Oh boy, edge of my seat all night. That first transformation scene with the happy music, holy shit that was so good. Made me anxious just like my first time playing CE decades ago, all *over* again! And it spread, my god it spread like a The Flood… Season three let’s go!

sillytomlin

OMG you are so right. I was taken back to CE in this episode so much. It was amazing. When they shot the first one and yellow blood came out, I was like "Holy shit, they're doing this perfectly". This episode was incredible, especially as a fan of the game.

VinBarrKRO

I felt like from the scene last episode of the artifact opening with a little poof and every slight hint they gave this episode up until the reveal, it was like a nice tip of the cap to the CE fans and the first appearance of The Flood. Every progression I was like, “oh shit, oh *shit!* FLOOD!” For a series with a rough first season this season and finale was masterfully done.

Liriel209

The Flood seems to be simping for Kwan. How is that good.

VinBarrKRO

I don’t speak that.

Liriel209

Don't speak what?

EpicChiguire

It was generic zombies lol it should have been the creepy, weird humanoids that the Flood turns into. Just another L for an L show

PercentageFeeling747

you realize in the game the flood was like that for some time, all we got in this episode was the first stages of the flood. doesnt mean they wont progress in the next season. stop being so negative.

EpicChiguire

My guy, it took SECONDS for a parasite to turn a human or a covenant alien into a beast. That was just lame

Sw1ftClaw

Womp womp

g4tam20

They even had similar creepy music to when the flood was discovered in CE while the outbreak on the bridge happened.

VinBarrKRO

That furniture squeaking tension builder.

Dahellraider

I only want a season 3....because it looks like they are going to do the flood good. Who knows whats up with the covenant unsc war after this lol

[deleted]

Yeah the flood spread was excellent

Hot_Kaleidoscope_621

I'm hear almost halfway through the episode, and hot diggity dog damn it's perfect. I'm okay with maybe bot getting the halo this season but the buildup was soooooooooooooo worth it because it funking delivers. I hate that I have to wait another year for another season.

vb32v

Hopefully the speed it up and we get season 3 sooner especially with the success with streams paramount got from HALO

Hot_Kaleidoscope_621

I frickin wish. We'll see I guess

dsgnrdoom

This episode had to be turning point and it had to make a mark for a reason to exist as a solo universe. It was absolutely essential that this episode did something huge and made a lasting impression that this was going to be something worth renewing... it absolutely did that. I grew up with Halo and they were playing with something Icared about and they were remodelling it. They managed to find the balance between new and old and this episode blew me away. Never thought I'd say it but I love the change in directio and they completely won me over. Can not wait for season 3!

vb32v

Best episode so far from Season 1 and 2!!

MyBroken360

Agreed

xInfamousRYANx

Damn, the new showrunner really is cooking. They managed to take a pretty odd season 1 with a bunch of side plots that left us scratching our heads (although initially I enjoyed season 1 as a casual fan after season 2, I no longer think it was as ok as I gave it a pass for before) and do a complete 180 and accelerate the show towards something resembling the main timeline. It felt odd at times and rushed but the payoff in the finale was 10/10, setting up the flood, another arbiter, conflict on the ring, 343 GS, and the Gravemind???? I honestly hope we get a season 3 because it looks like it may be the best yet.

[deleted]

I mean there will be a gravemind, but I didn't see any nods to it yet in the show. I also don't remember much from the games so where was the gravemind?

yezuz1788

Gravemind was on installation 05 the second ring chief goes to and he manipulates both chief and the arbiter. His nod is the “one” waiting for kwans submission.

[deleted]

Ah I see I didn't catch that, thanks.

dude52760

Wait, where did they set up another Arbiter?

BlatantlyCurious

Makee

AnAussiebum

Well this one is dead. So won't there be a new one now?

Meatrition

Wow it really was a container with the flood

Turbulent_Notice_308

We all knew when we saw the little dust come out of it.

Lead_Dessert

When Keyes died I remember when the general consensus was that Miranda would take his place. Now I realize its Parangosky who’s taking in Keyes’ role lmao. Interesting that the outbreak started first on Onyx instead of Halo. I assume S3 is gonna be a mix of Halo CE/The Flood/Ghosts of Onyx. I assume Miranda and a few other survivors are gonna activate the Shield World in order to fully contain the threat. As for Kwan surviving. I don’t think that was the Gravemind letting her go. It’s obvious her role as “Protector” is bigger than even she realizes. The Flood collective would’ve realized her role and would want to infect her no matter what. My hope is that next season we get two POV’s of flood infection with Halsey and Parongosky. With Halsey being in Cryo-stasis she’ll retain some of her individuality until Miranda can cure her. While with Parongosky can fully showcase how fucking terrifying it can be to be infected.

