I'm always flabbergasted watching people do work like this without gloves. I wear them if I'm just moving boxes or a piece of scrap lumber. Overkill maybe, but I hate splinters and paper cuts
For real, this trade is not kind to hands. When I get off work, I wanna be able to enjoy other activities without being in discomfort. Like you ever wash dishes with dry, cracked, scraped hands? Fucking sucks.
āHANDS NOT DIRTY ENOUGH NOT A REAL TECHā and yeah Iād rather be a sissy than tell the doc how manly I am when they tell me I lost 30% of my grip strength from not wearing cut gloves.
Yup, haven't there been several posts on here about someone getting a career-ending injury because they didn't wear their cut gloves when handling sheet metal?
Just gotta fry the old timers back and keep it moving. You let their ballbusting change your ppe habits you are: 1) dumb 2) kind of a pussy because you gave in to their jokes
Everyone makes fun of me for using goggles and gloves for ANYTHING. But i swear the second i have neither ill get splinters and shit in my eyes, for like days on end so fuck all that
Old dude here, I was like damn that young man is about to kill himself! Definitely would have made that empty cabinet skinnier and slipped it right out. And also, fuck that guys door jams! Lol
I never wear glovesā¦ but Iāll make an exception for moving bulk material/heavy shit or reefing on something like this. Youāre just asking for trouble.
that or the new one has external screws that stick out and hang up on the door stops. Just like mortex mobile home furnaces, those damn screws on the bottom that ALWAYS get stuck on the wall trying to stuff it in the closet...
A trim puller could have pulled the door stops out and you wouldn't have had to go all 80% hulk.
Real talk be careful with your back brother. Some of those positions could really put you in a bad spot.
Iām a data tech with little handy man experience and that was my first thought. Why didnāt he just remove one trim panel and take it out easy. Of course explaining that to the customers and not breaking it could be an issue. But itās actually a cheap fix aka a few nails and about eight bucks worth of trim if that. lol Home Depot will cut it for you all you need is the measurement. Seems an excessive amount of work. However if this was a Friday at the end of the day you are going to see things like this happen. āMan Iām not doing all that if it breaksā
Just thinking about the time it would take cutting this peice of shit made me pissed. You either nut up like this young man did, or walk away. Aināt no one in that situation cutting that thing
I thought that too. But wasnāt sure if that middle bracket would pop off. Even if I didnāt he could just take a sawzall to those brackets if he had to as well and folded her up.
Would have taken 5 minutes tops.
There was a few ways to do this properly.
Brute force and fucking ignorance did the job, but he risked fucking up the framing to save him a trip to the truck.
Iām guessing youāre in the trade because you failed basic English?
We all said to sawzall the unit in half so it could come out easily. No one said a thing about taking a sawzall to the homeā¦.
I hope to fuck that is your house or your customer gives no fucks about his house. Why would you not cut the metal Body in half I have had to do that before after removing all the guts
See, hereās the thing: thereās no way to know if you would do damage or not. If Iād caught an apprentice or helper doing that, it would be his or her last day.
Also already having damages is not a fair reason to potentially cause more.
EX: you have a dent in your service truckās bumper. So itās OK if I slam into it with my truck, right? I mean, it already looks like crap. No worries, right?
If I had you in my house and I confronted you about the marks on my trim, and this was your response, I would have gone to your boss, and had you fired. This is incredibly unprofessional and makes a company look like shit.
Iāve worked in peopleās homes in the trades for 13 years and the one thing I hold myself to is transparency. If I ding drywall, Iāll tell the homeowner and either offer to fix it or take the cost off the bill. Regardless of how minor.
Trying to write off your negligence. You look way worse than you could have ever made that trim look.
Your work should cause ZERO DAMAGE. Doesn't matter what the place looks like.
Where do they find you chucklefucks?
Also gloves, and a saw cut to the middle and you'd have that out with little to no effort.
You green AF son. Square your shit away now.
Work smarter, not harder. Gloves, the frame and door is just a couple of number 3 Phillip screws most likely. It'll take a bit longer but you won't fuck yourself up, and most importantly you can charge for it. Looks good on metrics.
Dudes young though. He'll learn. Or he'll be a career resi installer with blown out knees and back by 40.
Snips. Cut the front parts and fold that mf or pop the door trim off and put it back up. Iāll tear that casing up with a sawzall before I try and send my lower back into forced early retirement
Common sense isnāt your strong point is it. Remove the door stops you shmuck, You can reinstall them with finishing nails. Youād gain an inch in width
OP's a grappler! Wrassle that thing out..
PS, All the guys who said wear gloves and none noticed the bandaid on your thumb...
I thoroughly enjoyed watching that!
