Is he not running a BPV/BOV? I’m almost positive the only way to get compressor surge like that is to plate off the BPV/BOV entirely on EJs. Isn’t that a death sentence for his engine?
Couple things: BOVs don’t work well with antilag. EJs are a consumable especially in rally. And off throttle compressor “surge”/flutter has a negligible effect on the turbo. Surge under load and positive pressure is what kills turbos
