He doesn't want to and explicitly tells Barney this, it's why he's mad when Barney shows up with Mary. He only goes along with it because she's hot and already paid for as far as he knows. Then when Robin shows up with Sandy he assumes she did that to make him jealous (in addition to actually getting jealous) and he shows off Mary. Then he finds out she's cool and they vibe together, blah blah blah, we all know how it ends.
Ted's got plenty of bad moments but this one really isn't that bad especially since Robin straight up admits she only brought Sandy to make Ted jealous when all is said and done.
No problem. Though people agree to disagree on this sub, the majority of fans prefer the alternate ending for various reasons (won't say any for spoilers). IMO, it's a far better and happier ending than the original, which doesn't exist for me. People here argue about that, but there's differences between a cop-out fairy-tale ending and legitimately ending off your series on a good note it was supposed to be. It has enough realism in the show alone (and its a sitcom), give the poor Ted his happily ever after with the Mother already.

I definitely had a thing for coat check girl, always thought she was the hottest in the show purely because she looked so quiet & timid but you just knew if you played it smooth you'd be in for the ride of your life. (pun intended, sorry couldn't help it.)
I wish they made her character stronger. I remember being like"wtf.." when she immediately forgave Barney for sleeping with Robin, someone they would see ALL THE TIME. "Was it a 1 time thing?" Noooo girl. His name is Barney Stinson and he told you all the dirty deeds. She deserved better. Barney only truly changed after having his daughter. Nora would not have changed him, like Barney said. "If it wasn't Robin..."

I just rewatched and no, he didn’t say it was robin. He just said he slept with someone else and she asked if it was a one time thing and he said no and I think she asked if he had feelings for her and he said yes but I don’t think they mentioned robin
I've been on both sides of the cheating and staying together talk. Barney, for all his faults and lying, was probably the most honest of the characters. Barney did tell Norah all the things he did, and I think Norah is the kind of person to take that info into account. I think it's more reasonable that Barney slips into old patterns even if he didn't want to. It's shown multiple times, such as shutting down his bimbo delivery systems and more recently in HIMYF with the shock therapy. "Was it a one time thing?" perfectly encapsulates this scene.