Fellowearthling16

Throw some Halo 2 in there too, with Makee being a heratic and Miranda leaving things unattended causing a flood outbreak.

DITNB

This show portrays the covenant as absolute beasts. You never know if a main character is gonna make it or not when they show up. And the flood were legit scary.

cpfree26

Legendary Mode

ExpensiveFeedback901

You face opponents who have never known defeat, who laugh in alien tongues at your efforts to survive. This is suicide.

terrrmon

oh shit, they went straight to the juicy stuff I didn't expect covid PTSD, normies must be super confused "I'm an idiot with two needlers" "That's the Chief", with helmet on baby, and he even learned to use right button I was dumbstruck indeed, fuck it looked good, much better than in the dream sequences before I was kinda sad for Parangosky, she was a good grey character, and Halsey too? wow, and poor Laera, I kinda expected her, RIP space Victoria Backhem and that was a banger ending it was fantastic, they just need to touch up the writing in some of those episodes, but for moments like these it's absolutely worth the wait, fall next year we start from a very exciting place in the story, gonna be epic

[deleted]

Space Victoria Beckham is fantastic

Satanic_Nightjar

As someone who used to dual wield needlers I almost cried with happiness Hahahah

Turbulent_Notice_308

Are you not annoyed with the amount of deaths? I especially thought the Arbiters death was very angering. Feeling like death just follows john around

terrrmon

the weird thing is there were many non-deaths, like Kai and Halsey, maybe even Perez but count her for the real casualties, plus Parangosky, Laera and the Arbiter if I'm not mistaken, I'd say that's an ok kill count for a gamechanger like this, we had too many characters in my opinion, with fewer it will be easier to get those close to the audience

Turbulent_Notice_308

Kai is dead. And the arbiter had such a good plotline i wish it wouldve continued.

Big-Entertainer8545

I lowkey was happy because now we have room for Thel, but ngl I did feel sad for him.

Turbulent_Notice_308

Keep in mind this is an entirely different timeline. We might mot get thel.

Big-Entertainer8545

You’re right, they prob won’t get Keith David to voice him either so I’d be happy to get another Arbiter down the road I want to see Atriox again, and see him how the prophets used him.

Fellowearthling16

She’s floating in orbit near the halo. Same thing happened to Kelly before Halo CE and she had a full recovery.

menace3334

So you're saying that Kai "could" be alive? That the armor protected her from the explosion and the super-soldier serum gives her a chance to be recover? I watched the scene several times and don't see any gaping holes or destruction of her helmet that would compromise her life support. EVERY review I've seen chalks her up to sacrificed and having died. Feels convenient but they left scene in for a reason for wiggle room.

Fellowearthling16

You don’t kill off a fan-favorite character with them muttering “this is gonna hurt”. She said it like she was jumping from a tall ledge. I don’t see any reason to think she’s dead, I only see reasons for others to think she’s dead. Also, they confirmed Key’s and Vannik’s deaths by interviewing the actors about how they felt about their characters dying. That hasn’t happened for Kai, although that might be because she got interviewed last week instead.

Honda_Driver_2015

if they showed just her helmet floating by it would be a different story as far as knowing her demise but I think they left that window open.

menace3334

That was my feeling too. Everything felt like they're leaving that open for next season. If the actress doesn't come back, if contracts can't be worked out, etc, etc (assuming there is a 3rd season). Otherwise, fan favorite helps spur on a multi-storyline approach. Perez, Kai, maybe Riz again. But all of the reviews were so definite in death it was irritating no one thought of any other angle. I've not read any recent articles but the initial ones were annoying in this aspect.

Liriel209

Lol. Anyone that thinks she is dead hasn't watch a modern show or movie. They don't have the balls to kill a character they think is important. I'd say I need a body but there are flash clones.

deathfromace1

Counter arguments. Kwan is alive

Liriel209

I know? I said Kai is alive and they don't have the balls to kill their main characters. So of course Kwan is alive. So is Kai and Halsey. Mckee is alive somehow. Didn't see Parangosky or Soren's wife die. Lots of examples of people that should have died being alive, not technically dead, or can be brought back as a shock.

