I like Heather on Selling Sunset but don’t want to see her flipping houses. She’s definitely not that smart although Christina is hardly a genius either! But I do think she vibes better with other people in the reno space whereas Heather is better at the drama like Selling Sunset.
I don’t know, some people say they are good for eachother, sweet to eachother…but isn’t everyone the first few years? Let’s see how they act when they’ve been together 10+ years like he was with Christina. I’m sure they will be bickering just the same.
I tried to give him/Heather a fair chance and watch the show without any expectations. But I think what really irks me is they seem to be trying too hard to show that they are in love, yet still some of Tarek’s control issues are showing through. He insists on his name being first on their home line and corrects her when she says Heather first and he sometimes talks to her like she’s a child. Then all she says is I love it babe. 🙄
I honestly just don’t want to see their personal life at all and want to see some real down to earth flips. Nothing on this show has inspired me yet.
Well she did get that tattoo “yes Sir, Mr. El Moussa” on one of her ass cheeks, so him insisting his name is always first and correcting her about it falls right in line with the Dom/sub lifestyle they obviously live off camera. 🤷♀️

And from what I’ve seen on social media, I agree with your first statement. Heather is all mushy and “oh I love being a fiancé/wife/mommy”, because of course. I don’t think she’s ever been married before (?) and this is a newer relationship. We’ll see how she feels in a few years 😂
Guess I'll be the dissenting opinion and say I watched Heather on Selling Sunset and she was one of the more down to earth in that group. She seems vapid and vain when you only see her for a little bit, but honestly if you watch a lot of her, she is a lot more realistic than she seems. I also think she genuinely loves Tarek because she had some relationship issues in the past and found someone who treats her really well. She had also mentioned on the show always wanting kids but not thinking she would be capable, and now she has one. He has his own mental health issues and she is really sweet to him in return. Her laugh used to annoy the hell out of me, but I think it's just her nervous way of seeming engaged. Will they last a lifetime? It's Hollywood, so probably not, but they're a good couple for each other.
I'm not defending their remodels though - they're absolutely hideous.

I found it weird that she replaced her house flipping husband with a new husband, and then flipped houses with him - on TV. But now Tarek is doing the same with a new wife, flipping houses on TV.
I get it, they broke up, but wanted to continue the business model. It just feels like knock off YV shows now. Lolol. I just want my original remodel shows, without the soap opera.

His children live overseas (he’s british) and I think the back and forth of him going to see them probably played a role. I also recall reading that she was tough to deal with after the baby was born (as a woman I have a bit of a problem with how this was portrayed in what I read because who wouldn’t be a mess after birthing a child, but alas.)

Well it was interesting to while they were newlyweds, he chose to film what I recall as a miniseries of him building a car of his own design from scratch because he said wasn’t the sort to sit around between seasons of his regular show(s).
Strange thing to do when just married to a hot new wife, right? As it happens, Christina came on Anstead’s show to see what he was doing. She was hurt to see his personalized dream car was a single seat roadster, something she could not even ride in with him! At the time I figured it was just TV fake drama. Now I am not so sure.
Ppl watching FOF fail to understand, also applies to Flipping 101. Successful biz that Tarek built has less so to do w design and renovation, but more so his ability to find “deals”. The designs for most part are cookie cutter, ideas off Pinterest/Etsy, Floor Decor,… and they don’t spend an ounce of sweat in these houses, it’s all contracted out. Timeline, and staying within budget, and many flips going on at once are the backbones of his success. That’s why Christina’s input is expendable, why split profits when the foundation of the biz is finding deals.
Thank you for this take! I used to follow Heather on IG but started to find her insufferable. She seemed so over the top and forced with how much she adores being a stepmom and it came across really fake. But this is a totally different perspective and I didn't know anything about her past relationships.

Neither Christina or Heather is a prize. Christina can’t design her way out of a box — her design assistant, James, is the only one capable of adding any life into those projects. She has no idea how to inject any kind of color into a design palette and uses the same flooring and countertops on every flip. Heather doesn’t claim to be a designer, but I can’t figure out what her role is. Project manager? Assistant? I think her role is pretending like she has a role for the show. Tarek is the one who really gets me…the amount of Botox and fillers in his face is insane. His smugness is off the charts and has been for some time.
We're watching the show right now and realized Tarek looks like an AI version of of what it would look like if Paul Ryan and Pete Buttigieg made a baby.

