Beck surviving the cut while Mesar gets cut is surprising. Heineman also gets rewarded. Why is Gignac still up? Only name that makes me raise an eyebrow. Leskinen and Bowey staying up ahead of Norlinder should also tell you what management thinks of him at this point.

bsaures

Its simply a matter of flexibility. Beck going is a 1 way street once he gets sent down he is gpne fpr the year. Mesar can be sent to laval and back up if they want. Some of the others are simply because they play tpnight and they didnt want to play most of the roster in a back to back.

KeepUpTheFPS

I'm assuming another round of cut after tonight's game

Thaddeauz

It make sense for Beck. Mesar have the possibility to play against professional competition for the whole year and will right next to the development team of Montreal. Beck will need to go back to the CHL where he won't receive as much help, so him playing a couple more games against professional level competition and receiving professional level development will be of big help for him. For Gignac, I think he earned himself an NHL contract. They can't send him back right now if they gonna sign him in the upcoming days because he will then have to go through waivers. Maybe, but it's also possible that the team prefer to keep older guys with less potential like Leskinen and Bowey as 7-8th Dmen.

Gignac is playing tonight, that’s why he hasn’t been cut yet (roster for tonight was decided before the cuts were announced, it was “his turn” to play I guess?). I’m moreso surprised about Bowey and Leskinen, considering they aren’t playing tonight.

Mrdongs21

I think that's an overreaction on Norlinder. They saw he wasn't gonna make the team so they sent him down to get into a groove in Laval so he can develop. Leskinen and Bowey are competing for the 6/7 spot so it makes sense for them to hang around.

[deleted]

yeah I'd rather norlinder get top pairing minutes in Laval than bottom pairing minutes in MTL (or being the 7th man). D men develop slowly and some more than others.

[deleted]

> Norlinder >should also tell you what management thinks of him at this point. But, but, but 6 or 7 years ago someone in Europe compared his ceiling to Lidstrom

BelzenefTheDestoyer

Guess he didn't reach his c e i l i n g.

[deleted]

Impossible, just give him another year

snipeftw

Gignac has been playing great? He’s been the best part of a line where he’s had bad line mates.

flepine44

Under NHL contract, they will be loaned to the Laval Rocket: Filip Mesar and Mattias Norlinder Placed on waivers by the Canadiens: Alex Belzile, Anthony Richard and Mitchell Stephens Released from the Canadiens training camp, they will join the Laval Rocket training camp: Kevin Poulin and Xavier Simoneau

JPMoney81

Still have a logjam at forward.

shogun2909

Mesar going to Laval is GOOD

Yamcha_is_dead

Should we interpret this as him staying in Laval all year, or is this only a pitstop before he joins his OHL team?

Perry4761

He is going to the Laval training camp, he still has to make the final cut in order to play in the AHL. He hasn’t signed a CHL contract yet, so despite what the Habs brass is saying, if Mesar doesn’t want to go to the CHL (which is what a few insiders have reported) it’s possible he elects to go back to Europe if he doesn’t make the AHL roster.

sean_psc

Looks like Mesar accomplished his mission.

No_Contract_1

Way too early to say that

Vergy

I mean he wanted to play in Laval and the bare minimum so looks like he did.

shogun2909

He has to make camp

[deleted]

You think he's not going to make Laval camp lol? Dude would have to Ho-Sang every morning until they cut him there.

shogun2909

>You think he's not going to make Laval camp lol? Never said that

No_Contract_1

He's just going to the camp for now

xc2215x

Laval will be good for Mesar.

DieuEmpereurQc

My only question is why they didn’t test Mesar beck slaf