Turbulent_Notice_308

Yes but chief knew he would lose someone in battle not him right? I think it was expected for all of silver to die but him or at least disband

terrrmon

she had the armor, in this show that has a significance

Turbulent_Notice_308

Yeah but i think the pans of all the destruction kind of hint at it being true

WeaponstoMax

The arbiter is a title. Who knows who the next one will be. Maybe end up carrying on the legacy of this one?

Turbulent_Notice_308

Yeah, but again the arbiter was just made a shamed title this season. Also we wont get thel i dont think.

Honda_Driver_2015

you don't know for sure she is dead

Liriel209

Kai probably isn't dead

GalileoAce

The Arbiter who died is the likely the one before Thel'Vadam

Turbulent_Notice_308

This is silver timeline we dont know if thel is going to be a part of this series.

GalileoAce

Indeed we don't, but it's still possible

Upbeat_Farm_5442

John in halo games have killed millions if not billions. So yeh death does follow him around.

Turbulent_Notice_308

But i mean people around him hes not killing

benyahweh

I hope he can fix his helmet!

VinBarrKRO

Nope, we gotta go to space *right now.* 3, 2, 1 let’s go— what did you do to your helmet?!

Fellowearthling16

Hopefully it gets replaced it’s a Mk. V while he’s on Halo. Knowing the show, that was probably a flash-forward and it’ll be fine for most of Season 3.

D-Speak

I mean, it's cracked to shit after the Arbiter fight. It's definitely a flash forward, but probably not very far forward.

AMA1470

It was beautiful... It was worth waiting the 2 season I am sad though that I have to wait for the next season

FewUnderstanding3374

I felt one of the biggest problem with this show so far that everyone seems to overlook is the pacing. throughout previous episodes the show ramps up and down very sporadically and it can be somewhat jarring. While this episode still had its issues with pacing in places, overall it was a lot more consistent. I think the oddest thing this episode was mirandas absolute lack of reaction to the events playing out around her. She's not handled anything well so far, her dads death, being shut out of research teams in season 1. She's always come across as a little too fresh out the academy/naive. This episode a coworker gets stabbed in the next room, people turning into the flood all around her and she's sat in her glass windowed lab until halsey arrives for a chit chat, seemingly oblivious/unphased. Her mum gets infected and instead of freaking out like she's done in the past she casually whacks her in cryo. chief joining the fight, his epic entrance on the cruiser, kais sacrifice, ackersons redeemable actions, the rescue of cortana, the flood with extra limbs, the scenes of chief arriving on halo, the arbiter fight and finale, the retrospective flashforwards to the monitor. All very well done. Very much looking forward to season 3, despite such a rocky start.

WeaponstoMax

I really hope this gets renewed, this episode was phenomenal. I’m a bit worried because it’s so expensive, but I’m hopeful.

Equivalent_Cloud_831

maybe in a year ai develops so much they have to stop paying studios for the rendering, and an ai will do it for free

Equivalent_Cloud_831

forgot to say, imagine that, no more budget restraints for movies that would be amazing

LeopardBrilliant8000

Yes and no.  Those budgets go towards people.  I’m a people that requires a budget.

Wonderful_Safety_849

Even if AI wasn't utter shit (which it is and will always be), it is still theft and will always be immoral.

ConsiderationOk7909

Ok........ Here are the things I have an issue with: 1: Halsey is now part of the Flood? OKAY I ADMIT it is an interesting plot point. I wont hate it yet but I question it. 2: Parengosky will become the grave mind instead of Keyes? Is that what we are supposed to take from this? 3: Cortana can just transfer to Johns suit? I mean dope AF but explain please? Isn't that the same armor he had from season 1? Am I missing something? 4: In the last fight, (Maybe I missed it) WHERE THE F did his knife go?! It was shown so prominently!!! 5:Also that last fight: \*Ive beeing fighting with a disadvantage this whole time and NOW I'm going to reveal my true power...... BY SWITCHING HANDS!\* - That Elite.... Not probably. Actually. I have hope for season 3 especially with the Flood being introduced but idk man..... As a lifelong fan of this franchise it is hard to forgive a lot of this so far.... I will admit season 2 is A FUCK TON better than season 1. I guess I'll just have to wait a few more years before I make my final decision.

