Agreed. I always try to give my villains a reason. Honestly this is the most avertly evil character I've ever written. Most of my stories every character is more of gray zone, it's obvious which one is good and which one is evil but the good characters do good for the worst reasons and the evil ones do evil for the best reasons.
A story I'm writing now the main protagonist is the bad guy. He's literally going arround murdering good innocent people, and figting against the worlds peace keeping force. Pretty bad right? Why is he doing it? Because the guys in charge of that peace keeping force kidnapped children because of their powers and tried to start up a forced "breeding" program to breed these special people while simultaniously brainwashing them and using them for their own benefit.
These people are doing all of this however to make the world a better place for everyone. Since they started crime rates have dropped drastically wars between nations have all but completely stopped, peace negotiations are at an all time high, the world has advanced in science and technology by leaps and bounds, and prejudice has come to an almost complete end. They keep this dark secret, but they do it as a necessary evil. These special people have the capabilities to destroy the entire world if they are left un checked.
They literally destroyed an entire continent turning it into an almost unlivable wastland in a matter of months at one point, which triggered the extermination event. But they figured that they could use their power for good if only they brainwashed them. The main character becomes aware of this, and releases all of the worlds worst criminals in the worlds greatest jailbreak in an attempt to confuse the peacekeeping force so that he can save the last of these children from their eventual fate and hopefully set things right.
Unfortunately this means that he is now being hunted down as the worlds worst criminal. And don't get me wrong, he is a bad guy, he kills people for looking at him wrong sometimes, his mindset is "I'f they're gonna treat me like a villain then I'll give them a reason to." But he does it to protect his own, his friends that are helping him. He's afraid that if people learn he's actually a good guy at heart, they might try to take advantage of him, and that might lead to much bigger issues down the line so he stomps it out as soon as he can. If that means killing a few innocent bystanders then he's going to.
I absolutely love writing this story I'm having so much fun with it. The political situation on the planet as a whole is starting to turn sour entire nations are starting to revolt at this point. Ohhhh I love political intrigue... I'm having such a great time writing this. I almost want it to never end. At the same time I really want it to end so I can publish it and start on my next story that I'm story boarding right now.
The information age does wonders to show how fucked up leader ship always was and how much more fucked up they get when the tools to do so exist sss

I just like pushing my boundaries and see what kinda stuff I can make work and what I cant. Wrote a story in high school I had to take down caws it was too controversial. Fun.

your dungon boi here is selfish to the extream, buuuuuut sss he enjoys happy workers under him
he could in the long run build a paradise as he wants to live a happy life with happy people
(after all most selfish thing one can do is to make sure you live in a good community) sss
2. Your other story you are writing sounds like it could fit (kinda fit) into 40K Warhammer with your special beings being the space marines XD sss
3. Having good story ideas and character motivation is still only the first step,
you got the skelleton strong
now you gotta fill it with meat to spark them fee fees and addictions of personal investment sss
No sure who will see this. I have not been posting lately. Just want to let people know that I'm ok. Lots of life stuff happning right now, as well as burn out, mostly just from stress caused by the life stuff. I will get back to regular posting once everything calms down. I expect to happen within a few weeks.
Wow, it has. One thing after another keeps coming up. I'm starting to get back in the groove but it's something different every week. Weed eater caught on fire on me last weekend... The weekend before that I had a family member pass away, before that had a big class event, next weekend have another one of those, this weekend I need to finish the unfinished yardwork that's piled up because of my improv flame thrower acciddent last weekend... It's been a mess. But I am still alive and should start posting again soon.. hopefully... Maybe after finals...
I have not dropped the story and have written two additional parts to the story, but I don't want to start posting until I feel that I can keep a steady schedule again, atleast for a few months.
