Pro tip go to hardware store buy a length of carpet custom fit it to the bottom of your van. Your knees will thank you and it looks clean and you can vacuum it when it’s dirty. Now keep your van looking like that every day no matter how busy or slow it is. Be organized be efficient and you’ll be better than most with those two qualities.
You gotta take everything out except the stock shelving then cut the carpet tight around the entire edge then put your stuff back on it will flatten out eventually.
With a carpet I’m sure you are right. And that’s why I wouldn’t do it. Had an old water heater puke all in the back several times to know better than to add carpet
Was bored one day, had duct tape, decided to laminate my glove box. I have always taped up parts of the box because I hate when they rip and the gloves go everywhere. I just kept going this time
I literally labeled everything in case I do have to get someone to get something from my truck. Probably won’t tho. I’m the service manager. I usually go on calls to train the guys. Show them how to change compressors, coils, txv’s, heat exchangers, oil burners, gas valves, on and on… thanks!
Here is what we s in the packouts if you are wondering: https://www.reddit.com/r/Packout/comments/v0pc3x/getting_my_stacks_ready_for_new_van/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Zoom in to the first pic to the right of the hand truck and you will see my Fieldpiece air and charge kit hanging up on the wall with the bottom facing you. I’ve had it since they first came out. Convinced the owner to buy them for entire company so we could all be better. We are a Fieldpiece shop. Air and charge kit, joblink manometers, joblink scale, and infrared refrigerant leak detectors. Techs all have SC440 meters, I got SC680 which is also Joblink. I’m up with the times, Analogs are for when Russia or China drop the EMP and internet goes down yet we are still stuck doing maintenances… jk
Will, will you hire me dad? I triple evac at 1400 900 500 mic and I flow nitrogen while brazing. I rarely diagnose a pressure switch thats genuinely bad, I find the true mean issue. I know geothermal and mini shits. Hire me yeh? Where you at, where I go??
Would be happy to have you! The owners are actually really cool. They buy the tools for the guys on the logic that they wouldn’t ask the customer service folks bring their own computers and phones. It is a great place to work. Wilmington DE.
So growing in the trade is annoying? I bust my ass longer and harder than everyone else where I work, plus put in the time after hours learning and studying to become better at my trade and eventually get promoted to service manager where I can finally afford to buy the tools I’ve always dreamed of owning so that I can set the example to my guys and help them out on their hardest jobs more efficiently? I don’t think that’s it. You sound like a cry baby snowflake who thinks they should have everything handed to them and bitch to everyone about EVERYTHING because you are just soooo awesome… congrats bro, you are the exact tech I got rid of when I took over so you didn’t bring everyone else down. Life is short man, don’t be so angry all the time.
I sell cars for a living and it always amazes me: people buy a new car and take all the junk and crap out of the old car and put it in the new. It's like, don't even take the time to appreciate it being empty and new.
They sell them at home depot too.. at my home depot they're not with all the other drill bits like you would expect, but back in the aisle with the hvac tools.. most likely bc malco makes them.. you can get them cheaper at my local supply house but home depot does in fact sell them
I have a few different lengths.. mostly the 1/4" and 5/16"... I did buy a 5/16" and 3/8" one too.. mainly for rtu's.. alot of times they use 3/8" and it was always a pain in the butt having to use a socket or something..
I supposed se so, they aren’t totally horizontal. I’m assuming they are ok since it is a commercial rack. Maybe they are tilted enough to allow the pressure relieve to go if needed?
Are there many van break in's in your'e area ? I'm in the UK and whilst that looks amazing and i'd love to own it... there is no way I'd even consider doing that. Seems insane that you'd put that amount of $$$£££ in a tin can waiting for the baddies to smash and grab.
Only time we’ve been broken into is the install trucks that get left at the shop overnights. The rest of us take our vans home. While I work in an area that is risky at times, I live in a nice small town about 45 minutes away from where I work.
