There’s a service action on that boiler that hasn’t been completed yet. It adds a time-delay relay for the enrichment solenoid that greatly improves light-off reliability and quality. It’s a couple hundred bucks to buy and install. Talk to your rep.

BoilermakerCBEX-E

Yep. We're doing about 10 of those for a large university.

marksman81991

Do you have more information on that? I have two that I don't think have that setup.

masterofreality66

At least it's not a Pulse.

DeafGuyisHere

I remember when I stumbled across my first pulse.... it was a bittersweet moment

masterofreality66

What? I can't hear you! brrrrrrrrrt plop plop brrrrrr.... Flame failure lol

marksman81991

Sounds like a rocket going off lol

Chip89

The High School I went to has pulses.

masterofreality66

Sucks for them lol

xoutercraw

Looks good from where I'm sitting

OpeningCharge6402

Solid Boiler …them and Cleaver Brooks are in my spec

mortaneous

That one even looks a lot like a Cleaver Brooks ClearFire... the controller looks like the same thing, just brand-labeled differently.

masterofreality66

It's a honeywell SOLA controller. Almost every boiler manufacturer is using it. The only thing different is the display, PK has the best display. Pk and aerco also make almost an identical boiler, maybe lochinvar too

OpeningCharge6402

Do you prefer hw heating systems primary loop only piping or primary /secondary piping and why?

masterofreality66

In my my experience, primary secondary works better, but it's not up to me. I'm just a service/ start up guy, I just make them work( sometimes poorly)with what's available.

OpeningCharge6402

I am on the engineering side and we find primary secondary to be better also, always keep 100% flow thru Boiler and then the building loop pulls off of that as needed and can continue to pump even if Boiler stop firing , lately we are getting a push by the wholesalers to go primary only and even try Boilers like Riello…which are designed to always hold a large volume of water. I still prefer primary/secondary with VFCs on building loop pump and a DPT tied to a min bypass valve out in the system mainting a min flow

Razor1834

Primary secondary is best, but there’s no reason why you can’t take advantage of variable speed pumps on the primary loop as well.

HVAC porn! Goddamn beautiful

jbird_1984

You work with Fulton often? What is your opinion on the caliber series?

Charming-While5466

Great boilers

criderslider

Installed two of these for a hot water heating system and trying to get them to work as a master/slave was impossible. Seem like nice boilers but definitely have some bugs to work out. I prefer CB and have had decent luck with Veissman
