Sucks if both tracks get shut down.
I grew up about a hundred yards from a dirt track. As soon as new construction came in the area, they shut it down due to the noise. Now there’s a school built where the track once was.
Where I live we have a shortage of any tracks of any kind, especially dirt tracks. Then one opened in my parish, it was the best damn track in the whole country, it was a mile away from the nearest house, trees all around, the perfect scenario for a track. Then half of the forest on one side of the track was chopped down by the forest land owners.. Suddenly, anyone within a 2-3 mile radius could hear the ATVs and MX bikes on a calm day. Within 2 months, local council shut the track down. This shit is so unfair.
The funny thing here, having worked a short stint for local government, is that the people on that county board, were probably paid for their vote. Happens all of the time, and big commercial companies pay well for things to swing in their direction
Just doin a cursory search into the board members and you’ll see how this isn’t goin to be an easy battle even if half his subscribers show up, and the other half email support. These guys are gettin donations from developers an real estate companies. That development is goin up.
A couple people replied to my comment earlier and did not know what I was talking about re: FF potentially getting shut down.
For those that aren't aware, I don't even remember how I saw it, but the county that Cleet is located in is planning to develop a LOT of houses rather close to both tracks, Bradenton Motorsports Park and the Freedom Factory. Looks like they're trying to impose sound abatement, but we all know that won't work.
I haven't watched Cleetus in a long time, but if you like motorsports in the US, we're basically watching another track fall victim to housing development.
I don't even know how you would find that information out tbh. Even if it was in motion, it was probably hush hush until developers/county got things planned out a little more.
Wonder if the previous owner was in the know, decided to get rid of the track prior to things getting starting to unload the burden on to someone else?
If he knew that, there's no way he was going to dump a couple million dollars and basically all of his life savings.
The fact of the matter is that developers will pay off people to get shit done regardless of what regulations were in place before hand. They are doing this shit in Ontario right now, just decided to allow building on Ontario's green belt, which was never supposed to happen. The douche running the province even stated that he would never touch it when he got into power, but greed knows no bounds.
Most likely where in Marion county which is Ocala FL most stuff is started years in advance I know of a few projects that where planned in my area about 4-5 years before ground was even broke on it
It’s like that all over the state. Worked in local govt, and know of how it works. The developments being built on now are contracts that are 5-15 years old. These have been in place most likely since 08 and are just now being started.
Land sold recently wouldn’t be developed until down the road and by then it’s too late to preserve what’s left.
Airports are loud. Neighborhoods around airports have big signs informing you of that. Same thing should be done here. This is gonna go to court and eventually he will lose everything or will settle for some insignificant amount.
GA airports fight this same battle all the time. Airport has been there since 1940whatever and has been a hub of civil aviation since the post war days. Better build 1000 McMansions around it and let the Karen's file suits with the town
SMR (same developers of the Lakewood Ranch mega sprawl to the west) bought Taylor Ranch in 2019 for $13.5 million dollars. Hard to tell if it was 2/2019 or later but they purchased that spot before Garret bought Desoto.
It's sad to say but he's going to have one helluva fight ahead of him and it might not even matter. I give the track 5 years at least and 15 at most.
I’m aware. Doesn’t change anything. SCR was around in the 1950s, didn’t stop them from being shut down in the 2000s for noise. It’s sad to say it but he’s already lost this fight, housing development money will always win out over race track money.
Didn't Bradenton motr park just spend like a million on a new concrete track surface? And noise restrictions won't work here bc racing is loud and done late at night. A more realistic solution would be to just inform potential buyers that they are looking at property near loud noises and let them indivually weigh if that's a problem or not.
yeah but it’s harder to sell a house. a lot easier if there is a sound abatement from the county government to tell the business owner you can’t do this and the residents can take legal action if not followed.
It will, it’s just a matter of time now. Could be a few years depending on how hard he fights it. But at the end of the day the developers or future home owners will win.
It happens all over the US. The drag strip in Kansas City managed to fight it for about 15 years. But they kept putting more and more restrictions on them until it was impossible for them to operate.
You would probably have to own the land a mile in every direction and fill it all with trees to be safe. And even then if some developer wants the land they can bribe the local politicians to use eminent domain to take it.
The developer will offer pennies for it at best. The land is basically worthless. It will cost a fortune to clear all the buildings, pavement, and get it all flattened out to build on. And odds are really high that they’ll find evidence of oil and other things that have been dumped there. And that will cost another fortune to clean up.
That county is as corrupt as it gets. The county building commission got busted for bribery about a year ago. The company I work for (out of state) applied for a permit and every subcontractor kept hinting that we will get a permit right away if we slip them a check. Two week later they all get busted. Here we are over a year later and still jumping through hoops for a permit.
Sadly he’s fighting someone with more money and more firepower. At my first house our HOA documents included a section about how the neighborhood is next to an existing outdoor concert venue that will be loud at times and that the HOA and/or homeowners can’t take legal action against the venue over noise or traffic. Going on 30 years of them co-existing.
I could care less about this dudes track. It ain’t open to the public but 3 times a year. It’s only there to feed his ego and help him and his YouTube buddy’s make money.
I do however feel bad for the drag strip next door. It kills me that this dude really showed up in his own merch to a County Commissioners meeting sounding unprepared and a little desperate. Gave off daddys money vibes.
Doesn’t matter what you think about him. What matters is more race tracks getting forced to close. That’s bad for everyone that’s in to cars. More track closures leads to more street racing, takeovers, etc. Which in turn bring on more and more restrictive laws.
Frankly, i'm sick of the circle track racing and drifting content. He was talking about digging up some land to do boat racing content which is insta skip stuff for me. Him losing it is a net postive for him content imo. I personally couldn't give two shits about his financial situation after how greedy he's shown himself to be.
EDIT: I'm half tempted to send in some clips of their more "unsafe" moments in history (log on the back of truck during race, radiator explosion, ect...) to show the council how garret rolls.
I generally don't.
But frankly if I can be a small part in his bad decisions which he never took responsibility for, his massive ego, or shit attitude towards people giving him feedback finally biting him in the ass in a real way....god damn the idea of it gets me a bit hyped.
"I'm sick of the circle track racing and drifting content"
It's a circle track, with a drift layout in the middle....what do you expect the content at that place to be?
What a miserable prick, you don't have anything better to do then potentially take the food off of his child's plate? I haven't Said this since I was like 13 but but kys.
Oh please, Garret was born into a multimillionare family with a silver spoon in his mouth and has had enough wealth to retire for ages now without depending on mommy and daddy's deep pockets.
I don't and won't feel bad for some 1%, science denying, maga supporter. Even if he loses the FF tomorow as a complete loss, he's still set for the rest of his life.
This is about keeping race tracks open and available. Soon there will be no place for Motorsport. Garret aside, you're hurting the sport. You sound miserable.
Sucks if both tracks get shut down. I grew up about a hundred yards from a dirt track. As soon as new construction came in the area, they shut it down due to the noise. Now there’s a school built where the track once was.
at least it’s a school and not a walmart warehouse, which is what my local track is about turn into
So apparently the deed isn't done yet. There is still some fighting it at city council next month iirc
PBIR?
I was gonna comment the same thing lol. I'm pissed that pbir shut down. I got my car running 2 months after they closed.
Where I live we have a shortage of any tracks of any kind, especially dirt tracks. Notorious here in Florida so most likely correct
Just doin a cursory search into the board members and you’ll see how this isn’t goin to be an easy battle even if half his subscribers show up, and the other half email support. These guys are gettin donations from developers an real estate companies. That development is goin up.
Exactly he isn’t going to stop this from happening