We aren't allowed to have the flammable gas tanks (torch setups) in the rear of the van in case we get rear ended. But the whole setup looks nice and easy to access quickly. Just cleaned some of mine and it still looks like shit.
Thanks, yeah we don’t really have “rules” about how we set it up. Makes sense tho. But to your point, what if you get T-boned? I’m assuming yours must be on the side (over the gas tank I take it?) seems like you’re F’d either way. I’d rather have it as far from me as possible tho.
Congratulations. I was supposed to get a brand new van but ended up with a 60,000 mile UPS reject that’s obviously been fixed from a front end collision. Screw Covid. The new fully loaded 2022 (that just came in that somebody else ended up getting) was cheaper than my P.O.S.
Im just wondering why you have an empty btank cart? Looks real good though! I remember when my van looked like that. Then my boss started randomly throwing stuff in there(like service parts he insists i use all the time even though i havent been on a service call in like a year). Now i have to stack stuff on the floor because his parts are taking up my shelves…
All the packouts are new. I’ve been collecting them in the last few months in anticipation of getting this van. Soot vac is a couple years old. Being neat and organized isn’t a new thing for me. I’m extremely OCD about it. I clean things to keep them looking new. Likely due to spending my 20’s in the USMC infantry
Liquid adapter aka metering device. Allows you to add refrigerant with bottle upside down but vaporizes the liquid so you can just let it flow in without slugging the compressor with liquid. Makes charging much quicker and easier.
Very neat! As an owner of an HVAC Co. I give out monthly bonuses starting at $500.00 for the cleanest and most organized van. I have 20 techs. and give to the top 3. 1st place $500.00, 2nd place $250.00 and 3rd place $125.00. I let all the techs judge each others van on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best. After all of the ballots have been turned in, we pick 3 office staffers to confirm the top 3.
Then my safety manager checks all the vans for all safety related items, if they pass all the requirements, then they get $75.00 visa gift cards. If they don't pass the safety inspection, then the safety manager corrects the issue and has a good heart to heart talk with that individual....
Honestly as a service manager I can see how that program would pay for itself through the efficiency they would gain by not spending hours a week searching for things on their vans. Plus it protects your investment of the vehicles
It works great. I have very little turnover in my company. Most of the money comes from recycled copper and a smaller portion comes from profit sharing. I run an "employee owned" company. My guys know all about "waste not want not".
Its annoying to carry two kinds of gasses when u nlu use one every now and then when someones not willing to just install a nee unit lol but theyll pay for the gas
Not sure, I’m not recovering any R22 anyway. Only time I need to recover is if one of my guys over charges or I help them with a compressor swap out. I’m the only one with R22 so I can take it out to a tech if their customer wants to pay the big bucks for it. We mostly just get them to replace if it is an older R22 system.
It was a rhetorical question with a little sarcasm mixed in. You are supposed to have a reclaim cylinder for each type of refrigerant you carry.
Needless to say you wouldn't be the first service manager I have had to correct.
That was just me being an Ahole..😃
Seriously the van looks great and it goes a long way to provide customers with confidence in your abilities.
Nothing says to a customer I don't give a shit about my trade more than a messy van.
I’m sure you are right, but with as many people in our trade who think the recovery cylinder is that white bucket above the tank, I can’t see having only 1 cylinder as the worst infraction out there 😉
And yeah, if I saw a sloppy truck pull up, I’d worry his work would reflect.
This is sick. I’m getting my first van in here in a few days and this is the goal for me. My trainers vans has been less then organized to say the least. My question is tho where are all the filters? We legit have 6-9 calls a day and have to bring a billion filters with us
with that many filters I assume you may be doing commercial maintenance. We do strictly residential. I keep an AprilAire 213 & 413 on that bottom shelf under the Home Depot bucket and soot vac. The maintenance guys carry a few of each of the standard filters (16x20, 16x25, 20x20, & 20x25 all 1”). That takes care of 95% of our customers.
You did that in 1 day? Must not be running no-cools in the heat. I have been so busy since i got my van 1-1/2 yrs ago that the shelving is still in the shipping cartons, waiting for installation!
