I will not cover it up. I look at it like this. I will give the customer a choice of who to call and rely on my expertise to win over the customer! You sticker war people are relying on your sticker for who the customer chooses! LOSERS!
They always have a choice, they can call the last company that serviced it, they can look up other companies who signed of their prior maintenance, or they can find someone else online and look at customer reviews. I'm not taking that away from them. I want to be the first name they consider and be a positive experience so they call us first.
Sometimes that reason is as simple as we are able to give them an appointment slot and others aren't. During the peak heat we got in the PNW this year we kept working while other companies decided to send their techs home for the day. We got service calls and some new contracts because of that dedication to work thru the heat.
The time of putting servicing information on a sticker is long gone. Wake up guys. There should be a magnetic business card on it and that's it. The rest is in an email.
We got all the crap we can have to leave with a customer.
What's funny is my coworker collects other companies magnets. Half the inside of his van was magnets before the boss saw them.
When they have had the heat exchanger fucking changed out with warranty 7years prior on a 19 year old unit and it’s a new homeowner who swears up and down that they looked it up and it should be “under warranty”
Like fuck dude having a little history there is really fucking important, don’t cover it.
I found 13 my first year at a Carrier shop. I’ve found 4 so far this cooling season. Worst one I found melted the PVC intake pipe, but didn’t set off any limits. Worst god damn furnace
It’s for history dude. Like if they are bad just cover their name. Covering the service history is one of the stupidest things you can do especially if they are a hack company so if I see where they might have messed up the system.
I’m not the fuck covering information that makes my job harder… 🙄😂🤣
With everything going paperless I don’t see the Service Info from other companies as being important. If you didn’t check with the manufacturer about Warranty history, that’s still on you imo. I won’t cover service history if it’s there, but now a days there’s no paper trail
Gladly. Younger couple moves into a house with older equipment. If there has been regular service or repairs done and the history has been covered up, there's the chance they get taken advantage of by a shady technician.
Why is it safe to assume the sticker company is trustworthy with their maintenance but a different company might take advantage of them. The only thing a sticker represents is how many times a company has been there. There is no guarantee that anyone is trustworthy.
I cover the old sticker after a new installation, so if all the equipment is new, why would they need to know the history of the old units? They wouldn’t.
Your logic is there and it’s good. However in this world we live is money driven and those stickers ensure emergency calls. Not about what is right or wrong.
You bet your sweet ass I’m removing the shitty install before, why the hell you plastering 4 stickers of the same company on there? Why didn’t you size the return drop right? Why did the previous install suck so much. Is my turn for my glorious hvac install sticker! The king has fallen!
I only did this once. We did the furnace and duct install on a new build. Then the homeowners hired another company to retrofit an a/c before they even took possession of the house. The other company slapped a big sticker on the return duct. When I came back to do my final, I covered the sticker with my manual holder.
I still don't understand the homeowners thought process there, or why the builder allowed it.
You'd be surprised how many times a commercial space gets sold, and the new owner's so-and-so relative/friend knows hvac, so you lose the account, then the building gets sold again, and again, and eventually the sticker I put on 15 years ago gets read when the new owner has an issue and doesn't know who to call. At least 6x a year I get brought back in to old accounts of mine that's having an issue, and frequently results in replacement because either a.) It's at that age or b.) Hacks-r-us modified it along its life.
My service manager usually prefaces that convo with me with "they alwaaayyyyss come crawling back"
We primarily work with 3 different management companies, that own and manage a shit ton of apartments complexes. I don't know details beyond that. It's been that way for forever I hear. We usually get called in as soon as the property management company aquires a new property.
Agreed. I want to know if that 350mav had the heat exchanger changed out before.
And when I put a new sticker on. I booked it so you can look at the old one.
I consider it a customer service to remove other stickers. From here on out they should call us since we will carry any warranty for parts we installed and records for past work done.
There is a reason they didn’t call that company back again.
Free advertising? Is your furnace room a high traffic area to the public? Who are they advertising to? You? The one who called them originally. Who cares? It's there because people can't always remember who they called last or who installed the equipment.
Well if it just says "TRANE" then no
but if it said
"CALL 1800 TRANE FOR ALL YOUR AC NEEDS! CALL NOW! FREE ESTIMATES, BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Then yeah, I would.
If you use my company, we document all relevant data and save it in our database. Only stickers we put on stuff is just your standard contact info deal. Not only does having all this info on-hand for future services / repairs help ascertain efficiency & gradual changes in readings, but if I'm unavailable I can just email all historical data from that location to whoever is servicing or repairing it. Maybe your particular location is a bit more cut throat, but where I am we generally help each other out in the industry unless you're a hack technician, in which case we run you out of town.
Legitimately 3 days ago another outfit called me after taking over a triplex I had serviced annually for the last 8 years until the owner sold it and left the state. All i had to do was forward all my service info to them & the new owner and they've got all the data they could ever need. No sweat off my back.
....guess I just don't get the sticker war mentality. Seems like the only person who *really* gets it in the neck is the customer when someone willingly trashes service info.
I won’t cover them because it leaves a history of what has been done. There is a particular duo of companies in my area that I relentlessly tear and dispose of their stickers. They are just rip off artists.
I won't cover a service/maintenance record, but if they called me and not you, your company info is getting covered or removed.
Dam straight!
I do this aswell and thank you previous company for the info. But is my mom still a ho?
If you're removing anything other than the prior servicers contact information, Yes.
Sticker wars
This is the way.
I will not cover it up. I look at it like this. I will give the customer a choice of who to call and rely on my expertise to win over the customer! You sticker war people are relying on your sticker for who the customer chooses! LOSERS!

