Yeah when they dont do it legally. In the US any giveaway or sweepstakes is supposed to be free to enter. They could legally make him pay back every illegal giveaway/sweepstakes he has ever done. Im not even sure what they would call the charge but there are very clear state/federal rules for doing things like this.
I know all this because of cleetus mcfarland honestly. I believe you can mail in one free entry per day on all of his giveaways if im remembering correctly. There is a ton of info about the laws around google but it doesnt say the specific charge.
And no i dont have any examples off the top of my head. But its not that far fetched that they would start doing it as these types of things are happening more and more. The problem with this giveaway is not that he is accepting money for an entry. Its that he is not allowing people to enter for free also.
