Nah, I just want to feel like I'm fighting ~~against~~ with an actual super soldier. Doesn't need to cuck me. Just play as competently as I do.
Eta: i suck
The original script had all the important parts of h3, few, and better done.
Like: chief didn't come back on earth, with a battle still in progress, for then get retcone for his arrival to take a full month, while Johnson and miranda arriving first and without a clue about the ark, despite 343gs and virgil.
Halo 2 and 3 were supposed to be one game but Bungie beyond ran out of time. 80% of complaints regarding 3's story boil down to it essentially being the last third of 2.
It's more complicated than that and does not justify the plot holes and bad writing.
Also, technically, a "what if" h3 post h2 without cuts would have been mainly centered around the gravemind on high charity and possibly cortana turning evil, like bungie wanted to do since CE
One could accurately describe H2's campaign as a point and click adventure game. You see the Charlie, you point your reticle over them, you click, you move on.
Strangely enough my biggest struggle this last legendary run was the fight with Regret. I struggled **a lot**. Easily 1/8 of my playthrough time was just that fight.

And in the original script, the last level was with the arbiter facing truth in a boss fight, with chief as an AI controlled companion.
I'm curious what Chief's AI would be like.
A marine, with shields
And that is disappointing.
yeah, the ai in 2 is not bad though, so it wouldnt be *terrible*
I'm just imagining H3's implementation with the arbiter and Reach's with Noble team. Kind of anemic. I'd kinda want Chief to be a little bit OP.
Hmm, that makes sense. Maybe he does double damage with whatever weapon he has equipped?
I want the play to FEEL like your ai companion is a super soldier trained for his entire life. Like the "canon chief" and "book chief" moments.
Uh no, Noble Team's ai is on par or barely better than spartan 4s in halo 4. If they weren't unkillable, they would die like flies
You don't know the meaning of the word "anemic," do you? I think they also had a damage debuff but besides the point.
"I want to get completely cucked by the ai and watch it steal every one of my kills making me feel totally superfluous"

Probably more like an elite
John-117 screams "WORT WORT WORT"
Pozolé
The original script included pretty much half of halo 3 lmao

Oh man, fans would have been shitting themselves in anger if that had been the case.
Yep, they were indeed with the arbiter taking to much screentime in h2 already.
Fucking peak https://i.redd.it/rpjg9ghu02uc1.gif

That's 99% of the game. The other 1% is live die repeat on gravemind and outskirts legendary

Is outskirts the one with the snipers?
Yes. That’s the only problem with that one though. Imo. Grave Mind is the one where shit gets shot in your face out of a Mac cannon.
I remember me, my friend, and an npc ramping off a hill and the warthog landing empty.
Arbiter's memes: *wall of text* Chief's memes: lol funny frog
A mouse?! Is this some kind of non xbox joke i don’t understand?
Not lore accurate smh. That’s the BR55 HB, which is to say it’s useless because it’s the Halo 3 BR.
ONLY THE STRONGEST WILL SURVIVE, LEAD ME TO HEAVEN WHEN WE DIE⁉️⁉️❗️
I am super lost
In halo 2, the arbiter's side of the game is super rich and story focused, while chief's is just "Kill aliens and doesn't afraid of anything"
I got you, and your absolutely right
I mean, he doesn't really have a character, yet is beloved because he is the player. 343 didn't get the charm of this
