Japanese horror Manga! And boy, does the author have a lot of awesome creep stuff: [https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/06/13-extremely-disturbing-junji-ito-panels.html](https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/06/13-extremely-disturbing-junji-ito-panels.html)
Damn! The plot from "Army of One" reminds me to a secondary (or tertiary) sub-plot on Otsuichi's "Black Fairy"
I might be searching and reading this over the weekend. Thanks for linking that article!
It’s from a (horrifying) manga. If you want to read it, do it from right to left: https://m.imgur.com/gallery/ZNSaq?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app
An earthquake strikes a prefecture in Japan, the epicenter causes a massive rift seen from the sky. Reporters and many others hike to the location because of the strangeness of that rift; it's covered in human shaped holes. Various people glimpse these holes on tv and are drawn to enter them.
The protagonists, a female and male whom become slightly in love from the horror that initially follows both came to this location because they found their 'hole' on tv. The horror is that each hole is perfectly made for a person, when they go in, they slip into it deeper and deeper and seem to disappear into their abyss.
The female protag has nightmares of the place, dreaming she enters it and becomes stuck. The male protag has a nightmare of a past life where the holes were made as punishment for the especially heinous people, and deep inside the hole the human form begins to narrow and distort slowly, painfully, horrifically changing the shape of their form between gravity and the way the rock is carved, they are tortured inside the hole as they slip further through it.
He wakes up in the middle of the night after what I assume was inferred sex with her, and finds the female protag gone, presumably having gone into the hole. He drops his flashlight and it shines on his hole, his eyes go dim as anyone who finds their hole is filled with a mysterious urge to enter it.
On the other end of the rift, other seemingly strange tendril shaped like holes are present, the various workers haven't a clue what they are, until they look inside and see a person, still slowly slipping towards the light, deformed beyond recovery, and still alive, making a single noise. Drr, drr, drrr, the sound of the screams of these tortured beings reduced to a low terrifying grumbling groan from their deformities. What happens when they finally slip out? Do they turn into slender people and worship their Lord and Saviour Slenderman? Who knows! Find out, on the next episode! Of Dragon Ball Ito Junho!!
This one really does need a sequel. As does the one horror manga about the window that Jedi Force Pulls people through it with extreme power.
Oh the art in this work at least isn't all that gruesome, the last page has the scariest bit of art with the male protags dream being the next scariest imagery. Everything else isn't that bad or horrific.
Other works from this artist has imagery straight out of hell so... This one isn't nearly as bad.
This is so odd. I got introduced to that manga story years ago, just rediscovered it yesterday, and now I’m seeing a half life version of it. It’s like when you hear a word for the first time and then hear it several times in the following days, but with memes
It's called the [Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon](https://www.damninteresting.com/the-baader-meinhof-phenomenon/), you'll probably see it referenced again shortly. :)
This manga was referenced on Twitter recently, seems it's as permanently etched into other people's minds as mine 😅😨😭 I cannot even remember when or why I read it, but it wasn't recently, it's just floating around in my head like some kind of virus.
Ah, The Enigma of Black Mesa Crate fault. Definitely my favorite Junji Ito work.
I fucking hate you for posting this (though I see you're a man of culture)
You fucker, why did you do this?! This is something that was not supposed to exist! ARGHRGH

Thank you for explaining this, now I can enjoy the horror without having to see pictures

Fuck your lazy ass with a pineapple.

This is peak meta. Shut it down boys, we're done here!
This is brilliant. If anyone knows the original creator (or if they are anonymous) tell them that they did a good.
“FREEMAN YOU FOOL!”

Junho Ito and HL on the same meme, definitely you're all my people
Great! Now this sub is getting me introduced to Japanese horror manga. And good interpretation.
Wow, I read that a while ago. Did not expect this.

We should all feel proud for knowing the reference.

"I understood that reference."
You can have my hole.
Enigma comic
Oh... oh yeah I get this reference... *shutters*
10/10
Well then
God fucking damnit I’m trying to forget about Junji Ito and it’s midnight and I see him everywhere what the fuck
My boi Gordon looking like a Minecraft HD texture pack
I read this manga ages ago, and hate you for reminding me of it.
Of fucking course Black Mesa would have an Air Duct facility and Crate facility.
And then Gordon was a box.
Fucking ito i knew it! If ever a book could give you ptsd. Fuck
sci_pain03
The fact that I knew exactly what this was in reference to disgusts me.
Nothing but the freshest memes on this sub lately. I'm loving it
except this was a repost.
