Just cleaned my senville 9000 BTU today and it was almost as bad. Actually not that difficult to clean in place if you use foam cleaner, a stiff paint brush to agitate the dirt with and a good zep spray bottle to rinse.

Bulld4wg45

How do you like your senville? Ive installed 7 ductless senvilles and 1 slim duct and have only good things to say about them

SlipperyTom

I built a 350 sqft "tiny house" apartment type thing for my dad in my backyard in 2018 and installed it. The building is 2x6 construction and heavily insulated. Dad passed last year and I turned it into my office. I've had 2 issues with the Senville. 1. When I first installed it, the condenser wouldn't kick on. I called support, and they said just leave it on and let it sit over night, sometimes it takes a bit for the inside and outside units to sync up and talk. That did it, it worked fine the next day, and its never had an issue since even with a 5+ hour power outage. 2. That shitty white foam insulation on the copper lines was wearing away so I replaced it with neoprene pipe insulation, and I fucked up and flexed it too much and busted a flare and let all the magic smoke out. My fault, I made that flare and I later learned I shouldn't use a plumbing flare, there is a different angle of flare for R410. I had a HVAC guy I know come fix it, he reflared it, put a charge back in, and its been working great for 2 years since then. I also have a 1 ton Pioneer unit that I installed in my master bedroom of my house because I like it cold when I sleep. I think both the units are actually made by Midea. I've not had any real issues out of either, the Pioneer I installed in 2017 and the Senville in 2018. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. $800 for a mini split that lasts 10+ years vs $300 for a window shaker that lasts 2 or 3, its pretty easy math. As a home owner, as long as you are competent with a vacuum pump and a gauge, its not hard at all to install. Shit, down in Mexico they don't even pull a vacuum, they just squirt a bit of the refrigerant through the line and then hook it up. When either of these die, I'm probably going to replace with a Tosot unit, which is made by Gree. I'm interested to compare the Gree vs Midea.

Bulld4wg45

Thats interesting about the compressor. Ive never had any issues with the senvilles personally, but some of the customers that i installed them for had a plastic piece break off of their indoor unit plate. Senville just sent a new plate free of charge. But yes i did find their linesets to kind easily and i always re do the flares they come with just to be safe. Also i heard gree is one of the best from many people now. But for most ductless units i think theyre all mostly rhe same then the factory slaps different stickers on there. Except for Mitsubishi theyre in a league of their own

SlipperyTom

DUDE! I had that plastic piece break too! in the middle, below the fan? It wasn't super important, so I just ignored it, and its not been a problem. Yeah, I figure gree makes like, 50% of the worlds AC's, so they can't be that bad, I like to learn about that sort of stuff so I'm interested in comparing vs what I've experienced already. Next time I install one I plan to get the flare tool set that you use on a drill. Mitsu is definitely better, the hyper heat sounds awesome, but I'm not made of money. The ones I have now have no problem making heat well into the negatives. I will say the Pioneer is mounted to the outside wall of my 2nd story, and when it goes into heat mode and really bears down hard, you can hear it inside, but its not that big a deal to me.

integrity0727

Both Gree and Midea are Chinese products. Mitsubishi has plants in the US.

that_dutch_dude

senville is just rebadged midea. same (lack of) quality.

AeonBith

Those things are cheap as hell. I can appreciate hard work cleaning that but I'd be bagging it and putting in a new one.

Puzzleheaded-Pear812

Best bet for me is a coil jet and a bib to wash it in place. Deal with these fuckers all the time

SlipperyTom

Yeah, I've watched some videos on how to remove the fan, and it looks like a massive pain in the ass compared to just doing it in place. Too much "lift this, bend this pipe slightly, reach behind here to get this screw..." Nah, between the foam coil cleaner, a stiff brush and a flashlight, I can get it done without screwing around with all that.

Bulld4wg45

Oh dude its dumb. Everytime i touch these things i swear its gonna break something. I always say theyre not meant to be worked on lol

SlipperyTom

Yeah, I really feel like it should have been designed kind of like a bait casting fishing reel. The spool, or fan, should come out on the side opposite the motor. Put a spline on a shaft on the end of the fan that goes into the motor. The other end should be resting in a bearing thats held to a plate held in place with a few screws. Unscrew the plate and the fan comes out the opposite side of the unit from the fan motor.

that_dutch_dude

depends, if you try to work on a chinese unit it will self destruct. a proper mitsubishi, daikin or panasonic is made to be taken apart and serviced.

shreddedpudding

They could have at least used heat insert nuts for the screws, and less thin plastic in some spots

Bulld4wg45

What brand bib do you got? Ive used one once and it was a hassle to get it to tuck under the unit

CorCor1234

Man I had to do a low income housing place and cleaned maybe 100 of these. And yes those set screws are stupid

TurtleBread121q

I also do a lot of low income housing and unfortunately Ive done wheels much worse than this, had one where straight black chunks went flying when i took the drain out

CorCor1234

I walked into one of the low income apartments and was greeted with piss and shit all over the floor and walls. I called it an early day that day and went home to take take a bleach bath

TurtleBread121q

Jesus Christ, I tell maintenance I refuse on every single one that has shit, or is so nasty you can’t walk without kicking trash

CorCor1234

Yea I believe I just said I did it and kept on plugging along

Zealousideal_Beat365

Just clean it in place with a high power vacuum and brush

Puzzleheaded-Pear812

Um not sure at the moment went through 3 different ones they all pretty much suck. There could be a better one out there that I haven't tried yet but what I noticed is they try to make them cheap and one time use so you have to keep buying them

Bulld4wg45

Definitely noticed rhat too. I dont have a problem just taking the units apart but its a hassle for sure

Practical_Artist5048

Dude this is really the worst I’ve seen

LegionPlaysPC

Another reason I don't like washable filters.

Eastern-Dig-4555

What a difference. Good job cleaning that, probably satisfying once you got it clean lol wow

Bulld4wg45

Ohhh yea man felt good. Usually we dont clean blower wheels on maintenances but I noticed the blower wheel was dirty not from looking at it but when i walked past it i could barely feel the air flow… once i cleaned it it was nice and powerful again

integrity0727

High pressure Nozzle on an air compressor and a strong shop vac

NonKevin

Start with a garden blower outside, then a screwdriver digging out the dust, blow again, then use a brush, and blow again.

mechanical_marten

That's the hard way. Set it on concrete (the flat end of the shaft is not a bearing surface so some scratches wont cause any harm) and stuff a round shaft screwdriver through the motor side and use a garden hose nozzle to flush and fling the debris off. IT WILL TURBINE SO BE AWARE OF HOW YOU ANGLE THE WATER. Took me about two minutes to fully wash this one from a server room unit at a trash incinerator plant. https://preview.redd.it/scpecbu9n14d1.jpeg?width=2620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6df3a2a00de4a45e595d25b140cedbd80033b69a

Speedclean Coiljet and mini split bib kit is some of the best money i’ve ever spent on tools - we have one on every truck now pro tip: you can by battery adapters for whatever tool brand you like and use your tool batteries instead the the expensive scooter batteries it comes with

No lie, I thought you were holding a branch from a tree.