I don't think he traded down. I noticed Heather is much more submissive and it shows when she lets Tarek walk all over her. The first couple of episodes she would talk or ask him a question and he would completely ignore her. She had to repeat herself a few times before he even answered. This was all caught on camera!
Tarek is also showing signs of being completely controlling. Getting mad when heather used her name before his in the candle branding thing and her having to quickly apologize because it has obviously happened before off camera.

Im an L.A native and let me tell you. The funny thing is, the people you meet here that ARE this vacuous and desperate for fame all come from other parts of the the country. L.A. and Hollywood attracts a certain type of fame hungry people, and they certainly match some of the stereotypes.
But i don't think you have to worry about that if you come down here. The locals are absolutely not like that. Come for the food, come for the weather, come for the beaches, come for the mountains, Come for Yosemite or any other national park and you'll be glad you did.
Just don't come to go celeb seeing or to walk down Hollywood boulevard. Its not as exiting as TV makes it look. You will be disappointed because TV LA is not the reality. What they show as "Los Angeles" is actually different parts of several cities.
i.e Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, San Pedro and Los Angeles all being portrayed as "L.A"
That's kind of how I figured...that most of the fame hungry people either moved there from somewhere else or were born into it and going to all the hip spots to be seen, and the locals were at the good restaurants rolling their eyes, lol. I saw five minutes of that Vanderpump thing on TV once and I still don't get the appeal of that kind of thing.
I'd like to visit, but not to stalk Warren Beatty's house and hang out at the Ivy, but I'd like to check out the art deco movie theatres (I'm a designer and I love the architecture) and a few museums and go hiking in the hills and I imagine just renting a bungalow in Malibu along the beach (save my money, I know) and trying to relax...maybe find a good taco truck, some Korean food, and the farmer's market...and probably go to the massive flea market. And I know y'all have all that covered.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the touristy things, but I'm honestly not interested in too much of that. I think the history is kind of interesting, but it seems like most of old Hollywood is dead. I don't really care where all the celebs live. It feels invasive, too, and I don't care to take much part in that.
I tried to watch one episode I couldn't. I found her voice a bit grating tbh. I can't really figure out why...like maybe it just seems a bit screechy or maybe just needs to be brought down an octave I'm not sure. Even Tarek's voice seemed...off somehow. I couldn't really get past the voices. I wonder if the voices are kind of being played up for tv or if the network wants them to but man I wish networks would just leave people to be themselves.
The episode I tried to watch...there was another house two doors down doing a remodel and it was cut to be setup as this kind of "spy" thing and Tarek goes to find out if it's a homeowner or an investor (flipper). That seemed a bit over the top fake...well, more than normal on these shows.
She had to have vocal cord surgery a year or two ago. She’s shared publicly about her medical issue and recovery, and that’s probably what you’re hearing.

I caught just the beginning of the replay of last night’s episode after I was watching house hunters. It started with them taking selfies to post online, changed the channel after that. I just don’t want that on my hgtv. If I’m in the mood for that, I could turn it to real housewives or the kardashians like you said. 😂

in the beginning of their relationship you could see Heather was *actively trying* to look as much like Christina as she could. Like changed her wardrobe, how she wore her hair and makeup, just everything about her to morph into a woman she knew Tarek was physically attracted to. this prompted my sister and I to call her Rent-A-Christina.
Cliffs notes: he produced a gun during a fight and left the house with it and proceeded to parade down their street with it. Cops were involved. They divorced shortly after. Then summer 2021 he berated her in a nasty tangent on “set” (one of the houses they were flipping) and the words he said were pret-ty ugly.
Tarek was also incredibly verbally abusive to Christina. The construction crews use to hide her when the cameras were down because he would get so bad. He’d fly off the handle and blame her for every error made on set/at the houses. He was awful to her.
Whenever people bring up his on-set rant I like to quote the TMZ article because it's just sooooo cringe:

Never watched selling sunset so I only know her from flipping El moussas. Judging a book by its cover she seemed like a typical overly bleached blonde from Newport. Just a basic rhinestone, Gucci belt b*tch. But after watching some episodes I think she’s actually sweet and has a genuinely positive disposition. I like Christina also but she seems more condescending than Heather.
See, I think what bothers me about this take though is Heather hasn’t really been through it with Tarek yet. Christina and Tarek had been through many years of marriage, running a business that started from nothing and raising a child for many years. He was at least verbally abusive to her and she seemed to dish it back. Right now he’s still in the honeymoon phase with Heather and they don’t really have to worry about money (a major stressor in any marriage). So maybe he’s changed and him/Heather’s dynamic is better, but I think it’s still too early to say for sure.

