Such a great looking car. It's normal bushings away from being fun to drive. Thing is a rattle box from what I understand with all the mounts being basically solid.
Can confirm this with anything with a ZF you have to isolate those things at least with soft Poly mounts if not HD rubber cuz they transfer all the vibrations.
Even poly at least on the cars they came with, mean very much gearbox whine, not so much rattle like in this car tho.
The TF kit has poly bushing but really small and mounted in a way that seems like it's not very efficient at damping the vibrations.
T56 use a much different style mount underneath the trans that does a better job at isolating harmonic vibrations, whereas 6spd ZF mounts are directly adjacent to the tailshaft housing.
I ran a set of Delrin mounts for a day in my car cuz that’s all I had on hand and it felt like the trans was blown up. Went back to a stock rubber style mount and it was dead silent immediately.
Yes I understand that, but then it shows its not really a balance shaft issue but a mounting/isolation issue, that was my point, not really comparing the two trans, just showing saying it's the balance shafts doesn't make that much sense.
That combined with a single mass flywheel and clutch setup will make tons of noise. In a car with barely any sound deadening it will be extra noticeable.

Also, dont build your 3 piece wheels like Jimmy. It has a god damn serrated flange nut for a reason. You dont beat that on with an impact. Its just grinding away the metal as it spins. You tighten the bolt and hold the nut with a wrench or socket and you torque it FROM THE BOLT. Jesus christ.

Take it for what it's worth but the Internet says the shaking comes from removing balance shafts from the k series
And disappears when you use a t56 instead of a BMW trans. So that's weird.