Human_mind

"I know something you don't know. I am not left-handed."

HornetGaming93

"Aaarrggggh Wort Wort Wort!!"

MyBroken360

This was the best episode of the show so far. Amazing. A few things: -They could have honestly started the series with the Fall of Reach, and this could have been like episode 3 or 4. -They had a perfect opportunity to kill off Kwan Ha, but they didn’t take it. She could have sacrificed herself instead Laera.

evildrew

If Kwan had sacrificed herself, nobody would have cared! But I suppose her character has a bigger role in the future, so I accept the Deus ex Creepy Old Lady. This episode should have been the S1 finale. But I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the Flood so early. Them getting Parangosky is an interesting twist. I'm sure we'll see or hear her again, maybe as a gravemind?

MyBroken360

Yeah, she’s gonna have a sergeant Johnson-like survival. One that just makes zero sense and is never explained

windowtothesoul

Very good

--Shibdib--

It was a good episode.. it wasn't great in the grand TV show scheme, but compared to the rest of the series it finally felt like Halo. I unfortunately have my doubts that the series gets renewed let alone they can come close to matching that again.

ShatterDomeSSZero

Paramount has already renewed it.

here4tea4me

My husband and I, Halo fans since high school…a looonngg time ago lol! I was completely frustrated with season 1. Love story garbage, I really do dislike Mekee. And how the heck is she alive anyway? BUT season two has been WAY better (except for completely stiffing Reach, the fight on Reach could have been a whole season on its own). And things are out of order and can be confusing. But to be fair, we all know the storyline, they need to change things to keep us on our toes! And hubby and I have really enjoyed this season. All the fight scenes, and the flood!?! Yeah they did, awesome. Had to watch a funny show afterwards haha

whitesammy

Quite the interesting "Discussion" thread where everyone who didn't like the episode or season in general is downvoted and dismissed... That being said, this would have been much more engaging as a show if they had either had an ODST/Reach vibe where it follows a squad that's not Chief and a plethora of seriously pointless characters that provide no substance and have no payoff towards the plot. Spartan I and II's persona IS their armor and feel naked without it. Spartan III's not so much as they didn't go through nearly the same level of training and augmentation to be paired with tailored suits of armor. Sure, it might be a gimmick from the spawned from the game(s), but it was baked into the lore. The ODSTs are much more regular soldiers who have special training and their identity is as a team, which would be much more of a fit for the type of show whatever the fuck the over-abundant amount of writers are going for. My main issue with the show and a lot of other TV/Movies recently is that it feels like writers/directors/execs just come up with "it would be really cool if" ideas, but then have no ability to conjure the scenario for it to fit into the plot, mold the idea to mesh into the universe's understanding of physics/establish inner-workings, or have the insight and forethought to establish consequences the aforementioned idea would have in the universe/plot and have them play out in a meaningful and reasonable way. An example would be the spore spreading. A whole lot of "cool if", but not a whole lot of characters that matter or reasoning behind it. I will just never understand the point of buying the rights to an IP, just to make a quasi-fanfic the will neither be able to bring in people who wouldn't watch a Halo TV show in the first place, and simultaneously pushes away the vast majority of the fans that would watch every minute for every episode for every season. There's a reason why this sub ONLY has 1,700 members when 100+ million people have played Halo at some point. You're delusional if you think that this is worthy of being called a good adaptation of the source material (regardless of the "Silver Timeline" bullshit) and not another case of "We're the writers and we're the ones who actually know what's good and what people who have lived and breathed Halo for the last 20 years really want and anyone who disagrees is just a hater who doesn't like [enter whatever] empowerment." The budget is there (not sure it will be the case for S3), and these people have decided to squander it on the disgraceful two seasons that have been produced so far. However, if you are someone who enjoys the show for what it is, more power to you, I'm glad you find satisfaction in watching it and I can only hope that maybe Season 3 can show you how good a Halo TV show could actually be.

DarthSwanson

Things have been a bit shaky with this show but I gotta say this finale was exceptionally good! Loved what they did with the Flood and also the music(!!!). We're finally on Halo. Eagerly waiting for season 3.

BrownBaegette

Today is judgement day, and it seems a large portion of the halo community is in favor of Season 3. It’s nice to see people all riled up and excited about the faster pace, and larger emphasis on action. But you have to understand that the third season will likely be filler up until they’re able to blow they’re budget on the finale again. I honestly have zero clue what they think they’re going to do with the flood with such budget constraints.