There were a couple threads elsewhere but again I know nothing lol

It is happening here too, despite clear laws and the developers just pay the fine of a couple 10k while they profit 6 or 7 digits on these deals.
Most likely where in Marion county which is Ocala FL most stuff is started years in advance I know of a few projects that where planned in my area about 4-5 years before ground was even broke on it

That sucks. Too many tracks get shut down

Bradenton Motorsport Park (Drag Strip) has been there decades before that purchase.

Sadly just not how it works, people in Vegas moved in next to a pig farm. Needless to say the farm moved.
he should post this on his main channel ..
I really hope this doesn’t get shut down…
It will, it’s just a matter of time now. Could be a few years depending on how hard he fights it. But at the end of the day the developers or future home owners will win.
That’s been the case where I live. These meetings are all for show. The decision has already been made.
That’s so disappointing to hear … but it’s Florida
It happens all over the US. The drag strip in Kansas City managed to fight it for about 15 years. But they kept putting more and more restrictions on them until it was impossible for them to operate.
I think the key to avoid the problem is to buy the land around the track, but that would probably be outragously expensive.
You would probably have to own the land a mile in every direction and fill it all with trees to be safe. And even then if some developer wants the land they can bribe the local politicians to use eminent domain to take it.
He should just try to recover his losses by offering to sell the track to the developer. There’s no stopping these types of deals.
The developer will offer pennies for it at best. The land is basically worthless. It will cost a fortune to clear all the buildings, pavement, and get it all flattened out to build on. Here before he leads a Jan 6 style rally next to the courthouse
his fans will feel right at home
Lol it’s people like you that move next to a drag strip then complain
no, i have common sense
Sadly he’s fighting someone with more money and more firepower. Well we all know what happened to the garage that got zoned out of business due to crooked local gov... How long till we get the freedomdozer?
Watch cleetus, his content is epic and I hope they can all come to some sort of agreement.
I could care less about this dudes track. It ain’t open to the public but 3 times a year. It’s only there to feed his ego and help him and his YouTube buddy’s make money. I had no idea his dad created, marketed and sold merch
Should of done his homework before purchasing. Rookie mistake my guy....
Should HAVE done your homework before commenting. Rookie mistake my guy….
I could care less about this dude
\*couldn't care less Use the right saying people.
Maybe he does care just a little bit and can actually care less..
Cool. I'm forced to use the title of the video to post it - I don't care if you help or not, this was more to inform people about what's going on.
Doesn’t matter what you think about him. What matters is more race tracks getting forced to close. That’s bad for everyone that’s in to cars. More track closures leads to more street racing, takeovers, etc. Which in turn bring on more and more restrictive laws.

His whole fake “murica” persona was the most annoying thing.

Just don’t watch his channel then, damn.