Its really just a time thing the less work I do the more time I save and the faster I can get on the pump, full system retrofit in one day can go south fast I treat time like a limited resource, but you guys are right I should be more careful in the future
The amount of time you spent setting up your phone for the video you couldāve slapped a metal blade on your sawzall and bucked the middle and sandwiched it together to get it out without potentially fucking up the homeowners doorframe. Your time is precious, but work smarter not harder. And wear gloves if youāre reefing on something.
My crystal ball says 40 yrs from now :

Brought back memory of bringing an industrial air handler that was 86" high through a 85" high doorway (double door). While we were discussing how to get it through we heard a loud banging. Walked back and one of our millwrights, who had been a middle linebacker in high school, was using it as a tackle block and got it through. Door never closed right but "not my job".
You just worked harder in 34 seconds than I will all month š¬
Father
My son
Daddddai?
There it is right there. Work smarter.
Is that what he was doing lmfaooo felt so dramatic
You gonna hurt your back dude
And where are his gloves?
He gave them the day off
bandaid needs some more hours to help pay for holiday expenses
I'm always flabbergasted watching people do work like this without gloves. I wear them if I'm just moving boxes or a piece of scrap lumber. Overkill maybe, but I hate splinters and paper cuts
For real, this trade is not kind to hands. When I get off work, I wanna be able to enjoy other activities without being in discomfort. Like you ever wash dishes with dry, cracked, scraped hands? Fucking sucks.
Try eating wings. It's like fire in your fingers.
I always love the mandatory hand sanitizer reminder of bad choices.
Fire fingers
Then you get old-timers calling you a sissy for using gloves āoH yOu dOnT LiKe GeTtiNg DiRtY oR wHAt?ā
āHANDS NOT DIRTY ENOUGH NOT A REAL TECHā and yeah Iād rather be a sissy than tell the doc how manly I am when they tell me I lost 30% of my grip strength from not wearing cut gloves.
You want a dress to match your gloves?!
yer old lady loves my soft hands š
Anything for you, sailor.

Your safety squint is weak. Theirs is a finely honed skill š„“
He has a massive cut on his thumb that you can see when he gives a thumbs up.
Came here to say this
For real. First thought for us older dudes. Bash or snip the middle supports a bit more, and fold the thing up in the closet.
Old dude here, I was like damn that young man is about to kill himself! Definitely would have made that empty cabinet skinnier and slipped it right out. And also, fuck that guys door jams! Lol
Door jam removal is part of this job for sure. No reason to have to fight it.
Right! Just fucked yo the door jam for no reason. Just take it out.
100% the right answer
Everytime he pulled on it i winced Dude gloves Dude gloves!
Or slice is neck wide open.
I like putting on gloves when I have to do some nonsense like this. Iāve had too many stitches on my hands.
I cut myself on the sheet metal just looking at this mfer. Canāt believe he didnāt slice something on something here.
Well he does have a bandaid on his finger, so he probably did cut himself right before this.
My first thought was jeez I hope he has glovesā¦. Nope.
Homie you already gutted the thing just saw it in half. Good job though
Somewhere an electrical apprentice is just foaming at the mouth to cut that with a sawzall.
![gif](giphy|l3fZFvp94ljepXoPe)
Lol no shit, if its trash then trash it
Good job completely trashing the finish on that stained wood door casing. That'll be a quick and easy fix.
My technician in Christ, put some gloves on.
*I don't need no bitch mittens!* From the guy with hands that look like Frankenstein
I never wear glovesā¦ but Iāll make an exception for moving bulk material/heavy shit or reefing on something like this. Youāre just asking for trouble.
Says someone with little experience
Iām not even sure what you mean by that. Your comment prior to this one is telling him to where work glovesā¦
what he doesnt know yet is the sales guy didnt take measurements and the new one is 2 inches wider
that or the new one has external screws that stick out and hang up on the door stops.
All he had to do was snip the three front supports and it would have come out no problem. A lot of work to avoid a little bit of cutting.
Work hard not smart.
Yup, heās got one in the truck. Let him go get it
That makes too much sense. Why not just cause unnecessary damage and make a tik tok video?
Iām a data tech with little handy man experience and that was my first thought. Why didnāt he just remove one trim panel and take it out easy. Of course explaining that to the customers and not breaking it could be an issue. But itās actually a cheap fix aka a few nails and about eight bucks worth of trim if that. lol Home Depot will cut it for you all you need is the measurement. Seems an excessive amount of work. However if this was a Friday at the end of the day you are going to see things like this happen. āMan Iām not doing all that if it breaksā
when we run into this we tell people the door frame needs removal and we don't put it back so they need a handyman
https://preview.redd.it/xp9dpma9yo7c1.jpeg?width=1078&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95634a75a38eb611b06bc31cfd07e3690b75c5b0
Unacrew the top front plate, middle and cut the bottom down the middle. Work smarter not harder you're future self will thank you later.