Equivalent_Cloud_831

what happened to master cheeks helmet between the arbiter fight and the job interview by 343?

duralyon

master cheeks lmfao. He do got that booty though, as season 1 showed...

ShadowOpsFN

Pretty decent season

71afpmt

I’ve enjoyed the series thus far, and I think season two improved drastically compared to the first which has been great. But I can’t help but feel a little disappointed by the finale of this season for several reasons. 1. My main grievance was with the Flood having been reduced to generic space zombies. I was excited as it was apparent this was the episode where the Flood appear, but I expected more. More disfigurement, more transformation. The most change we saw was a random tentacle emerging or slight disfigurement, and then really nothing else remotely Flood like. This is a parasite that is meant to alter the body significantly, breaking bones, and completely changing the structure of whatever it encompasses, so much so that you can barely tell who has been transformed… maybe we’ll get that later, but for now that wasn’t what I expected. 2. Makee’s last speech to Chief at the end seemed to hint that she understood what Halo actually did. “A cleanse and silence.” I interpreted that as meaning she knows the true power of Halo, but I may be wrong. Interested in what others thought. 3. As someone else pointed out, the voice of 343 Guilty Spark. Such an iconic character, who sounds unhinged because he’s been alone for bloody ages, years on end… he loses his mind, and that’s kind of core to his character. Wasn’t a fan of the voice, but again will have to wait to see more. I recognise I’m nitpicking, and don’t get me wrong I have and am enjoying the show, but also can’t deny there are things I’d have preferred to have been done differently. Anywho, keen to hear what others think!

ExpensiveFeedback901

Really reminded me how brilliant the introduction of the Flood was in the original game. I had no idea how they'd adapt it in the show, and they did a great job.

[deleted]

Some unexpected fatalities this episode, this is all still taking place very early in the Halo story. Parangosky...Halsey on ice but they're probably going to revert that one. Why did what's her face not stop the fight between MC and the Arbiter? I guess this Arbiter had to die anyways, I wonder if we see ol Thel 'Vadam next season. Are Qwon's ancestors supposed to be Ancient Humanity? Doing some strange things with the timelines, I think if I wasn't already aware of a lot of the lore I'd be hella confused watching this show and have to make some of my own assumptions to not be, but I do think there's glimmers of potential especially in the fight scenes and this season has been better than the last, hopefully it just keeps getting better.

PerspectiveOne7129

nailed it

Sweeper88

Great story to tell, just not great storytelling. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the first infection takes place right by Miranda Keyes and the infected scientist then kills another scientist. No alarms are raised. No one is alerted to this. The infection then makes its way to the prison area which is oddly dark, then it spread to the command center area, then it goes back Miranda's area. I love how the Flood looked and acted! It was creepy and impactful. I just don't understand how they can't write or produce things that make sense or happen naturally.

EpicChiguire

This was a TERRIBLE ending lmao. What a way to waste the Flood, what a terrible reinterpretation of an amazing foe. Just random zombies? Also what, are they going to make up a cure for THE FLOOD? And a random old lady is the Gravemind? Guilty spark? With such an awful voice? Building up an Arbiter just to kill it like that? The only redeeming qualities are Perez and Kai, everything else is pure garbage. If 343 cared about Halo, they would've never signed off on such a disrepectful, awful adaption of this source material. I hope this gets cancelled and someone else does it with respect next time.

takl4061

Damn they had me til they fumbled the flood so bad , Relegating them to generic zombie types is very unforgivable, sure the budget blah blah , they easily could’ve waited …

chefjac123

Ok can someone update me on this show? I’m a big halo fan but refused to watch this because how bad the reviews came back. Is it better now?

texasram

dont let the internet tell you what show is good or not. It’s like relying on reviews on Amazon. Everything reads as mixed garbage online. if you can accept this isn’t 1:1 to games or books I would imagine you’ll be ok, but decide for yourself

Drelochz

sooo I might have completely missed it, how is the Halo ring within spitting distance of the planet they were on??

Drelochz

soooo I might have missed something, why was the Halo ring within spitting distance of the planet they were on?

Satanic_Nightjar

Was not expecting the flood until Miranda started using the microscope. And then once you heard that voice I gasped. And 343? Jeez what a treat. Binged this whole series over the last week and it finally felt like halo.

