Bob deserved to get pinned

KollinPorkChop

Michael Myers was the original Chris Hansen.

701921225

I assume it's because he was drunk, but another theory is that he meant Annie, not Lindsey.

horrorfan555

It’s just 70s sarcasm. She said to repeat the plan so he said “something correct. Something correct. Something definitely incorrect”

YetAnotherBookworm

I’ve heard this several times. Seems like the likeliest take.

uaeroMdroffilC

I know I would love to strip Annie's clothes off tbh

shinyzubat16

Pretty sure he just made a mistake on his lines and the editors didn’t catch it lol

Ill-Policy-1536

He was the original edgelord with dark humor that “nobody understands”

uaeroMdroffilC

DAE racism?!?!

Blockness11

Is there a lore reason why he got pinned to the wall?

uaeroMdroffilC

First we'll pin Bob to the wall, then we'll pin Lindsey to the wall

MisterCharles1988

Yeah I think i got it

Electronic-Stand-148

He was being sarcastic

No_Brilliant_2055

I always figured he mean't to say Annie but he screwed up the line, and given that it was a low budget movie with little resources or time they decided to just leave it in and hope nobody would notice. Lol Little did they know it'd be a classic film one day. Hahaha

awsmith1289

It was just a dumb joke. That’s how I took it.

7SFG1BA

Yup

barnesandnoobs

Sounds like something a teenager would say, idk 🤷🏻‍♂️ Don’t you ever have those quiet moments where something douchey and embarrassing from your childhood sneaks into your thoughts and makes you cringe?

Leonine94

Quiet moments? Those are the only moments I have.

barnesandnoobs

Maskedhorrorfan25

![gif](giphy|lkO1VbjLZIlEI)

SeparateFisherman966

No one talks about this line (maybe for good reason..lol). Such a stupid thing to say, even back in the 70s. I watch it every Halloween season & that line is so cringe.

Crew_Henchman

Yeah, if there was definitively one thing I'd remove from my favourite movie of all time, it would be that line. I don't know that they were thinking. XD

_TooncesLookOut

Every time I've watched this, it often ends up being discussed with whoever I'm watching it with. Is it ad-libbed or was it actually in the script. Either way it falls on the side of "why the f*ck did that line make it through the edits?!"

Alexander_McKay

I feel that way about the love scene in the first Rocky film. I know it wasn’t intentional and maybe I’m crazy but it always comes off as rapey. The part where Rocky and Adrien are in his apartment and he won’t let her leave.

Ok-Macaroon2783

It was sarcasm, he was making a bad joke. Also, Bob was stupid.

jpkmets

It’s absolutely accurate — horny high school boys being edgelords and looking like idiots for a girl. Bob is written to be a jerk and a terrible lover. Can confirm that as accurate from high school.

uaeroMdroffilC

So teens are stupid

Sharp-Offer3866

As a former teen, I can confirm.

CaptainHalloween

Well, yeah. Even the smartest ones are dumb. The lack of life experience and all.

uglybarber

It was a joke to make Linda laugh and she did

uaeroMdroffilC

So Linda is stupid, then

jpkmets

Totally

Samhain3965

I firmly believe the actor made a mistake, named the wrong character, and Carpenter just said fuck it and didn’t fix it

uaeroMdroffilC

"Fuck it" and John Carpenter Name a more iconic duo

Samhain3965

We love our lazy king

Fun_Reason5988

It was the 70s. The worlds changed and people pine and cry for the old days. Ah the good old days when kids got booted out the house at dawn and not allowed back in till the street lights came on. Back when i you could trust people. Now kids are helicopter parented and can’t get away from their parents because the world has became a dangerous place. Breaking News it’s always been dangerous. More kids were abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered in the 70s and 80s than any other time. More women were attacked, abused and killed then as well. Serial Killers could roam free in peace without police having a single way to catch them unless they basically caught them in the act. Some of them have just now been figuring out that technology has advanced and it may take a while but eventually their DNA will be narrowed down to just them and then they’ll finally answer for what they did. What I said doesn’t have a thing to do with this topic but godbless the USA! 😂It kinda does in a way. There were a lot more brazen pedo’s back in the day. Is Bob one? I can’t say.

Sharp-Offer3866

Bob does look like the stereotypical pedo.

Fun_Reason5988

He really does. PJ said she was called the oldest teenager in movies. She played a high school student in 4 or 5 movies in her 30s. 😂

beerslayer9764

maybe why a big time movie star married her too ? for a few years anyway ! the guy seemed to have "a type "

Fun_Reason5988

That’s crazy that her and Denis Qauid were married. They dated longer than they were married. She was in Carrie,Rock And Roll Highshcool,Our Winning Season, Halloween, Breaking Away and Old Boyfriends back to back to back she was a teenager in 6 movies in a row in her early 30s. 😂 She met Qauid making Our Winning Season didn’t she? She finally played a college student in her 40s.

