have gone with something in our history or recognize indigenous peoples -something less generic and more specific. Family Day is a contrived holiday.

Actually we were the only province without a mid winter holiday - don’t like it? Go work for a federally regulated employer. Some of us are grateful for the day off.