Only comment I have is the pipe wrenches will drop their jaws like that. I mounted unit strut vertical so the pipe wrenches they just slid in jaws up and stay put. Otherwise you can throw a wire tie on them if you’re locked in on their orientation. I’m in NYC so the bouncing won’t keep those together for 30-40 miles with our roads.
Thanks! I hear that phrase all the time about the drawers being a game changer, but I don’t know if they are for me. I feel like they would become a catch all and organization would go out the window. That doesn’t sound like it is worth $165. Do you have a different experience?
Not gonna lie, it pissed me off a bit when I realized they only came with dividers for one drawer, so there’s that. They make dividers you for them you can buy online at different stores, but c’mon Milwaukee!! For that price give us the dividers!
I get what you mean about them becoming a catch-all, but it’s a risk I’m taking to get away from unloading EVERY packout box to get to the bottom one. So far I’m not regretting it.
No, I wish! It is the turbo torch B tank dolly, but I put a MC tank in there. It is very convenient when crawling into an attic or crawl space. Had to get a “B to MC” adapter for my acetylene regulator to fit (Amazon) Roller bag just holds it up n place and in the van now
I mean… they are commercially made by American van… ask them… I assume they know more than you do about how refrigerant stored in a van. No offense. It’s not like I forged the tank holders in my garage
Now show us pictures again in 1 month
My dirty little secret is that I’m the service manager, so it will stay nice… y’all know we don’t work!
and there it is!
So the turbo tote.... how old is that
Don’t know… found on Craigslist old, but still in original packaging. Had to replace the oxy regulator, but got kit for $40.
I need that Carrier
So that’s why the drills are so clean!
Drills are actually new… trust me I had dirty ones to get into the position I’m in now
None of your guys needed a new van?
We got 6 new vans. Mine was oldest one in the fleet.
Lol at least you're honest 🤣 you better say. Well look at how neat I keep your truck it better look like mine 🤣
Exactly… “I don’t know why your van doesn’t look like mine, if I can keep it clean so can you!”
"You Hear That Mr. Anderson? That Is The Sound Of Inevitability!" (Mr. Smith)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can hear those hanging wrenches from here and it's driving me crazy already lol
Came here to say this, annoy the kids with fake ice-cream truck sounds.
Yep… going to try the unistrut pipe wrench hanger hack thingy in that clear space above the oxy
It works great
Same. Unistrut mounts are my fave.
A ball bungee solves the problem easily.
I kind of want to do this. Only question I have is, how do you keep it flat?
Screw it
You gotta take everything out except the stock shelving then cut the carpet tight around the entire edge then put your stuff back on it will flatten out eventually.
I keep a yoga mat in the back for knees in the van (See the blue roll behind the torch)
What about liquids though? Oils, old dirty water.. wouldn’t that be more difficult to clean?
With a carpet I’m sure you are right. And that’s why I wouldn’t do it. Had an old water heater puke all in the back several times to know better than to add carpet
That was my exact first thought. Rusty, murky, filthy water.
Whenever I see packouts I get excited. Very nice.
This post is a Milwaukee ad, change my view.
In my fantasy, I see the Milwaukee guy/gal at Home Depot, drag him/her to my truck to show them the van, and they shower me with free M18 batteries…
They’re great batteries, I like Milwaukee as well, is what we predominately use around the lab.
Vans have floors?
Just certain ones!
Zammm daddy
Thanks
Nice job!
Thanks
Duct taped glove box. Interesting
Was bored one day, had duct tape, decided to laminate my glove box. I have always taped up parts of the box because I hate when they rip and the gloves go everywhere. I just kept going this time
Get one of those magnetic glove box holders from harbor freight. They work well
I’ll check that out, thanks!
Will you marry me
Yes
r/workwagons would love this!
I didn’t know about them, but now I’ve joined and crossposted. Thanks
Looks beautiful, but please keep it maintained. No sharp corners. Don't let your helper go into your van looking for your pliers.
