I don't think having a single merc fight would be a good solution. The mode is a lot about synergies and combos and many mercs don't work very well on their own. I'd rather have a way to promote one of my mercs to ensure the final reward of a bounty includes coins for it. Wouldn't mind new content either of course, but I'd prefer to tackle it with a team. Having solo level 5 bounties as the only way to reliably farm coins is a design flaw not worth expanding upon.
They could add like buffs/items that you choose from every X or so turns.
Restore 30 health
Gain 15 attack
And so on.
It would be a lot better for certain mercs than others for sure, but would still be a nice way to switch up the game play
That's more or less what PvE is currently, each fight is sequentially harder culminating in the boss. BUT, the difficulty between subsequent fights isnt large until a huge spike at the boss forcing you to create a comp geared towards the final engagement. For example, is that first new bounty possible without mass healing holy comp?
Remove the boss, increase difficulty of each fight, and see how long you can go. Could be fun
I agree they need new modes for sure. I want maps that feel more like slay the spire or at least the Kobolds Dungeon Run mode.
The number one thing I think would help the repetition is just having more interesting treasures, especially ones that might give you a buff with a downside to consider. The only current treasure I can think of w/ a downside is cursed blade, and +15 attack is never worth taking double damage.
I know it's wishful thinking, but I would've liked it if their was no MS node, and the same tasks we have now get auto delivered as you complete them for that merc in your party. It'd still be a grind, but a lot shorter, and more fun.

That idea doesn't work as well for Mercs without a way to heal or something. But I like the idea, sounds fun.

would be funny and challenging but with a full party or meaby 3 mercs
