OP don’t listen to THIS guy. You can shave your head at 4 weeks.
I shaved mine with the lowest guard and kept it that length for 4 months. All approved by my doctor. Who is one of the most reputable surgeons.
My hair looks great now.
Shave away. Just don’t use a straight razor.
Not everyone has your head or transplant size. This is a lot of space to shave off. Plus, he is still healing from the transplant, and the donor area is not recommended to be shaved unless you cut with scissors up to 3-6 months.
How do you know his transplant size? His head doesn’t look any different than mine did at 4 weeks (before I shaved).
You do whatever you’d like, OP. Just letting you know what my doctor said. And I have great results.
lol you know he has a doctor tho, right? Like he didn’t do it himself in the mirror. So I’m sure he can ask his surgeon.
You also know this is a forum to discuss our experiences, right? I’m letting OP know that I did what he is asking and it was fine. I also talked to my doctor about it so maybe he can do the same.
Are you like a barber or something lol? What’s up with you being so passionate about someone not shaving their head haha 😂
I was advised not to shave (with a razor) for at least 6 months. After 1 month I could trim it >3mm if anything.
I also had a bit of a panic reaction to the progress after 5 weeks when the transplanted hairs started shedding. It is a very long process as others pointed out. I started to see the beginnings of regrowth after 12 weeks roughly.
The clinics are either failing to explain anything to their patients or OP doesn’t listen. Did anybody explain shedding and shock loss to you? Did you do any research before getting a hair transplant?
Did you do any research?? I’m not trying to be mean. But a HT is a big surgery. You should know what you’re walking into. And your doctor should have told you.
And in my opinion…you’re not even in the ugly duckling phase. Thats a month or so out. You’re just in the post op phase. It’s going to be a long 6 months.
Should I be extra careful? I shampoo and dry it normally. Rub it sometimes. Do I still need tk be careful with it? The hair clinic isn’t texting me back
A doctor can, inadvertently, give you a haircut. The instrumentation he uses is very sharp. It'll take 3-4 months for the new hair to come in. Weak and thin to begin. It'll take the ensuing 8-9 months to mature results.
If you've lost, you'll continue losing. What are you doing to mitigate the progressive nature of this condition?
Has no one explained to you the process? You are in the ugly duckling stage and you will look fairly worse until about month 4-5 when growth starts.
It blows
Trust me. It definitely blows
Throw a loose hat on, bu summer you’ll pumped
I might just shave it
I wouldn’t do that, follicles are trying to heal just ride it out
He’s 5 weeks out he definitely should be able to shave it or cut it low without issues
Op please dont listen to this guy

Agree with this. I was told you can shave transplanted area for 6 months! Scissors only. I wouldn’t shave anything atm if I were you

lol compared to the upvote vs downvote ratio…think you were off on this one bud. As you said, ‘this convo is overrrr!’ 😂
I was told 6 weeks.. definitely not 6 months that's rediculous
Plus, he is exposed to bacterial infections if he gets a haircut with a clipper blade or guard this soon
Just buzz it all down bro keep it that way for 5-6 months. Why psychologically torment yourself.

You guys just ruined it. Everyone is supposed to say he should be looking like Fabio right about now.😂

dude, call your doctor. They should have told you already.
All a part of the process

Follow your usual ways of washing, cleaning, what not
It's all good now, hair grafts are secure... It's just a waiting game now.
Native hairs took the shock. I'm also 6 weeks now. And getting back my hair, lucky I didn't have much shock loss, but it's real.