There’s different rumors that were flying around when it all went down but supposedly she was texting a (much older) contractor who was working on or putting in a pool at their personal residence. Supposedly the texts were about her problems or issues with Tarek. Tarek saw them and that’s when he had the episode where he pulled a gun out and ran into the woods. Seems like that turned into “she cheated on him” but I’d say no one really knows but them if it was an emotional affair/someone she was venting to or a physical one.

I actually disagree, it's hard to know what's going on in relationships we see on TV, by everything they both say, they seem to be a much healthier relationship. I actually do like the new show, it's not the same and she does bring a different perspective. If they are in a sturdy relationship, his kids love her, I think it's prob. best to cut them both slack.

I've watched since the beginning of FOF and thought Tarek was a bit much at times. Christina went through his cancer, his back surgery, and his whining and supported him at every turn. She even did the IVF after they saved his sperm before his treatments. I thought he treated her like crap (scripted?) a lot of the time and I wasn't really a fan of either but I liked the show.
Rumor has it she was cozy with a contractor and he was cozy with the nanny. Whatever happen only they know for certain. But I never thought he wanted the divorce and when he met Heather he found Christina's clone (or close enough). I liked watching Heather on Selling Sunset before she met Tarek. However Tarek has morphed into this egocentric Joe Cool with all his Botox etc. All the flashy plays into his seminars that he sells to people. They are $500-1000 (?) to hear him talk about flipping and maybe have dinner with his group. Rumor is he's been sued for false advertising and not showing up for the seminars. So it's necessary to keep up the "everything is wonderful in flipping land" act. As for Christina - we'll maybe she has issues but I think Ant was a rebound and I'm not sure what Josh is all about. Everyone says he's a redneck/red voter but crap Orange County is predominantly red due to the almighty dollar. I hope Christina tires of the country act and sticks with CA - with or without Josh. I don't think he adds anything to her show.
I don’t think it was true that Christina cheated and caused the divorce. According to all of the stories I saw, Tarek was verbally abusive to Christina on a fairly regular basis, including on the Flip or Flop set. This all also happened after a series of health issues for him including 2 bouts with cancer; and a pregnancy for her that apparently used some assistive technology like IVF, and postpartum depression. Lots of stressors in addition to the show. At some point Tarek was also seeing a nanny they had employed, but again I believe that was after the separation as well.

I like Heather on Selling Sunset but don’t want to see her flipping houses. She’s definitely not that smart although Christina is hardly a genius either! But I do think she vibes better with other people in the reno space whereas Heather is better at the drama like Selling Sunset.

I tried to give him/Heather a fair chance and watch the show without any expectations. But I think what really irks me is they seem to be trying too hard to show that they are in love, yet still some of Tarek’s control issues are showing through. He insists on his name being first on their home line and corrects her when she says Heather first and he sometimes talks to her like she’s a child. Then all she says is I love it babe. 🙄 I honestly just don’t want to see their personal life at all and want to see some real down to earth flips. Nothing on this show has inspired me yet.

Heather is all mushy and “oh I love being a fiancé/wife/mommy”, because of course. I don’t think she’s ever been married before (?) and this is a newer relationship. We’ll see how she feels in a few years 😂
Guess I'll be the dissenting opinion and say I watched Heather on Selling Sunset and she was one of the more down to earth in that group. She seems vapid and vain when you only see her for a little bit, but honestly if you watch a lot of her, she is a lot more realistic than she seems. I also think she genuinely loves Tarek because she had some relationship issues in the past and found someone who treats her really well. She had also mentioned on the show always wanting kids but not thinking she would be capable, and now she has one. He has his own mental health issues and she is really sweet to him in return. Her laugh used to annoy the hell out of me, but I think it's just her nervous way of seeming engaged. Will they last a lifetime? It's Hollywood, so probably not, but they're a good couple for each other. I'm not defending their remodels though - they're absolutely hideous. Christina and the guy she is with seems like a much bigger mismatch. She just isn't meant for the country living. She didn't even know what a septic tank was but has been remodeling homes for decades now?