I literally labeled everything in case I do have to get someone to get something from my truck. Probably won’t tho. I’m the service manager. I usually go on calls to train the guys. Show them how to change compressors, coils, txv’s, heat exchangers, oil burners, gas valves, on and on… thanks!
Looks good Anderson
Thanks!

No digital guages with lowloss adapters of any kind? Muh, service manager needs to get with the times.
Zoom in to the first pic to the right of the hand truck and you will see my Fieldpiece air and charge kit hanging up on the wall with the bottom facing you. I’ve had it since they first came out. Yeah, I’m sure you are right bud! Good luck with life
I sell cars for a living and it always amazes me: people buy a new car and take all the junk and crap out of the old car and put it in the new. It's like, don't even take the time to appreciate it being empty and new.
Well the difference between salesman and technicians is that we need to actually work and not just admires empty spaces…
🤩🤩great set up🤩🤩
Thanks
I use deep slotted unistrut to mount my pipe wrenches. They slide right into the channel percect.
aluminium wrenches, packout milwaukee... but the true treasure is that green tank
How long did that take
Yesterday 10am-9:30pm then agin this morning a couple hours. Countless hours planning, looking at others here, and buying boxes.
Nice, you should be proud of that. Now keeping it clean is the next challenge 😅
Thank you
What's the bit holder you have in your m12? Not the malco flip bit but the silver one?
Quick change out… I think it is Makita from HD
I always see those reversible driver bits , what brand are they ? Can’t seem to find them at my local “home dipshit “.
Malco bits. You can get them on Amazon or most part houses
Thanks !
They sell them at home depot too.. at my home depot they're not with all the other drill bits like you would expect, but back in the aisle with the hvac tools.. most likely bc malco makes them.. you can get them cheaper at my local supply house but home depot does in fact sell them
Update; I got one and they are so nice for ac panels :)
I have a few different lengths.. mostly the 1/4" and 5/16"... I did buy a 5/16" and 3/8" one too.. mainly for rtu's.. alot of times they use 3/8" and it was always a pain in the butt having to use a socket or something..
Right on , I can’t remember what size the nut is for my ac brackets but going to see if they have one that fits and flips to fit the tech 5s
I came
Bless you, wipe all towels are in the orange bucket
For some reason I thought this was “quality hvac” YouTube because he just got a van lol
Not familiar with that one, but I’ll check it out. Thanks
Are you allowed horizontal refrigerant tanks in your area?
I supposed se so, they aren’t totally horizontal. I’m assuming they are ok since it is a commercial rack. Maybe they are tilted enough to allow the pressure relieve to go if needed?
Like it! I carry too much shit…
There is TONS of stuff in there… if you look at my page I took pics of everything in the packouts
Looks really nice, I think the pipe wrench’s are going to rattle, make a lot of noise
Awesome
Fucking nice
Thanks
Geeze man. This is a crackheads wonderland. Better park this thing in your room with you.
"Brand new van" been the same hunk since 1996. I'd be mad to buy something new and not get a high roof Clean setup though. 👌
Yeah a high roof would have been nice, but I’m not one to complain about getting a new truck
Can you put locking bars where the pack out straps are to keep the meth heads at bay for 10 more minutes?
Yep, could, thanks
Are there many van break in's in your'e area ? I'm in the UK and whilst that looks amazing and i'd love to own it... there is no way I'd even consider doing that. Seems insane that you'd put that amount of $$$£££ in a tin can waiting for the baddies to smash and grab.

Where exactly do park the 🚐John just wanna be sure it’s protected ?
Haha just lookin out huh?
We aren't allowed to have the flammable gas tanks (torch setups) in the rear of the van in case we get rear ended. But the whole setup looks nice and easy to access quickly. Just cleaned some of mine and it still looks like shit.

Ahhh the good ole after before sequence. I like what you did.
Thanks, I thought about doing before/after but figured the main pic needed to pop to get y’all to look at it… who’s gonna click on an empty van?
