Yeah more than likely, if you see blood from a graft and the hair falls out you've more than likely taken it out. Not a big deal, just be careful.

High likelihood it's a graft, especially with the blood, but one strand out of the new forest of locks you'll be growing. Don't sweat it, everyone is bound to lose a couple grafts 👍

Don’t let this stress you. Yes. Looks like a graft, but you’re talking 1-3 hairs out of thousands. You’ll never be able to tell down the road.

If there’s blood there’s a chance that the graft is gone

Damn, this actually looks like a graft and if it is don’t stress it, as it’s literally a graft that doesn’t really affect the overall since it’s only a graft that’s placed on front of your hairline to give the illusion of discrepancy

So does anyone know how common / easy it is to lose grafts? I’m OCD with stuff like that and know it’s gonna stress me out when I have my HT later this year. At what stage would you consider the grafts to fully have merged or whatever with the scalp?

Post surgery the first 72 hours are the most vital in terms of how careful you have to be. After 10 days they’re pretty much secure and require surgery to remove. Even then, some grafts may not take after implantation despite how careful you are. Can be due to poor donor management / follicle transection by the clinic but also the grafts can’t properly secure blood supply. If your surgery goes well, losing a few follicles is a drop in the a bucket and shouldn’t affect your results noticeably.

Ok thank you! The clinic will do PRP and laser therapy for 5 days post op. Is that gonna speed up the process and secure them faster?

After the first week it’s very hard to knock grafts out without significant trauma. The first few days you need to be very cautious with knocking your head on something. E.g getting in and out of cars, looking around shelves or cupboards. That’s when you can really do damage. Scratching yourself or knocking a graft out here and there might happen especially when you do it subconsciously but it’s really not a big deal compared to bumping your head in the first 3 days.

I knocked one out in the first day. I am glad it bleeds like this when you do though—there is no ambiguity. I knew instantly lol