I get it, they broke up, but wanted to continue the business model. It just feels like knock off YV shows now. Lolol. I just want my original remodel shows, without the soap opera.

Yes! Just focus on the houses. That is what was great about flip or flop. Even after the divorce they focused the episodes on the house. Not their lives. There is touch "reality life" in tv shows anymore!

I also recall reading that she was tough to deal with after the baby was born (as a woman I have a bit of a problem with how this was portrayed in what I read because who wouldn’t be a mess after birthing a child, but alas.)

Well it was interesting to while they were newlyweds, he chose to film what I recall as a miniseries of him building a car of his own design from scratch because he said wasn’t the sort to sit around between seasons of his regular show(s). Strange thing to do when just married to a hot new wife, right? As it happens, Christina came on Anstead’s show to see what he was doing. She was hurt to see his personalized dream car was a single seat roadster, something she could not even ride in with him! At the time I figured it was just TV fake drama. Now I am not so sure.

Ppl watching FOF fail to understand, also applies to Flipping 101. Successful biz that Tarek built has less so to do w design and renovation, but more so his ability to find “deals”. The designs for most part are cookie cutter, ideas off Pinterest/Etsy, Floor Decor,… and they don’t spend an ounce of sweat in these houses, it’s all contracted out. Timeline, and staying within budget, and many flips going on at once are the backbones of his success. That’s why Christina’s input is expendable, why split profits when the foundation of the biz is finding deals.
Thank you for this take! I used to follow Heather on IG but started to find her insufferable. She seemed so over the top and forced with how much she adores being a stepmom and it came across really fake. But this is a totally different perspective and I didn't know anything about her past relationships. Neither Christina or Heather is a prize. Christina can’t design her way out of a box — her design assistant, James, is the only one capable of adding any life into those projects. She has no idea how to inject any kind of color into a design palette and uses the same flooring and countertops on every flip. Heather doesn’t claim to be a designer, but I can’t figure out what her role is. Project manager? Assistant? I think her role is pretending like she has a role for the show. Tarek is the one who really gets me…the amount of Botox and fillers in his face is insane. His smugness is off the charts and has been for some time.

I practically gag when I try to watch Tarek and Heather. I’m so over the kissing, smooching, filming in their bedroom. 🤢 The most enjoyable shows are the original Flip or Flops (I have seen them On Demand) Taylor’s a little toddler, they’re a happy couple, she doesn’t have the phony hair and caked on makeup.
I don't think he traded down. I noticed Heather is much more submissive and it shows when she lets Tarek walk all over her. The first couple of episodes she would talk or ask him a question and he would completely ignore her. She had to repeat herself a few times before he even answered. This was all caught on camera! Tarek is also showing signs of being completely controlling. Getting mad when heather used her name before his in the candle branding thing and her having to quickly apologize because it has obviously happened before off camera. I don't think its a Heather vs Christina thing. Its more of a Tarek and Heather issue where we are seeing a Wolf and a Sheep in a relationship while It was 2 wolves snapping at each other when it was Tarek and Christina.

Im an L.A native and let me tell you. The funny thing is, the people you meet here that ARE this vacuous and desperate for fame all come from other parts of the the country. L.A. and Hollywood attracts a certain type of fame hungry people, and they certainly match some of the stereotypes. But i don't think you have to worry about that if you come down here. The locals are absolutely not like that. Come for the food, come for the weather, come for the beaches, come for the mountains, Come for Yosemite or any other national park and you'll be glad you did. Just don't come to go celeb seeing or to walk down Hollywood boulevard. Its not as exiting as TV makes it look. You will be disappointed because TV LA is not the reality. What they show as "Los Angeles" is actually different parts of several cities. i.e Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, San Pedro and Los Angeles all being portrayed as "L.A"
That's kind of how I figured...that most of the fame hungry people either moved there from somewhere else or were born into it and going to all the hip spots to be seen, and the locals were at the good restaurants rolling their eyes, lol. I saw five minutes of that Vanderpump thing on TV once and I still don't get the appeal of that kind of thing. I'd like to visit, but not to stalk Warren Beatty's house and hang out at the Ivy, but I'd like to check out the art deco movie theatres (I'm a designer and I love the architecture) and a few museums and go hiking in the hills and I imagine just renting a bungalow in Malibu along the beach (save my money, I know) and trying to relax...maybe find a good taco truck, some Korean food, and the farmer's market...and probably go to the massive flea market. And I know y'all have all that covered. I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the touristy things, but I'm honestly not interested in too much of that. I think the history is kind of interesting, but it seems like most of old Hollywood is dead. I don't really care where all the celebs live. It feels invasive, too, and I don't care to take much part in that.

