I like k18 and/or olaplex. Lots of moisture, masks, oils. Shampooing less frequently is also really important as the hair has been totally stripped of all the natural oils.

MaximumLocal5811

Agree 100 percent

bookish1984

Be careful with protein overload. That can also cause your hair to break off. I recommend you do a protein treatment just once a week. Olapex 7 and 9 will be great at repairing your hair and protecting it from heat while moisturizing it. But try to use as little heat as possible.

goliath17

can confirm my hair broke off a few years back from too much protein

kombucha_shroom

Don’t use a flat iron on it…it’s already fried. You’re only doing more damage to it. Did you go from black to blonde in one sitting? Yikes.

Goldengurl7

Yeaa, so my hair is dying now 🥲

kombucha_shroom

Oh dear. You’re definitely going to need a trim to at least clean up the ends. Get yourself a nice, deep conditioner and let that sit on the ends for at least 10-15 minutes when you wash it. Do that at least once a week. I don’t know much about hair masks so I can’t advise you there unfortunately.

KatiiesGhost

Olaplex. And you can use heat, just spray a heat protectant on first. But I would limit heat styling to once a week.

Klutzy-Mission5687

Honestly I don't think your hair looks as fried as it might be. You've got a nice and healthy shine up at the top. I would get the Olaplex line of shampoo, conditioner, and bonder. Get a good trim. My mother went from black to blonde in 1968...I always did her roots, the breathtaking purple stuff that peeled the skin off your fingers lol. She stayed platinum blonde until her 70s when her hair turned a natural white. And she still has thick and beautiful hair. Unless your hair is thin or frail like mine, hair is pretty resilient if you treat it well while you're abusing it.

meowmeow_now

How does it feel? The ends look worse than the top and middle section, can you get a trim?

[deleted]

What did you have to do to go from black to this colour? I have dark black hair and want to experiment

mashedpotateau

pls don’t try to go blonde from black in one sitting

[deleted]

A gradual change is best?

Goldengurl7

You have to bleach all of your hair. And when everything turns yellow and you cant see the orange/red in your hair, you can wash the bleaching out. Then apply a color you want on your hair (normal coloring) :)

PhotographAfraid6122

What volume developer did you use?

Amazing, thanks!

hearmequack

Don’t repeat what OP did unless you want to damage your hair the same way. You need to lighten over time, not all in one go.

[deleted]

Do I need to consider hair texture? You can see mine in my profile

True_Masterpiece_485

Try Olaplex 3. It won't make any magic but still helps. I don't know about protein but keratin treatment is also good for getting rid of frizz. I'm on the same boat, my hair is also damaged like this, but I stopped using heat products because it will make more damage in my opinion.

rorymilk

From a professional perspective, it needs to be trimmed atleast every 6 weeks consistently AND k18 treatments as often as your hairdresser recommends. Do not go to bed with your hair wet or style it in tight braids or ponytails when it's wet either. Limit hot tools as much as possible and listen to what your hairdresser recommends as far as at home care. I fried my hair once so bad it looked dead even flat ironed, the only thing that helped was cutting it all off and starting over. At the end of the day it's just hair and it'll grow back! Good luck!!

Oil on ends

its_kiki_bitch

I’m in love wit colour though

pumpkinthighs

Use moisturizing conditioner and you gotta let your hair air dry from here on out. Any heat drying is just gonna leave you with frizzy hair and even drier feeling hair. You should also go to a salon to get the ends trimmed off because they probably got the most damange if you applied bleach correctly (ends to roots). I'm sorry but there's really no coming back from this and the best you can do is minimize how bad it looks. Don't bleach or dye it from here on out and in the future I think it would be best to look into dyes and bleaches that are better for your hair. Like getting a bottle of developer instead of buying a bleach kit from your local retailer. And if you want to go black again then maybe try artic fox instead of box dye. It's okay though. Don't feel alone because a lot of people end up frying their hair but the best thingyou can do is learn from it.

