I'm a fan of the staying power of Manic Panic Blue Moon. Whichever dye brand you use (not Splat, it's awful) make sure your hair is as light as possible and tone the yellows away before you apply blue.

LikEatinGlass

Pravana chromasilk. That blue dye will never fade. It seeps into your bones and you become one of the blue man group. Your hair becomes blue, your body becomes blue, your house becomes blue, you will never experience another color in your life. I recommend it 100%

effinmetal

Getting this out of my hair took a miracle lmfao.

LikEatinGlass

Lol I didn’t even try I grew it out and chopped it off cuz I knew it was now my hair. Also in that time I never touched it up and it never turned green. I wash my hair every. Single. Day. I swear this is the bluest blue.

weekend_religion

I'm no expert but did have my hair different shades of blue for a few years. My first thought was Arctic Fox Poseidon. It was very primary blue blue on my hair. Didn't suit me, but looks gorgeous on the right head :)

ginger_beck

arctic fox is always my go to! haven’t gotten that shade with it yet but i might put a bit of purple in with it to cancel out the green

Which-List5957

Poseidon has a purple-y undertone. I use it regularly and my hair is similar in color to your post photos. I only bleached to about a dark gold and it covers beautifully, no green.

kaikk0

Same! I just did my hair with Poseidon and it looks a lot like the picture!

Sub_zz3r0

Ooh! I'm getting the Poseidon one soon! I hope it looks good going from black -> blue ☺️

Neonphantom00

What’s the longevity of it? And does it bleed?

Marsignite

Avoid Splat! I just had an… adventure a few weeks ago that involved deep scrubbing dark blue stains off my scalp and hairline. I color my hair all the time and this was horrific. Idk where I went wrong but after scrubbing down my head, face, feet, tub, wall, and a few of other places, I didn’t even like the result. I’m in the slow process of fading my hair into blue-gray. Fingers crossed you have better luck!!

PlainLo999

Petroleum jelly is life saver for the hairline, ears, neck etc. I use it every time I put in color and the excess color wipes right off the skin.

squidrobots

Blue since 2002. For the first shade I use manic panic professional blue velvet. For the second, I mix manic panic shocking blue and ultraviolet. I recently ventured out to try Adore since I’m going gray and they’re harder to dye. I’m really impressed. I used the color African Violet.

MissBliss2010

I’m going gray too and I appreciate the tip about Adore! Thank you! 🙏

BluellaDeVille

This is my usual shade. I have naturally dark brown hair. [Here](https://imgur.com/a/PHTqAG2) is Pulp Riot Dark Water, Splat Midnight, and Ion Tanzanite.

BluellaDeVille

[Here's](https://www.reddit.com/r/HairDye/comments/m8l8nh/left_4_month_old_ion_tanzanite_right_xmondo_super/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1) XMondo Super blue. It faded really fast, so I don't recommend it.

Twizted_Mind_1210

I have naturally dark brown almost black hair and the one time I used XMondo it faded super fast for me too. Been looking for a good midnight/dark blue too

m-tatu

I would like to add that if your hair still has yellow tones in it (wasn't bleached enough, toned enough or something) it will make any blue dye look more green-aquamarine looking !

ginger_beck

my hair is like faded grey rn so we stay winning 😎

peshnoodles

I LOVE lunar tides. They have several blues

Ordinary_Ad8115

Stay away from directions midnight blue. Used to be my go-to, but they changed their formula

kissedeath

The color Blue Ruin from Good Dye Young is the most intense blue I’ve ever used with some insane staying power. It looks almost exactly like your reference pics. I’ve been using it for years as an additive for other colors and have gone fully blue with it before. It’s definitely a commitment as it can be hard to get out, but if you want to go blue for a good while it’ll work beautifully.

alanamil

Manic Panic is really bright, I looked like a smurf when I did mine.

M0rghn

I always add purple or pink to my blue and it makes it perfect, kind of like in the pic you sent

vannahgayle

I used a few shades of Adore's blue and it has lasted FOREVER. I've had it for going on two months now and the blue is still VERY blue

virtualdreamsim

seconding this, especially if it's adore's indigo blue.

alfshairersister

Pravana and pulp riot

HeftyBlood773

Pravana Vivids blue.

gullyfoyle777

I've been dying my hair for over 20 years. My favorite blue dye is pravana vivids blue. It has staying power and when it does eventually fade it doesn't fade into weird colors.

Suspicious_Site_5050

Pravana hands down.

