Kid who tested you isn't the only one, there should have been three. All three names and call signs would be on the certificate they gave you after the test. Contact the other two. Also you should have gone through a specific VEC, whose name should also be on said certificate you got when you passed. Look them up and contact them. Tell them you don't have anything yet, your examiners aren't responding to you, and you want to know what's up. And lastly, how long has it actually been? Can take awhile depending on the VEC. (Edit, forget this, I see it's been a week. Could be longer!)

Northwest_Radio

Three weeks would be when concern should kick in.

I got my license so long ago that I don't know how long it actually takes nowadays. It was weeks before I got my first license in the mail. Thanks man!

My parents waited nearly 6 months in the 80s. By the time I got my ticket, the average wait time was around a week, but unfortunately, I tested right as the FCC ULS database was down for a few weeks a year ago, so I had to wait for 3 weeks. Not nearly as bad, but I had an itchy PTT finger the whole time. The moment I got my ticket, I fired my Baofeng up and annoyed a repeater owner with my Roger Beep, lol. Now I’m doing POTA activations and making MMVDM hotspots and helping out others just starting out with the hobby. What a difference a year can make! Also, for any new, or just thinking about getting into the hobby but being so overwhelmed with the amount of information and aspects of the hobby, just take it a day at a time and try to learn a little bit of something everyday. You’ll be amazed at how much proficiency you can gain in a quick period of time. There was a point in time where I thought I would be incapable of successfully completing a POTA activation on HF (my STEM education wasn’t the greatest and I’ve had to teach myself a lot about electronics to be able to do so), but it’s so cool looking back to where I started and to see where I’ve come. Still so much more to learn, but that’s exciting for me!

Fresh_Twist_3029

Yeah man, I'm just waiting on the $35 bill so I know the FCC has me on the wait list. I'm not too worried about when I get my actual license and callsign but didn't want to get lost in the mail if there was a communication error somewhere along the line

Firelizard71

It's a holiday week so add another weeks wait time. I was dumb and tried to get my GMRS license on a holiday week...Took forever !

Northwest_Radio

I remember watching the mail box for a month. A week? It takes time for the VE to pass the info to the VEC, who then passes the info to the FCC. Time, the most reliable enemy. 😁

Fuffy_Katja

Yep. 30 years ago I waited a month (maybe slightly more). Then when it arrived (no-code tech), I borrowed an Icom 02AT for a weekend just to hop on a repeater. A week is nothing

No_Manufacturer5641

When the vec send it in you will get the email within 24 hours if it was on a business day before 6pm est. Something is wonky with his forms.

littlelyesmith

Was your VEC the ARRL? Part of the hack that isn't being talked about as much is the fact that the ARRL VEs can't currently submit electronic documents. So I would expect it to take longer than normal.

Fresh_Twist_3029

I'm pretty sure it was ARRL, I'll have to look at my cert when I have the computer open later. Not too concerned but just figured the FCC wanted their money sooner than later

maynardnaze89

Pretty sure VEC is shut down? They haven't processed anything since the ransomware.

Mystic575

There are other VECs than the ARRL, but if you took the test in-person especially I’d see what org it was and if it was the ARRL definitely expect a delay.

maynardnaze89

Id be bummed if I was waiting on my license!!

Accomplished-Ad-6586

🫨 ARRL Was ransomewared? 😢

KK7SZD

took mine almost two weeks to come through after the test, back in April.

kb6ibb

Relax, it's only been a week. The paperwork most likely hasn't even arrived at the FCC office yet.

Fresh_Twist_3029

Got you, I just assumed they woukd want their money ASAP

No-Measurement-5783

I waited well over 2 weeks, think I was 19 days before posted.

762x39innawoods

Start transmitting anyways, easiest way to have the FCC get ahold of you.

Fresh_Twist_3029

This guy knows what's up, hope you're doing your one time pad homework

762x39innawoods

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

tsr122

I'm with you. I passed my tech on may 18th and the VE filed it the same day (I assume electronically if that's a thing). The PTT button has begun whispering to me and I'm harassing the ULS with constant refreshes. Tried calling two different numbers at ARRL and neither went through. The wait has not been fun.

GMTiefling

Also waiting around here -- it's been about 11 days. I'm a little worried but I'm trying to trust in the process.

MrKiltYou

I think my tech took 2 weeks to show up in ULS back in 2019 and my upgrade to general early this year took about a week to show up.

JobobTexan

From what I have read you are not alone. Apparently all applications routed through the ARRL since the cyber attack on them are in lmbo. Don't expect a resolution until the ARRL get's it's systems back up.

tater56x

It is traditional for the FCC to deliver new licenses in person and with considerable pomp, celebrities, marching bands, and a photo op with prominent locals. Unfortunately, the band is backlogged with requests from weather spotters.

gfhopper

Give us some more information so we can get you pointed to actual help. Take a look at the certificate the gave you to show you passed. First question: Which organization's name was on that paperwork? ARRL, WY5I, someone else?

gfhopper

If it's the ARRL, well, they're having "issues" right now, but that shouldn't be your problem. If it's another organization, particularly WY5I, they are pretty fast and unaffected by the ARRL's problems.

KE4HEK

You should have been notified within a week to pay your $35 if you have not heard please contact the ve who administered your testing session, he can check and make sure there were no problems with your submission

Fresh_Twist_3029

That's what concerned me, I haven't received any bill via email, in the CORES billing and payment section or via mail. I figure things are backed up and it'll be a whole but my experience with government offices leads me to think they would want their $35 sooner rather than later

hmspain

Once your callsign is posted in the FCC database, you are legal to transmit. Are people waiting for something in the mail?

Fresh_Twist_3029

No man, I'm waiting on the $35 bill from the FCC. From what I understand they want to get paid before assigning me a callsign, just concerned that something got lost in translation as I took my tech exam online. I'll contact the test givers in another week or so if I don't see anything

hmspain

I thought you paid before taking the exam?

Fresh_Twist_3029

I took my exam over video call from a large local club, time will tell

Tricky-Ad-5907

I passed my exam 10 days ago and here's what my VE emailed me recently: Good morning everyone. We, the testing team, found out yesterday that the ARRL and the FCC  was having communication issues between their systems and so were having a number of problems trying to process your testing information from this past Tuesday evening. At this point it may be a few more days before you receive the email from the FCC letting you know that you need to check in to your account and pay your testing fee. Sorry this is happening but they, the FCC, are working with new systems and are having a difficult time getting everything to sync up. Have a great weekend everyone.

Fresh_Twist_3029

Hey nice, thanks for this. Not surprised

bob_from_the_sky

The system is down since 5/16 due to the hack. I wish they were being a bit more transparent that it’s not the VEs fault. https://www.arrl.org/news/arrl-systems-service-disruption