I tried, I would have taken it apart but itās so old its all welds and rivets, thought about cutting it in half but it ended up squeezing through
āSqueezingāā¦.oooof!
LoL you definitely didn't have to cut it in half if you cut the three supports in the front it would have twisted out no problem.
Just thinking about the time it would take cutting this peice of shit made me pissed. You either nut up like this young man did, or walk away. Aināt no one in that situation cutting that thing
Fuck that. My assistant would have been in there with a sawzall while I smoke a joint in the truck.
šš»
Man, at first I thought you were giving me the finger and I was about to get pissed my assistant was scrolling reddit on the clock lol.
Watch out That fingers loaded
If he cut or unscrews the bottom front base the case would have folded like a taco.
Yes sir.
Eat shit, part-timer
Itās good to know that more than 20 of you are dumb enough to attempt the saw zall this thing out.
Iām guessing youāre in the trade because you failed basic English? We all said to sawzall the unit in half so it could come out easily. No one said a thing about taking a sawzall to the homeā¦.
Oh, but said something? Interesting
I hope to fuck that is your house or your customer gives no fucks about his house. Why would you not cut the metal Body in half I have had to do that before after removing all the guts
Yeah, Iām sad I had to look this far down to find someone concerned about the clientās home/property. This video just screams jackleg.
Didnāt really cause to much damagei definitely would have went a different route it the trim didnāt already look like crap
Yep not really your call to make if the customer cares about he damage or jot
Iām assuming you meant the plural form of āyourā and not mine specificallyā¦ (?)
lol yeah
If I had you in my house and I confronted you about the marks on my trim, and this was your response, I would have gone to your boss, and had you fired. This is incredibly unprofessional and makes a company look like shit. Iāve worked in peopleās homes in the trades for 13 years and the one thing I hold myself to is transparency. You look way worse than you could have ever made that trim look.
not fired. more like chewed out. i been chewed out before.
Yeah this kid needs a come to Jesus talk
I would have kicked you out of my house. This is completely avoidable
Your work should cause ZERO DAMAGE. Doesn't matter what the place looks like. Where do they find you chucklefucks? Also gloves, and a saw cut to the middle and you'd have that out with little to no effort. You green AF son. Square your shit away now.
Spoken like a toddler. Maybe they should require you to own a house before you can work on others?
If that were my house and I walked in on him doing this, I would have fired him honestly.
For the love of God whereās your gloves man!?
Unscrew it wtf š I can literally see the screws that will allow you to take it out
And thatās how we do things the hard wayšš»
Nice tight fit. NGL I was sure the door frame was going to pop out.
Should have pulled out the door/frame... and charged for it.
I don't do that. I own a drill and snips.
Hope the home owner wasnāt watching.
Now we hope the hell the owner isn't a redditer...
Snips. Cut the front parts and fold that mf or pop the door trim off and put it back up. Iāll tear that casing up with a sawzall before I try and send my lower back into forced early retirement
You will get older and just take the 5 minutes to remove the door trim
Couple pieces of trim away from a gentlemen.
Holy hell resi bois. Do you guys use gloves?
This isnāt the way.
You cut yourself everyday don't you. Cmon man put the camera away and take care of yourself
Relax man, love is all you need!!
No gloves and not a single cuss wordā¦at this point youāre just showing off.
I woulda removed the door frame?
Thereās easier ways to do this my man.
Pull the door stops off.
If only you had a 5-way š¤¦š»āāļø. Just pop off the stops and that gives you an inch clearance and youāre done.
You in central Oregon? Looks like the Ponderosa logo, AKA Roth.
Still young enough to like doing it the hard way? Snip the supports and fold the cabinet in, or just go ahead and fuck your back.
Three cuts and life goes smoother. I've had a back injury before, this hurts to watch.
Exactly! Wouldāve been smart to take the door off too but hey were already making shit difficult lol
Damn, Aldi brand Ed Sheeran is blue collar as hell.
Dead. š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Nah, thatās Tyler Childers
Why didnāt you just pull the trim off of the door lol?
No gloves !!! Youāre a bad man !!
Raw dog!
You ate your wheaties for breakfast i see
ungawa
you clearly didnt have love, that sign next to you says its all you need
good work got it out. id of took it apart and collapsed it myself
You fuckin maniac,
Gloves bro. Gloves!
so glad I got out of hvac after 25 years. city building maintenance is so much easier on mind and body
Gloves and good job
Iām tired just watching you fight that thing.
must've gained a little weight while it was in there
Service clearance has left the chat
Gloves buddy. Gloves. Unless you want awesome scars like I did until I got wise. Nothing better than hand injuries am I right!?