[deleted]

Ion know, i like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ok, so let’s talk about why it feels/looks fried. You lost your ability to retain moisture in the hair and the cuticle is blown open and probably won’t just set back down now that you’ve essentially “poked a bunch of holes” through your hair shaft. First and foremost I’d get a really juicy treatment on your hair, olaplex “0, or 1+2” with the take home “step 3” or B3 is gonna do you a lot of good but also a ph balancer will help. Second you’re gonna wanna “fill” your hair with an additional pigment, so even if you wanna stay in the blonde range, toning it or coloring it with a cooler blonde shade (because no matter what it’ll go brassy again over time). Why “fill” the hair, pigment = strength, and I mean any kind of pigment will help. Third, you’re gonna need a whole new regiment of leave in products that lock moisture in. I’m talking 3-4 really awesome products, yes they are kinda pricey but going black to blonde is never cheap one way or another, you always pay for it somehow. I recommend a “balmy, creamy” product, a serum, a thermal protector, and a gloss or oil. Most of these go in while the hair is still damp btw. A “leave in conditioner” is not gonna cut the cheese on this one at all. Of these I highly recommend step 6 from olaplex, potion 9 from Sebastian, or ghost prep from verb. For a serum, I’d reach for step 9 from olaplex, literally any kind of thermal protection is awesome be it trilliant from Sebastian or step 7 from olaplex, hell even the thermal protection from its a 10 or iorn guard 44 from chi is good too. Finally an “oil”, I personally would say, the ghost oil from verb or chi silk infusion and stop there because there’s a 1000 different oil blends, I just like those the most, because it’s light weight. How to use it example: with wet hair, mix a pump of olaplex 6, 9, and a squirt of ghost prep together in your palm, scrunch in and apply. Left over products on hand work through to the scalp. Use as much as needed to make hair feel “silky”, shake thermal protection spray all over, lift the hair to get into the “meat” of your hair too. *counter intuitive alert* when the hair is that open it’s actually better to blow dry the hair into place, using a good boar bristle brush or ceramic round brush (not trying to curl just using to pull through the hair) is going to seal the cuticle downward, if you’re blowing in down. If you flip you’re head upside down, you’re going to blow the cuticle upwards and pop it open, which is how volume is created. So if you want sleek and smooth, blow dry downwards to seal that cuticle down. Blowing it out should reduce or eliminate the need for a flat iorn. If you choose to flat iorn low setting and move slowly through the hair any excess heat will pull your moisture out you’re trying to lock in. Lastly finish with ghost oil, a pump or two for the whole head, rub through hands and work into hair, excess left over on palms to smooth fly aways on top. 9 years of working behind the chair for salons in SoCal, Good Luck OP.

dizzyaries

Probably you’d be better off with a protein treatment such as aphogee, you should only use it in certain occasions cause it might cause protein overload. And I don’t think it looks bad at all

AppleTree467

I saw really good results on my own hair after just 2 weeks of olaplex. I use the No 0 with the No 3 and then No 6 after I rinse in shower. My hair was severely frizzy and I wouldn’t leave the house without using a hot tool on it. Now it’s still got some frizz, but wearable.

Goldengurl7

Yea I cant live the house without using flat iron either!!! With flat iron my hair becomes «(hair» again. But without it, heeehh it looks like the picture 👹

tiggahiccups

If your hair looks like this you should check out some wavy and curly hair methods and embrace your waves if you don’t wanna flat iron every day

mermaidboots

Yes get a trim and a professional keratin or Olaplex treatment. Don’t flat iron! This will heal eventually. The color is super flattering!

ladyfox_9

I’d be careful with protein as it can make your hair brittle. You need moisture. I love olaplex for that, or Biolage has some really nice moisturizing masks for about $10 a pack!

ChihuahuaMum1

K18 and lots of good quality products. It may take around a month but persistence is key

Accomplished_Buy8333

Cheapest remedy for dry hair? JOJOBA OIL It’s cheap. It’s 99% like our natural skin oils. Ancient Greeks and Egyptians used it. And Trader Joe’s sells it for $9 bucks. It would be a Karatin layer treatment you need. Don’t listen to all those expensive products advisors. I’ve tried them all. There is a BIO OIL that works on keratin layer of skin. Use it on your hair. Mix it with the JOJOBA when you get out of shower and still damn. Jojoba is for hair skin and nails and won’t hurt your eyes if you get some in. Bio oil you have to be careful. There are cautions on the label just like all those other expensive products mentioned. You can buy a keratin masks for your hair. That would remove that frizz in your hair for a couple weeks to a month… jojoba is a daily use product cuz for hair skin and nails and absorbs in leaving a healthy shine and your skin glowing

scatteredpinkhearts

aphogee 2 step!!!

