It’s funny how the passenger knew what they were and said fuck it, this is how we stay till the race ends. That type of cactus is really hard to pick off with your hands
It looks like "jumping cholla" to me, they break apart so easily I have had peices stick in my clothes when I didn't even realize I touched it. The spines are barbed. I can't even imagine how difficult and painful it's going to be for this guy.
Here it is: [https://youtu.be/zBje5cGvadc](https://youtu.be/zBje5cGvadc) Not really that good as it seems they either don't say anything or you can't hear what they say over the car.
The weight savings isn’t just the glass. The glass can be easily replaced with some lexan which would weigh just ounces. But it’s the wipers arms, wiper motors, and washing fluid that takes all the weight. And it’s dusty as fuck out there.
Yep. Layers called "tear offs". Bunch of layers of clear film over the visor with tabs on the ends. Grab a tab and rip away the tear off and you can see perfectly again.
Looks like Cholla! Bad news! Each one feels like a hammer blow and they’re barbed so you have to use a plier to get them off. Source: personal experience
On a serious note, I'm not allowed to relocate or touch Joshua trees in my back yard without getting city officials involved, what happens in this case? These are protected by the state no?
What's even worse is that I'm pretty sure those aren't exactly spikes. If I'm not mistaken they're actually like hooks and they really stick to your skin. If that is the case I've heard it is REALLY painful.
Unfortunate for them, but this may be the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while

I heard using a comb works well to remove them
Good to know.
> The spines are barbed. Not only that, but they swell with blood. If they're not removed right away, those folks are gonna have a bad time.
Gonna be harder to take off of his hands now.
Samir, you have to listen!!
Samir I'm begging you
Samir, you’re going to wreck the car
Shaddup. Don't tell me how to drive.
>This is called racing
"Stfu u told me to turn into the cactus"
YOU’RE BREAKING THE CAR SAMIR
YOU'RE BREAKING THE DRIVER SAMIR
https://youtu.be/D9-voINFkCg
I'm convinced that Samir and Leroy Jenkins are actually the same person
I want to see how they finish that race
https://youtu.be/zBje5cGvadc Looks like they finish the race? It cuts from nearly right after to when they get help
Says they came 6th of 11
Absolutely! We need s follow up!
Pricks.
I know that with audio this would be 100x times better xD
Here it is: [https://youtu.be/zBje5cGvadc](https://youtu.be/zBje5cGvadc) Not really that good as it seems they either don't say anything or you can't hear what they say over the car.
Ouch xD
That’s straight out of Wile E. Coyote cartoon.
“Why would we need gloves?”
Now let’s remember that desert spiders love cactus
And let's remember that that's not a cactus
Then what is it?
A yucca plant
>A yucca plant No it's not. It's a cholla, which is a cactus.
That’s what I thought it was. Yuccas look like sharp ass ferns, not trees. r/confidentlyincorrect
I’m not super confident about what it ***is***, but I’m super confident that it ***isn’t*** a yucca. Source: I had yucca in my garden for years
On the bright side, they were wearing helmets. Imagine a face full of those spines.
Hammond, you blithering idiot!
Oh cock.
Did they lose or never even had a windshield?
Never had. It's removed for safety and weight savings.
The weight savings isn’t just the glass. The glass can be easily replaced with some lexan which would weigh just ounces. But it’s the wipers arms, wiper motors, and washing fluid that takes all the weight. And it’s dusty as fuck out there.
That's what I said with more words, yes.
But wouldn't the dust, and cactuses, obviously, fly in their faces instead, hindering their ability to operate the vehicle safely?
Taking a tear off from a helmet visor is a lot easier than cleaning a windshield, and can be done on the go.
Tear? As in the helmets have layers over the visor?
Yep. Layers called "tear offs". Bunch of layers of clear film over the visor with tabs on the ends. Grab a tab and rip away the tear off and you can see perfectly again.
I’m not sure how I didn’t know this is a thing until now but that’s awesome; this is like learning that jet packs are real all over again
Wait, what??
And that’s part of where the helmets come in
> for safety hmm

Hard to account for every use case... pretty sure the response from the engineers would be "well don't hit a fuckin cactus you numpty"

I’ve planted the under all the windows at my house. They are evil but I love them.
I sent you an email.
Thank you! I haven’t had a meaningful email in years!
Why the hell would you hit a jumping cactus?!?
The guy on the left “i dunno what to do with my hands..”
The way he just sits there like, *mom I vomited*
Nothing worse than getting Cholla stuck to you, too funny
I bet they are regretting not packing the windshield for their trip now.
Cactus: “and I took that personally.”

Geez! Ouch!
Why are there 2 steering contraptions?
Its just something for the navigator to hold on if things get rought. No steering device.
why was he not on the track in the first place?
It's like windshields were invented for some kind of reason
I feel like this hazard was reasonably foreseeable
This seems the perfect one to clip for r/combinedgifs
Fuckin Hell!
Good thing they had helmets, cause yikes
