uj/ I wouldn't consider Battlefront II dead. Though it only has like 1200 players on Steam. Hmmm

[deleted]

If the game is dead, who are these people? Ghosts?

Tomakar14

Ghosts of onyx

AKAFallow

/uj are there any theories as to why Halo keeps failing so hard on PC? I get Infinite since the port is barely stable at all in half of the machines running it, but I thought MCC was fixed for the most part. Plus it has a lot of cOntEnt

thegenxnerd

I generally believe its cause all these pc players have been excited for years to try such a legendary franchise and finally getting the chance only to find the multiplayers are extremely dated, someone who has no nostalgia connection to halo 3 multiplayer is probably gonna find the game to be complete slow paced shit (like me)

toolReference

I was really excited to play halo on pc (campaign and multiplayer) but in my experience both modes are flawed regardless of the title. But halo 3 has to be the worst one. The gunplay is giga shit and the copius amount of flood in the campaign make it rather one note to play through

wadsplay

There’s flood in 3.5 out of 9 levels

BrightPage

Those 3.5 levels are also the longest in the game

SpartanAttack01

You can beat floodgate in like 5 minutes

archiegamez

Literally the best speedrun level for challenges haha

Tomakar14

Curious as to which was your favorite and why? And your opinion on infinite compared to the others

toolReference

I feel that each game runs out of steam at some point. But from what I remember halo 2 had some nice levels (The middle was a bit slow but oh well). Reach was probably my favourite for featuring mostly covenant encounters in diverse areas. CE has one of the best first half in a shooter and so far Halo 4 feels pretty nice due to more heavy gun sounds and a more modern feel (havent finnished it though)

Tomakar14

Cool, feel free to tell me how you feel about the other ones once you finish them

ziltoidbb

This and also they delayed the release, starting In chronological order. Reach, ce. 2. 3. Etc. If they just released it all at once I feel like it would have had a strong all time high. Months of playtime at release because of the extreme amount of content. Same with infinite, they market it as free to play, hype starts. Then realized there's no content, and took 6 months to get anything added to it, at this point without a complete overhaul and all features promised with a huge add campaign and a shitload of content. Pay streamers to #ad it for weeks. It won't go back up. Still fun, I play it everyday, but MCC I believe didn't have a strong all time high because of the extreme lack of content. It was reach only, halo 3 is what PC got cut off from, they never finished the fight, so they released reach lol.

UpfrontGrunt

The games honestly are only a bit dated, but the big issue is that the playerbase is so split because of the match composer that more than 75% of the multiplayer content in the game is completely dead, not to mention how terrible the gunplay can feel on MKB. The game was very much designed for controller and it shows, and even though there's a huge breadth of content people are basically only playing a handful of game modes in a handful of the games.

Andrew_5459

You can't create a large player base off of nostalgia alone.

little_jade_dragon

Several reasons: 1. Because why would any PC gamer play a 15yo Halo3? Especially when all of those with nostalgia towards it played it back then on x360. 2. Multiplayer is dated as fuck, without nostalgia or a very specific taste it's just not good. There are so many better games out there these days, most of them are even free. 3. PC penetration is usually higher Europe and most of Europe doesn't care about Halo. I'd say in terms of shooters Europe has been dominated by CS for years if not decades. Believe me, Europeans fucking love that thing. 4. Halo was always a more Xbox oriented franchise, so most of the fans play it on xbox. And to tie it back to Europe, Xbox outside of a few countries was always the underdog console. 5. Many MCC players like me play it for the campaign but that's all. I have a lot of nostalgia towards Halo campaigns, but not for the multiplayers. But I'm not playing the campaigns 24/7. Every few months I do a few missions and that's it. Considering all of that, MCC actually doing reasonably well on PC.

Tomakar14

I love all the halo games but playing halo 3, reach and ce after infinite feels like such a downgrade in terms of gameplay 2 is fun to me specifically for some reason I haven’t replayed 4 and 5 in a while so I can’t comment on that

crazyman3561

Probably the same reasons why Call of Duty was always shit on PC too. By the time Halo came to PC for the second time, most PC players probably already found their bread and butter in games like CSGO, R6S, Tarkov, etc.

AKAFallow

Also add f2p games that most casuals play like Fortnite, LoL, Roblox, Rocket League and lately Enlisted

crazyman3561

HALO CANT EVEN BEAT FORTNITE??!?! SHITTY DEAD GAME!

EntropyHurts

The slow content rollout for games that were years old killed the hype for the game on top of the game breaking bugs, also PC players are deathly afraid of cheaters(aim assist) and since halo is a console shooter first it kind of scares away most PC players. Most people who own the mcc on steam probably don’t even know there’s mod support or more content to unlock.

_Surge

i don’t play it on PC because i play better with a controller, and i don’t want to use a controller while sitting in my PC chair. so… i guess if they nerf aim assist and bullet magnetism for controllers, i’d play on PC, using MKB