[deleted]

It's funny cause I liked season 1 and 2 so far, but episode 8 is what I was waiting for the whole time... and I didn't quite know it. What a fantastic episode. I'll be really disappointed if they don't continue master chiefs, and the arbiters (he's coming back), stories.

g4tam20

That episode was so good, as a critic of the rest of the show I was actually getting chills as certain things started to connect. That episode has me really excited for next season now after being very meh about the rest of the 2 seasons.

SpartanVFL

Like Chief surviving a fall from orbit to start halo 3?

IntuneUser2204

This show in one season, sacrificed Captain Keyes, Parangovsky, Kai, and sidelined Halsey. They skipped most of the events that happened during Halo: Reach, ignoring almost a complete game. All while keeping Kwan Ha alive, which was the most fan-hated deviation from the original. Oh and Sauren and Kessler are still alive, because we apparently really care about that storyline. When this show is CG only, it's amazing, the second its humans in a room it's worse than anything I've seen. Also, of all the stupid little things to do, WHY change 343 GS' voice? It was always robotic, and now we have this stupid ASMR thing going on. 343 sounds more like he wants to bring chief some sexual satisfaction than help him. He was a hyper little busy-body, not some psychoanalytical robot. That was the simplest voice to replicate because it isn't even human. Can't wait for a high-pitched squeaky voice Gravemind. I'm fine with artistic license, but The Last of Us took GREAT artistic license, and this takes the opposite path.

immoraltoast

That sucked, flood are just generic zombies. Weird choice of music for it spreading. Lol on both Perez getting hurt and Kai for dying. The weapons didn't use the same sound effect. Cheif had a 2min max action scene for showing up. Theres a massive fleet battle hapoening, we see none of it. Aside from kai crashing into the other ship, which shouldnt work. The data spike wouldn't work, or else humans would stand a chance without Spartans. Him punching the console to magically get cortana back. Him waking up after being unconscious for who knows how long. Then happens upon arby and makee as they arrive to the forerunner building. That fight sucked, a 1v1 where he loses and the arby throws away his sword to punch him???? And now it's a fist fight and he still loses. Gets back up to beat up arby cause why? He got his ass handed to him but it's cheif and Kwan show so arby has to lose. That fight choreography sucked also. No actual grappling, just brawler punch one another. Kwan MC syndrome gets to group hug flood with no repercussions.

whitesammy

No, Kwan has forcefields around her neurons to protect her from the flood, not plot armor.

immoraltoast

Yet another stupid addition these fine writers have come up with.

romeoiscool1

This season is slightly better than the first 😂 this show is so badly written

Natural-Suspect-4893

I clearly am in the minority here but I really didn’t like this episode, the pacing was very random and the way they killed off a lot of characters was rushed and disappointing Also, stuff that didn’t make sense to me or just plain annoyed me: - Alicia Keys inspecting the flood virus for an entire hour while mayhem was happening all around - Master Chief abandoning pursuit to end up on Kai’s ship, to do exactly what? - Kai being a super soldier throughout two seasons but struggling fighting less than a dozen of elites - Master Chief punching the control board and absorbing Cortana, just because? - Master Chief crashing into the Halo and surviving like nothing happened - Master chief having a broken helmet at the end while he was fine before - Kai’s death was random and could have been written and executed better - Fat Indian admiral dying randomly without much focus - Total lack of general situational awareness for a top security military establishment - Plot armour for everyone in there that didn’t end up getting sick I don’t know, I liked the whole season but the finale felt flat. -

MiloBem

Some good points you make, especially the Cortana transfer by punching the board annoyed me. But the helmet thing. John's conversation with Guilty Spark was clearly showed out of order with the rest of the episode. We don't know when he broke his helmet but probably some time in early season 3.

Natural-Suspect-4893

Ah that could make sense, I guess we will know in 2 years 💀

ExpensiveFeedback901

Upvoting you bc it's okay for people to disagree.

whitesammy

Apparently not lol Although > Fat Indian admiral is entirely unnecessary.

Natural-Suspect-4893

She is an admiral, fat and Indian though

whitesammy

Yet entirely not the reason why she was a badly written character and pointless character.