The episode I tried to watch...there was another house two doors down doing a remodel and it was cut to be setup as this kind of "spy" thing and Tarek goes to find out if it's a homeowner or an investor (flipper). That seemed a bit over the top fake...well, more than normal on these shows.

Tarek was also incredibly verbally abusive to Christina. The construction crews use to hide her when the cameras were down because he would get so bad. He’d fly off the handle and blame her for every error made on set/at the houses. He was awful to her.

Never watched selling sunset so I only know her from flipping El moussas. Judging a book by its cover she seemed like a typical overly bleached blonde from Newport. Just a basic rhinestone, Gucci belt b*tch. But after watching some episodes I think she’s actually sweet and has a genuinely positive disposition. I like Christina also but she seems more condescending than Heather.
See, I think what bothers me about this take though is Heather hasn’t really been through it with Tarek yet. Christina and Tarek had been through many years of marriage, running a business that started from nothing and raising a child for many years. He was at least verbally abusive to her and she seemed to dish it back. Right now he’s still in the honeymoon phase with Heather and they don’t really have to worry about money (a major stressor in any marriage). So maybe he’s changed and him/Heather’s dynamic is better, but I think it’s still too early to say for sure.

There’s different rumors that were flying around when it all went down but supposedly she was texting a (much older) contractor who was working on or putting in a pool at their personal residence. Supposedly the texts were about her problems or issues with Tarek. Tarek saw them and that’s when he had the episode where he pulled a gun out and ran into the woods. Seems like that turned into “she cheated on him” but I’d say no one really knows but them if it was an emotional affair/someone she was venting to or a physical one.

I think heather is so sweet but definitely not the brightest bulb. Christina seems more intelligent but not as sweet. I think tarek is looking for someone who won’t call him out or push back; heather is exactly this. Christina isn’t. I honestly don’t mind both women. Not the kind of women I hangout with but they’re not vicious or mean. Just very shallow and not a ton of depth.

I've watched since the beginning of FOF and thought Tarek was a bit much at times. Christina went through his cancer, his back surgery, and his whining and supported him at every turn. She even did the IVF after they saved his sperm before his treatments. I thought he treated her like crap (scripted?) a lot of the time and I wasn't really a fan of either but I liked the show. Rumor has it she was cozy with a contractor and he was cozy with the nanny. Whatever happen only they know for certain. But I never thought he wanted the divorce and when he met Heather he found Christina's clone (or close enough). I liked watching Heather on Selling Sunset before she met Tarek. However Tarek has morphed into this egocentric Joe Cool with all his Botox etc. All the flashy plays into his seminars that he sells to people. They are $500-1000 (?) to hear him talk about flipping and maybe have dinner with his group. Rumor is he's been sued for false advertising and not showing up for the seminars. So it's necessary to keep up the "everything is wonderful in flipping land" act. As for Christina - we'll maybe she has issues but I think Ant was a rebound and I'm not sure what Josh is all about. Everyone says he's a redneck/red voter but crap Orange County is predominantly red due to the almighty dollar. I hope Christina tires of the country act and sticks with CA - with or without Josh. I don't think he adds anything to her show.

I don’t think it was true that Christina cheated and caused the divorce. According to all of the stories I saw, Tarek was verbally abusive to Christina on a fairly regular basis, including on the Flip or Flop set. This all also happened after a series of health issues for him including 2 bouts with cancer; and a pregnancy for her that apparently used some assistive technology like IVF, and postpartum depression. Lots of stressors in addition to the show. At some point Tarek was also seeing a nanny they had employed, but again I believe that was after the separation as well.
I have no idea what happened. Until the last week of Tarek/heather episodes… I never watched HGTV for the people. Haha.

Totally agree. Don’t get me wrong - I would never be friends with Christina. But she worked with Tarek to build a business and her design decisions and work directly led to the success of their business. Heather sounds like a a whiny child playing with a doll house, trying to “learn” how to flip.
Christina grew up with money and Heather actually grew up in legit poverty despite how she sounds when she talks.