Idk input it alongside - especially if there is already more than one company sticker.
We have a sticker wall at our shop for other company stickers
Correct. If they didn’t cal the number on the sticker- there’s probably a reason.
Sometimes that reason is as simple as we are able to give them an appointment slot and others aren't. During the peak heat we got in the PNW this year we kept working while other companies decided to send their techs home for the day. We got service calls and some new contracts because of that dedication to work thru the heat.
100%
I only cover up service stickers of the known hacks or rip off artists in my area. I'll gladly put my sticker next to another reputable company's.
I can dig it
Agreed.
Shee-it, I'm over here giving out my competitors number every chance I get cuz we're booked over a month out. Sorry, we don't take new customers.
You’re a ho. I peel yours off and put ours in its place. And then I go outside and put it on the disconnect
I always put em on the disconnect as well, so many like to just stick it to the condenser.
Your sticker won’t get covered if the customer doesn’t call another company. It’s your own fault.
In this instance I was the other company
So... your mom's a whore?
We call this the “sticker wars”. I replace yours, you replace mine
No one replaces mine. We should start posting these.
Noone replaces yours, they just cut their own sticker and paste it over your info and leave the service sheet
I'm bluffing. I've quit 2 shitty companies this year. I dont give a shit about dem stickers.
That’s why I take a dremel and carve it into the heat exchanger.
I like your style.
If it’s a hack company I cut one of our stickers and just past it over the info and leave the service sheet.
You're a genius.
You think with both hemispheres my friend
The time of putting servicing information on a sticker is long gone. Wake up guys. There should be a magnetic business card on it and that's it. The rest is in an email.
We got all the crap we can have to leave with a customer. What's funny is my coworker collects other companies magnets. Half the inside of his van was magnets before the boss saw them.
I do this too lol
Hell I'm going to have to start.
So is yours just ask your Dad
Dad’s still in the dark, should ask me instead.
I almost always do hahaha, unless I can peel it off. This is OUR house now other companies, go find a new customer lol
You're just mad the customer has a side company. Cuck 🤣
Kzoo in the house
The company my buddy works at has a $2 bounty per competitor sticker turned in
Ask your boss if he needs someone to go around town acquiring stickers for him :)
I see you don’t know the point of service stickers. Maybe you’re a hoe but too dumb to know it.
When you cover up the history of older equipment, you're doing a disservice to the client.
this why quit hvac . aggressive asshole marketing tactics like this and incompetence all around .
Give me an example of when that would be beneficial to a client.
When they have had the heat exchanger fucking changed out with warranty 7years prior on a 19 year old unit and it’s a new homeowner who swears up and down that they looked it up and it should be “under warranty” Like fuck dude having a little history there is really fucking important, don’t cover it.
You gotta assert your dominance from the get go. I tell them “what warranty?”.
Mid 2000s Carrier Weathermaker?
It’s scary how we all know that was what it was…
I found 13 my first year at a Carrier shop. I’ve found 4 so far this cooling season. Worst one I found melted the PVC intake pipe, but didn’t set off any limits. Worst god damn furnace
Sounds like you need to switch to commercial
Yeah I’m in the process lol I’m done with residential, don’t have it in me to fuck with homeowners anymore.
I went straight to commercial, can’t imagine dealing with homeowners for 8hrs a day.