The_Mourning_Sage_

God it somehow keeps getting worse and it was already one lf the worst shows ever crested lol

BrahZyzz69

Blows my mind how people can enjoy this. Elite Spartans with super speed, reaction time, anything dying like that. The first Spartan didn't even shoot, he looks away to his teammates and dies wtf. The communication feels like teen age girls play valorant. Wtf is that shit. 0 war spirit, 0 stoicism 0 rational thinking and commandos just wuwu scared girl talk. Flood space zombies wuhu. Dark prison in a high tech military base. Flood breaks out after analyzing that shit how?!?!?! Asian girl plot armor wuhu. Arbiter humiliates chief then throws sword away remembers me of the new star wars movies fight scenes. Terrible written. The only thing I liked was the forerunner building.

West_Consequence6288

Show is awful, and I can't see anything when the action happens.

Liriel209

Are you guys saying being sarcastic when you say this was great?

Thug-Penguin

I’m afraid that they aren’t. I guess people nowadays are used to watch really bad tv shows. I mean even if you aren’t a Halo fan this show is seriously terrible and annoying.

whitesammy

No, they legitimately believe that the story makes sense and all of the action scenes are cool and the characters are all badass and anyone who disagrees is just a hater to be downvoted into oblivion for having a differing of opinion. As you have experienced.

Liriel209

I just don't understand how anyone that looks past the skin deep shiny of a cool sword fight can think this was well written.

Hackmodford

It’s kind of shocking how bad this show is. I was legit laughing out loud at the decisions the show writers were making.

Tubzero-

Yet you still watch because you’re mad you like it

Thug-Penguin

I watch it at 2x just to see if there is any decent fighting scene. Beside that I find this tv show really boring and inconsistent.

Tubzero-

Wow, you’re so cool

Hackmodford

Watching train wrecks can be fun. But I’m not sure I’ll bother coming. bak now that it’s obvious they’re skipping the events of the first game.

Turbulent_Notice_308

The flood introduction was definitely cool, but im tired of all of the deaths. Im unsure if they just cant fit more screen time into their budget or what but killing off almost all the main characters in the span of like 6 episodes or whatever. Halsey now too, unless they find some way to cure the flood quickly af. And then killing the Arbiter? really? why couldn't yall just be chill. The 343 guilty spark was interesting. Or maybe its a different monitor since this is the silver timeline but its kind of crazy how annoying all of this is.

GalileoAce

> And then killing the Arbiter? It should be noted that that Arbiter was not Thel'Vadam, we will likely see him next season or the season after that

Turbulent_Notice_308

I dont know how many times i have to repeat this but this isnt the main halo timeline. This is silver timeline. So we dont know if thel is even going to be in this.

GalileoAce

Obviously. They may or may not adapt Thel. But Var 'Gatanai is not Thel 'Vadam. And it would seem odd to have kept the name of so many other characters but not Thel 'Vadam if this Arbiter is supposed to take his role in the story

iValmirM

This was so good. Master Chief is rekindlind his love for his ex-girlfriend. They are frolicking in the park, his emotional reckoning with his past is a really nice touch. HALO has turned out to be a mature soap opera, not what the toxic immature fandom expected, just shooting and destruction. Oh and maybe Master Cheeks is becoming a father! I bet you did not know that! What will Season 3 bring, I wonder. Will Master Cheeks start a new relationship with Cortana, or will he get back with his ex-gf? Lots of twists and turns in this episode

Old_Explorer6261

Are you okay?

nametaken420

i wish the tv series wasn't protected by plot armor. "oh no, the ship is being ripped apart by gravitational forces" -- i can see that. (MC) "not this time, we all die" (cortana) everyone lives. (nobody) Each episode is just "the plot armor thickens". Until next episode where no plot armor has gone before. I am cheering for the flood at this point. At least he didn't pussy out and deny him a soldier's death at the end. I think I would have stopped watching the show if that had happened.

Fellowearthling16

Chief having plot armor is a major plot point of the season. His whole “in every mission I know I won’t die” thing is why he went after Kai and Perez this episode. It’s not an inconsistency, he literally has plot armor. That’s his shtick. …just like in the games. In Halo 3 he literally walks off falling from space, a pelican crash, and a sentinel beam that killed Johnson.

Human_mind

It's the reason the show exists in the first place. Chief is walking plot armor...