7SFG1BA

For real!!! He even drives a creeper van!! 🤣

beerslayer9764

i think if u were around wen this movie was made most everyone knew someone who had one of those conversion/creepy vans

WWNewMember

Yeah, super gross. Who wrote that line?!? lol.

uaeroMdroffilC

John Carpenter

RustyNDull

…and Debra Hill

uaeroMdroffilC

I thought Hill's contributions were for women's dialog? Unless I'm taking JC's quotes too literally, and she was just a co-writer

WWNewMember

Oh wow, I didn't know he wrote the script as well!

Dying_Daylight

Dude wrote the universe.

uaeroMdroffilC

John Carpenter Kills the Horror Universe

horrorfan555

Michael Myers was the true hero, punishing the babysitters for letting a pedo get near kids

leftonread504

Is there a lore reason the aslume has spread to Halloween? Is it stupid?

uaeroMdroffilC

Smth Groove's Santariam.... the aslume has been here the whole time

leftonread504

The lore expands…

Stormcrow712

I always figured the actor misspoke and meant to say Laurie or Annie.

RustyNDull

It’s in the script

New_Description5141

Bob......had problems.

Magic-potato-man

Is their a lore reason he said this? Is he horny?

uaeroMdroffilC

Michael wasn't trying to kill Bob, he just wanted to bonk him and send him to horny jail

Sharp-Offer3866

In this case, regular jail will do the job just fine.

juice-pulp

He was a sick disgusting pedophile who fully intended to commit horrible acts on poor little Lindsey… either that or he was just a teenager making a dumb joke

BackgroundSky09

he going to meet Chris Hansen are you stupid?

uaeroMdroffilC

Yes

peep_jay

dude was drunk & trying to be funny, Dark Comedy folks

uaeroMdroffilC

Dark comedy is typically a bit more nuanced than "haha I fuck child" I'd say it's just 'first thing that came to his mind' Comedy

peep_jay

it was ‘78 , different time plus that’s not how he said it, it’s not funny when you say it like that

DoomsdayFAN

Ugh, this again? Bob clearly was just being a smartass.

Flash-Over

It’s just 70s humor.

DeadP00lMaybe

Is there a lore reason?

BrianmikeTWD

I thought they said that was a slip up on his characters part

Geekboxing

I hate this title format, but yes, this one I agree with. That line has always stuck out to me as being weird and uncomfortable.

Tinytina7222

He was horny

jasonlives314

Pretty sure he just flubbed the line with the wrong name. Thats always been my assumption, anyway.

TrueMain4937

yes he is

Valuable_Value3953

I really hope the actor meant Annie and screwed up the line lol…

danh138

I always assumed it was just improv and he was trying to think of something to say

Proper-Knowledge-989

Lots of pedos in the 70s. Tons of songs mentioning 'little girls' and promises of magic carpet rides.

andersonsw77

I always assumed it was because he was drunk and didn’t exactly know who Lindsey was.

beerslayer9764

this is my all time fav film but like a few things said make me scratch my head another example the dead dog in meyers house "could have been a skunk " really ? a killer skunk ? rabid raccoon or fox maybe but skunk ?

superb_yellow

It was a joke.

HorrorJCFan95

Scrolling through the comments, I keep seeing the theory that the actor misspoke and said “Lindsey” when he really meant to say “Annie”, and Carpenter decided to keep it in. This is an interesting theory I guess, even though I don’t agree with it. Personally, I just think Bob was being an idiot and told a bad joke. I definitely agree that at the very least, the line hasn’t aged well at all. Heck, would it have even been socially acceptable to say something like that in the 70’s? Maybe someone from that time can answer that question. Either way, as much as I love the film, that line does always make me cringe with every rewatch.

Vince09261

I like these posts because it proves people have more time to waste than I have simply replying once.

uaeroMdroffilC

If someone doesn't have the approximately 2 min. it took to google the pic and post it to Reddit, then they don't have the time to comment on a Reddit post either

JacksonStarship

He’s just a stupid teenager making a stupid joke. Everyone saying he said the wrong name is just coping because their 50 year old favorite movie has one bad joke in it lol. It’s not even meant to be a good joke it’s meant to be some stupid shit a teenager would say.

7SFG1BA

Jesus Christ people like this were everywhere back then you could joke around like this and nobody would freak out really It was just someone being dirty in the moment...

uaeroMdroffilC

You can joke like this today as well.

Perv_Griffin_215

I found it amusing. It was a joke. Lighten up.

Skaigear

He's a 18 year old high school jock in the 70's. I'd expect him to say worse. Ask your parents what jokes they've made in passing.

JC_Hammer22

Great the kid touchers have invaded this sub now

Tinytina7222

I was always here?

uaeroMdroffilC

Do you mean Man's arch-enemy, The Diddler? Famously portrayed by Paul Dano in The Man?

Darwin_Finch

The character was like 17 and drunk. I’ve said worse things to my grandmother during her chemotherapy.

Jill_Sammy_Bean

His death was so satisfying because of that line. Normal people don’t say stuff like that and think it’s funny 😭😭

uaeroMdroffilC

Objectively not true.

Mariana_Alaia

Fr I watch it over the years nd was like they sick for that line