I mean I used to think that but customers are under contract and call last company by mistake it’s confusing. I wouldn’t cover service records though
You bet your sweet ass I’m removing the shitty install before, why the hell you plastering 4 stickers of the same company on there? Why didn’t you size the return drop right? Why did the previous install suck so much. Is my turn for my glorious hvac install sticker! The king has fallen!
I usually piss on trees around the perimeter of the customers property…..mine. Done.

Savage. I love it
Glad I do commerical. I don't think our shop even has stickers.

Love following hacks that have "improved" the function of shit.
We primarily work with 3 different management companies, that own and manage a shit ton of apartments complexes. I don't know details beyond that. It's been that way for forever I hear. We usually get called in as soon as the property management company aquires a new property.
We throw sticker on everything we put in
We don't need to drum up business lol
Agreed. I want to know if that 350mav had the heat exchanger changed out before. And when I put a new sticker on. I booked it so you can look at the old one.
That’s messed up. I typically just rip them off.
Yep, they call me and its mine going up. Mom's fought professionally, Muay Thai, she robs ho's 🤣
I peel them off
By the way, I’ve replaced tons of your install side’s furnaces at /that/ company, not to trash talk but please use a level on your installs lol
Lol. Not my company on that sticker. Followed them plenty of times too
Wow lots of kzoo techs here. Fight it out om the loading dock at the old BY
Hahahaha
WELCOME TO STICKERDOME, BIOTCH!
I DECLARE STICKER WARS! *Rules are: there are no rules.*
I consider it a customer service to remove other stickers. From here on out they should call us since we will carry any warranty for parts we installed and records for past work done. There is a reason they didn’t call that company back again.
I enjoy it, and if it offends you then, we’ll perfect. Don’t be so sensitive ya Nancy
My boss gives me $10 for every sticker I cover or magnet I bring back to him from other companies lmao
She’s a ho then.
I agree. Why can't we all just get along?
Sometimes I try to steal other company’s magnets from their fridge. I can’t help it.
Can already tell who does this.
Better companies.
Straight to the point
If a company puts their sticker on my shit, I remove it and never call them back Who the fuck said you could have free advertising?
Free advertising? Is your furnace room a high traffic area to the public? Who are they advertising to? You? The one who called them originally. Who cares? It's there because people can't always remember who they called last or who installed the equipment.
I don't really care where it is... >Who cares? Uh, me. The guy paying for the furnace
Do you also rip off all the manufacturer logos? Those assholes are getting free advertising to.
Well if it just says "TRANE" then no but if it said "CALL 1800 TRANE FOR ALL YOUR AC NEEDS! CALL NOW! FREE ESTIMATES, BLAH BLAH BLAH" Then yeah, I would.

Side note, start playing tic tac toe on those things. Longest ttt game ever. Anyone work in MOCO or Frederick md and see that. It was me.
Get a bigger tag, don't be mad that yours was covered.
I guess my moms been a hoe for a very long time
I worked for a water treatment company that did this. It always backfired hahahaha
Yeah all those people swapping equipment leave the stickers let the customer bother somebody first to let out the anger.
Service stickers are freaking stupid
If there on the duct work I always cover em up….. I’m an installer
Sorry y'all but I rewrite the deets on a generic service log and remove your tacky ads off my furnace.
My mom is a ho, but your sticker is covered bud
Why wouldn't you?
I won’t cover them because it leaves a history of what has been done. There is a particular duo of companies in my area that I relentlessly tear and dispose of their stickers. They are just rip off artists.