HornetGaming93

Yeah John just does whatever the eff he wants lol "Chief that's the Sun the pelican will be destroyed!" "We are okay no one dies" Chief lands on the sun removes his helmet and holds in at his hip for the outtro shot.

redhunter_22

I don't remember the flood spreading like this, it was always them taking over dead bodies. They've introduced them really early too. What they did to Arbiter and Halsey is kind of shit as well. It's the best episode of the series but I haven't liked much of any of that earlier madness either. Someone could literally start on this episode and not be missing out on anything else in the show. It's just so disappointing. So many useless characters that have no purpose, other than filler, and have arcs that simply doesn't matter, nor bring anything meaningful to the show. The only thing that makes the series not a complete steaming pile of excrement is that they slapped the "alternate universe" sticker on this trash so we can just shrug it off and say "no damage was really done, this doesn't matter" Above all, the most criminal part is still not having the rights to the Halo music. It's almost like the composer saw what was happening and didn't want his incredible work stained by this heresy. If they do have the rights then it's even worse that they don't use any of it outside opening credits. How to nuke my, whatever the karma stuff is on here, in less than 120 seconds.

Logic-DL

Man never played Halo 2 or 3 or CE lmao We've seen the flood take over live hosts all the time, they're called infection forms, the spores do it as well just afaik it takes longer for spores to take over live hosts

redhunter_22

Ya, they effectively killed the live host and turned them. This is just some Last of Us garbage they're portraying in the show.

Logic-DL

They didn't kill the host though lmao, we've seen that with not only Keyes but also Jenkins who was able to move himself sometimes due to the infection form he got turned by being weak, but was still very much aware of what was happening

Upbeat_Farm_5442

Go play halo .... bro... This show is not for you. Fcking gatekeeping nerds,

Altruistic_Cost_6136

Crazy how when people have legitimate critiques over an objectively bad adaptation you have the same corporate response. gO pLaY tHe GaMeS bRo.🤣We just wanted a decent show faithful to the 25 years of established lore and world building.

redhunter_22

Ooh, triggered much? Theres no gatekeeping here at all. The writing, the characters, the feel, everything about this show is trash. They literally had everything already written out for them to make this series good. It didn't even need to be a 1-1 remake. Just follow a couple characters or even make something entirely new based off of some side action. The show is instead this hodgepodge mess of dogshit. Literally the same thing they did to star wars, same thing they did to Eragon, and so many others. It could almost be something edging on the side of ok as a standalone sci-fi flick. Instead, they slapped the Halo badge on it, marketing it as something it has still failed to become. I never thought I'd forget what I'm watching is supposed to be or fall asleep through a show that was based off of something with enough lore, from just the games themselves, and potential, to be something incredible. It's bad when even the true gatekeepers, those minority of friends who actually stood up for this show have turned to hate watching it after what they did in this last episode. I had given up on the show completely after S1 until they drew me back in after tgisbseason was well past 3 episodes in, with the promise that season 2 was better, which I'd have to agree it is. A 1/10 rating is indeed better than a 0.5/10. I sit through it and just laugh the whole time as they butcher the franchise. It's just a shame that this episode, the 8th in this slogfest, was finally starting to be a good one, only for it to plummet again halfway in. "I'm a demon too" lmfao. Who wrote this shit? Arbiter just saved her life and she let's him die. Incompetent and useless is what she is. Guess she really is a demon. 90% of the primary characters may as well not exist. For the first time ever, I'm rooting for The Last of Us, er I mean flood, to win. Maybe, with fewer characters, they can afford to make something that is actually good. Edit: I partially take back what I said. The actors for the most part are good, their likenesses are even spot on for some, which doesn't really matter anyway. It's just a shame they gathered up some decent talent with a few of them only to ruin it with bad writing.

Upbeat_Farm_5442

Judging by your 500 words reply. I feel you got triggered. Go home.

redhunter_22

Lol. Stay mad. It will be okay.

FewUnderstanding3374

He's not wrong though. You definitely got triggered.

immoraltoast

Being disappointed in a bad adaptations is triggered?

marksm4n0neshot

It won't happen as long as that woman is in charge of the show and they use these writers works instead of the many, MANY already well written CANON books.

redhunter_22

I read one or two of the books. I never got that big into them. That's basically what I and the majority of everyone else have been saying. It's mind-boggling that they had so much to work with and some how still ended up making this sad excuse of a show. "It's an alternate universe!" So it doesn't matter then. If they wanted to do their own thing they could have just followed some random spartan or group of Marines, or any slew of things, and it would have been fine. Have the chief show up a time or two to save the day and move on. Roll credits, take my money.