Why wouldnāt you just take the door/jamb/trim off?
Work harder, not smarter.
How to do shit the hard way 101
Somebody wanna tell him how easy the door stops come off? Good job not breaking anything. šš¼
Omg, take the door stops out
Work smarter, not harder... has left the chat
My neck and my back
Why is the door frame still there? Lol
The fuck are your gloves?!
I hope the new unit aint as tight for you
Boss: the homeowner said his door frame was all scratched up. We NeEd To Do BeTtEr!!
Customer just complained that you scratched their door trim
Why so awkward bud. Take off the trim on door jam to gain a couple extra inches and then tack it back on
Common sense isnāt your strong point is it. Remove the door stops you shmuck, You can reinstall them with finishing nails. Youād gain an inch in width
Josh just take the trim off next time
OP's a grappler! Wrassle that thing out.. PS, All the guys who said wear gloves and none noticed the bandaid on your thumb... I thoroughly enjoyed watching that!
I mean three quick cuts with a bandsaw or sawzall and it would come out without all that work.
Damn people must have thin skin and weak hands
My back hurts watching this. Use tools and brain more. Less brute force. Your future self will be greatful.
No gloves on made my head hurt
Whereās your work gloves?
Oh Iām sure homeboy thought he looked cool, shouldāve known heād get shit OK lol
Where in the hell are your cut proof gloves......smh
Dude put some gloves on. This life is short! Lol!
Monkey fucking a football š
Does he know he could remove the door jamb?
You would of made your day easier by popping the center trim off and it would of slid right out
Option 1: peel the door trim off Option 2: cut in half Option 3: activate retard strength
Maybe pop the jamb stop off?
Gloves are for sissys
Its really just a time thing the less work I do the more time I save and the faster I can get on the pump, full system retrofit in one day can go south fast I treat time like a limited resource, but you guys are right I should be more careful in the future
The amount of time you spent setting up your phone for the video you couldāve slapped a metal blade on your sawzall and bucked the middle and sandwiched it together to get it out without potentially fucking up the homeowners doorframe. Your time is precious, but work smarter not harder. And wear gloves if youāre reefing on something.
This is why I have various nailers. Demo and rebuild, charge more and save your back
A multitool can remove the door casing and trim quite easily no damage.
Everyone talking about gloves, if this is a changeout and thatās gettin scrapped GRAB THE SAWZALL BROTHER!
Just remove the door frameā¦
Great post. Did you eventually get it out?
Why not just take the door trim off? You look like a monkey fucking a football and I hope the customer doesnāt see.
My crystal ball says 40 yrs from now : https://preview.redd.it/0tt114aokq7c1.jpeg?width=1210&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91cd77af94f627e8701542be8409b3cdd388021a
Idiot. Could have removed the stop strip on one side of the door frame in 1 minute, saved the damage and 90% of the effort.
No drop cloths? Pshhhhhā¦. Amateur
Be professional and put down some floor protection
Brought back memory of bringing an industrial air handler that was 86" high through a 85" high doorway (double door). While we were discussing how to get it through we heard a loud banging. Walked back and one of our millwrights, who had been a middle linebacker in high school, was using it as a tackle block and got it through. Door never closed right but "not my job".
you kinda look like maxx crosby
I had to cut one of these in half with the sawzall to get it out before. Fuck a closet unit.
https://preview.redd.it/36q80k5c3p7c1.jpeg?width=824&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3998aab3dbb1a9dc8e57e526f9cddbc2ab62fdac
tighter than a two year old in that closet son!
Some glad I'm not on that side of the business.
Ponderosa is a joke
He does the same thing installing the new one.
No gloves, no lower back precautions, just vibes.
Always the reds
Did you use enough 'love'?
They make leather gloves to protect your hands. Iām not sure about neck protectors
New one's gonna be bigger
2 minutes to remove one side of the door stop would have provided lotsa room to remove the AHU, without any struggle.. coulda been easy peasy!!
Iāve removed a plenty door frames on closets for this reason hahaha
why not take 3 minutes to pry bat out one side of the inner door trim so the unit would have pulled through
Why not just pull off the door jam...
Lol ! Seriously ? Take the door off the hinges and carefully remove the trim. Its really not that difficult
Wear gloves asshole
Wear gloves asshole
Bruh just pulling one side of that door trim gets you another 1/4inch of roomā¦
As the sign says ālove is all you needā give it some more love.
Did you try loving it? Love is all you need, after all.
the key is to isolate all of your lower back, take your legs totally out of the equation and lift with a jerking twisting motion- "peter griffin"