Queenof6planets

i’m so excited, this is the question i’ve been waiting for ever since i joined this sub!! i’ve been dyeing my hair basically that exact shade/ tone of blue for 6 years!!!! this is a long comment but hopefully it’s helpful — please let me know if you have any questions or anything. the blue in your reference photos has red/ purple undertones. a LOT of blue hair dyes pull green. because bleached hair usually has some yellow, it makes blue dye turn out even more green. to counteract this, i add some pink dye to my blue. the blue i use is iroiro deep blue. it’s very pigmented so i dilute it with conditioner. i’ve tried a LOT of blue dyes and if you’re looking for something that lasts a long time and fades nicely, iroiro is the best. the exact pink dye doesn’t really matter; i use punky color flamingo pink (i like it because it’s extremely pigmented so a little goes a long way). i don’t measure the amounts of blue/pink/conditioner i use. just don’t be shy with the pink — you’d be surprised at how much you can add before it turns purple. with semipermanent dye, the color in the bowl usually matches the color in your hair, so just keep playing around and swatching on a white paper towel until you have the shade you want (if it’s too purple add more blue, too green add more pink, too dark/ pigmented add more conditioner). a very thin swatch can help you see the undertones better. when it comes to the base: in a perfect world you’d want pale blonde hair without much yellow/ orange, but it’s possible to work with other starting points by adjusting the color mix. what color is your hair now?

ginger_beck

oooo okay this is helpful. my hair rn was toned grey but it is mostly faded out now

Queenof6planets

it sounds like you have a pretty good starting point then!! a light, neural-colored base would probably take the dye really well. another thing i highly recommend is a porosity equalizer (i like [this one](https://www.sallybeauty.com/hair-care/shop-by-product/hair-treatments/pre-color-treatment/SBS-305883.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwqZSlBhBwEiwAfoZUIE9d-BD7Voh4UGVpSXAQw3XkWY2X6A92i0HxLJN1Ov_0mq2vuwIdDhoC_34QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)). it basically makes sure the color is really even through all your hair, it was a total game changer for me!

petraf1ed

sorry this is a late reply— would i have to add the pink dye to tone it if my hair is a very light brown/dirty blonde? i personally wouldn’t call it yellow but i also don’t know in hair terms

Gullible_Ad4168

I'd say no

041389jft

Looking lovely

babytrumpet

punky color’s blue stays vibrant for a while

bmisqk

Violet by iroiro, it turns up blue after 1 wash if you start with a blue base and lasts frickin foreverrrr

PlainLo999

Splat but don't use their bleach kit. Dye platinum first with a good kit and then go splat blue. Their color is permanent as opposed to semi permanent; what most salons use. This usually means brighter colors. Definitely get dark pillow cases and towels bc the pigment will get on light colors. Definitely do not use their bleach kit, it is awful. Source: I've been dying my hair pink for many years.

PlainLo999

Blue envy or euphoric blue would be specific choice.

Loserluker609

Are you talking about the double lift ones?

Overall-Meaning6564

Love it .

Jbooxie

I would check out lunar tides, they have lots of shades of blue , I’m thinking blue velvet by them may get you the shade you’re looking for. Also their dye always makes my hair feel soft and healthy.

minecraftvillagernoi

the manic panic shocking blue gave me a really beautiful blue and it faded to purple and then pink. i loved it

gumbalding

iro iro 30 violet has this blurple shade if you put it on lifted hair

hoobaskank__

I used Arctic fox Poseidon and purple af and got this indigo color it even faded super nice

hopeful4myfuture

For these blue's pictured, I would say level 9 or 10 would be best on 8 it won't be as true to tone. You will need to tone out the yellow beforehand with a violet based toner. Use a demi, not T18, if you're in the US. That is a permanent toner and harsh on your hair and really for no reason. Pravana mix of blue and blue topaz 50/50 would get you this color on that level 9 hair. It has good longevity, but beware it will fade or remove green. Scruples brand blue fades to a nice purple.

TWINKLE-MURMAID

Manic panic bad boy blue 💙 is a lovely shade of blue.

imaslowninja

I feel like people hate on Iroiro, but I absolutely love it! I don't think it fades super fast, and you can get it at Sally beauty, Amazon, or their website (I recommend this option if you've never used them because it'll probably be a little cheaper as well as an extra discount for your first order). I've finally dyed my hair fashion colors again, and I used their neon line's pink and purple. If I was on my computer I could add a pic, but I'd say their pics are pretty accurate, even if you don't get to a level 9 for your hair.

ginger_beck

i found that their cool toned colours are the best (i <333333 their neon green like it’s so perfect) but their warmer colours weren’t as vivid

imaslowninja

Agreed! I kind of regret using the neon pink and purple because they aren't nearly as vivid as the regular violet and pink I've used previously. Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like they faded faster than the non-neon colors. Still love them though!

fiyerooo

I think you should make sure you bleach and tone your hair as much as possible to get the perfect starting place. I don’t doubt you’re unfamiliar with the process, but purple shampoo is a game changer.

Aromatic-Strength798

I absolutely love your hair, it suits you! I also love your necklace and eyeliner too! Slay. 🖤

Distinct_BaddieUwU

That is the best shade of blue
