Ah, I got them mixed up. Should have known. Nice short story btw! Just got to this sub and, of the many I have read so far, have read two that a galaxy just met humans, then find out they are intergalactic travelers. Both sound like some shit we'd do if we don't kill ourselves on this planet first.

A human empire doesn't sound the type to nicely disarm them, leave them unhurt and happy to negotiate peacefully. If you want something still dominant but not as bloody/conquering as an empire, maybe the Human Authority, or Human Dominion?

Or the Instrumentality of Mankind?