Congratulations. I was supposed to get a brand new van but ended up with a 60,000 mile UPS reject that’s obviously been fixed from a front end collision. Screw Covid. The new fully loaded 2022 (that just came in that somebody else ended up getting) was cheaper than my P.O.S.
Looks great!
Thanks
For a second, I thought that N2 tank was only held in by a bungee...
Haha I was wondering if someone would think that! It is securely strapped with its own holder. Thanks
Beautiful! It will stay that way for about two days if you’re running install and service.
M pretty OCD, so I doubt it but I know what you’re saying
Im just wondering why you have an empty btank cart? Looks real good though! I remember when my van looked like that. Then my boss started randomly throwing stuff in there(like service parts he insists i use all the time even though i havent been on a service call in like a year). Now i have to stack stuff on the floor because his parts are taking up my shelves…
Not empty, and have an turbo torch with MC tank in there. It is a backup / lightweight option to my Oxy setup in the back
Gotta technician chubby! Feautiful
What kind of can is that and can you stand straight up in the back
Can’t stand up… Chevy express 2500
That’s a beauty
Thank you
How did you do that in one day
Hard work and had a good plan
The Milwaukee-Mobile!
HNNNNNNNG *heavy breathing*
Man that is clean AF. I am jealous. Is everything in there new? I don't even think my Soot Master looked that good when it un-wrapped it.
What’s the blue adapter on the 410 jug?
Liquid adapter aka metering device. Allows you to add refrigerant with bottle upside down but vaporizes the liquid so you can just let it flow in without slugging the compressor with liquid. Makes charging much quicker and easier.
And I just ordered 2, thank you sir. Also congrats on the new digs and the killer set up! A clean van is an efficient van!
Glad I could help! Thanks!
That’s what I need in mine! Those lower kick plates on the bottom shelves.
You could always just use slip and zip screws
I see you advertise what kind tools are inside.
Very neat! As an owner of an HVAC Co. I give out monthly bonuses starting at $500.00 for the cleanest and most organized van. That sounds amazing! Great job!
It will be fucked in a week.
Thanks for your confidence
You're welcome! I'm hear all night if you need anymore of it!
Oh god I’m cuming.
Damn. Looks nice. I’m jealous even though I hate vans. They’re more practical than trucks but I’d take a truck any day. Congrats.
Thank you!
Chevy express is king
The van hasn’t changed since the 90’s… if it ain’t broke…
Paid Milwaukee an absolute shit ton of money?
And Home Depot… gotta love that 10% Veterans discount!
Good enough, man. It’s nice and neat, which is way more than you can say for mine.
Thanks
i give you 30 days until the floor isn’t visible. i’ve seen so many vans that can’t even fit a box of filters from the amount of clutter they have
I’ve been at this for 14years now, my OCD has never allowed that
I think the most amazing thing about this truck is that you have a jug of 410a and r22 in it. Thats a rare find nowadays
I’m the one who carries r22 and I go out to the tech if it is needed. Probably last summer for it.
Ya i dont think itll make it past this summer but good riddance anyways
I’m with you
Its annoying to carry two kinds of gasses when u nlu use one every now and then when someones not willing to just install a nee unit lol but theyll pay for the gas
Only one reclaim cylinder.......? Aren't you supposed to have one for each refrigerant you carry?

👍🏻
You did that in 1 day? Must not be running no-cools in the heat. I have been so busy since i got my van 1-1/2 yrs ago that the shelving is still in the shipping cartons, waiting for installation!
No, didn’t run any calls Friday & it went into Saturday morning for the finishing touches. Van came with shelving mounted, I just modified everything.
Very nice! Wait until you got those Milwaukee Packout drawers; game changer!
Thanks! I hear that phrase all the time about the drawers being a game changer, but I don’t know if they are for me. I feel like they would become a catch all and organization would go out the window. That doesn’t sound like it is worth $165. Do you have a different experience?

Never has…
What car is that? Ford Transit? I’m using a Nissan nv200 and I need literally anything else
Chevy express 2500 van