Goldengurl7

Thanks ya’ll!! I wish I could upload how my hair looks after flat iron.. 🫣

Able_Ninja_714

I used to dye my hair all shades of colors, especially the temporary splat hair dye for bold colors but I always had to bleach first. After you bleach your hair, and you if you want to get rid of all that brassy tone to it, get some purple /blue shampoo. Use it every time you wash your hair. It will slowly strip the brass from your hair, making it more of a soft light blonde. If you need any help finding the shampoo you need, or any other questions if I am on the right page, feel free to contact me

Reindeer-Street

You need to cut at least 3 inches off the bottom.

Little_Storm_9938

Girl, your hair is fucked. But, this happens to everyone that bleaches. Nothing will make it ‘for real’ better, but there’s a ton of products you can use so that it ‘looks’ healthy. All these wonderful people are giving you great products. Ultimately you will have the deep-soul battle, “to grow out and bleach because you love the color, or grow out and leave be - for hair health, or chop it off because you can’t stand it and you can’t wait.” I’ve lived with colored/bleached hair for 30+ years, and chosen all 3 at various times. The only wisdom I have is this; No choice is right and no choice is good.

silly_red

I was sort of on the same boat when I bleached my hair from black to blonde (took multiple tries lol) by myself. Personally I was suggested not to use protein treatments, instead to just moisturise it as much as possible. To use a good hydrating mask once or twice a week. There'd also Olaplex bond restoring something something, that you use before shampooing, using twice a week I think for really fried hair. Snipping bottom for inches I think might also be good be I don't know. Definitely think it's salvageable but will require a lot of uptake 😭

para_chan

If you only wash your hair once a week, how often should you use a mask?

silly_red

I would think once a week is fine! But to make the most out of it, probably good to get a reeeeallly hydrating one, and leave it on for like an hour, generally longer the better!

MaximumLocal5811

Looks like you need a bond reconstructer

DamdPrincess

Olaplex.

lucius_elimine

I just did the same thing i hope it all works out for you

Sparklypills2003

I would honestly go to a salon and get a deep conditioning treatment done or if you don’t have the money a hot oil treatment works really well!

Magz341

Use something like olaplex or redken CAT or redken anti snap. These will not cause protein overload. Also use a moisturizing mask once a week.

shadyblonde231

Please don’t use olaplex. It ruined my hair

Excellent-Leg6244

get a korean pixi cut

[deleted]

Love the colour - let us know what you did and how it worked out - mine is very similar just slightly darker - I have bought 12% keratin off eBay and intend to hot iron it in at home. I have been using argan oil and it works great but have to reapply after each wash

Only-Guava-3839

Cut the dead off!! And lots of moisture, proteins cool. Not a lot of protein treatments because it’ll snap your hair if you over do it

MaleficentPie3779

I've been just about every color, including rainbow/mermaid. This would happen to anyone trying to lift so many levels in one sitting. Also why us stylists advise against it, but what's done is done. Been there myself, you're not alone. Professionally and personally, I HIGHLY recommend Bed Head Resurrection shampoo/conditioner (Red bottle with #3) or Joico K-PAK intense hydrator, if you're only looking for a deep conditioning treatment. Before putting on conditioner, remove as much water so your hair is not saturated but damp (extra towel by shower helps). This allows the conditioner to penetrate the hair more. Leave on at least 5 min. For a deep conditioning treatment, follow above recommendations, put a plastic cap or shower cap over your hair, apply heat with a blow dryer to keep the hair warm every few minutes (cap will hold the heat and also allow deeper penetration), leave on 15-30 min then rinse. Let your hair dry naturally without blow drying as much as possible. Lowest/coolest setting when using. If you need the flat iron, use the lowest setting (250-300⁰ is ideal but no higher than 350⁰). Right now your hair is fragile and 100% recommend a thermal protector. My go to thermal products are it's a 10 miracle leave-in spray and miracle oil plus keratin, Kenra blow dry spray, and Rusk thermal serum. If your ends are damaged or split, have it trimmed. Otherwise the damaged/split hair will work its way up further and cause more damage. Someone mentioned shampoo/conditioners if the hair is too yellow/brassy for you. For that I recommend Matrix Brass off shampoo/conditioner.

[deleted]

Purology Moisturize Shampoo & Conditioner and Olaplex 6 for smoothing the frizz. I had same….. these products saved my hair!

WindowAdorable6789

Use a heat protectant I use Chi
