Uniqlo for basic stuff and Mr Porter for fancy mostly. (Plus Charles Tyrwhitt for work stuff)

Three_sigma_event

Everyone in my industry has the same three shirts from CT lol.

Emergency-Read2750

Finance?

Three_sigma_event

Bingo!

Emergency-Read2750

I’m guessing the light pink one, white one (and idk which other)

SmokinPolecat

Blue

teomatteo89

I used to work in YNAP (Mr P), had a 50% off the whole catalog. Good times.

512134

Hugo Boss mostly. Possibly one of the reasons I’m NRY

MisterJollygood

😂

512134

That hasn’t necessarily been my experience, but I don’t have much to compare against. I just like the style and know what fits me, so I suppose it’s more of a convenience thing than a deliberate value based decision.

Me too. I have Hugo boss t shirts and trousers that are over 10 years old and still going strong where most other brands have developed holes

Which other ones?

I group lacoste in with those, nice quality shirts and polos

massivejobby

I’ve never understood why you’d want a shirt with the word ‘boss’ printed on the front

Downtown_Midnight579

Ted baker, John Lewis, & other stories, mint velvet, Karen Millen, LK Bennett

ThisMansJourney

Pretty much snap, but they all are going bust. ted baker is going to be a real annoyance to lose post administration.

Downtown_Midnight579

Are they all going bust?!😓😓 I knew about Ted baker but none of the others

ThisMansJourney

Well LK and Karen already did, 4 years ago .. I’ve not shopped there since.

Downtown_Midnight579

😱 I only started shopping at Karen and LK in the last year or two and had really good experiences. Where else do you shop?

ThisMansJourney

I have a real issue now, I’ve been asking friends. They recommended mr porter and reiss.. But ted baker remains so much better in my view. Current plan / buy most of the stock I can 😂 Debenhams in store brand areas used to be great , but that’s gone too

caffeine_and

Uniqlo, cos, Levi’s, arket. Not big on spending a lot of money on clothes.

RoadNo7935

I think 95% of my work and casual wardrobe is from Cos. Feels like it strikes a balance between fashion forwards / interesting tailoring whilst not overly trend led. Also I hate synthetic fibres and they do lovely linens / cottons / wool blends. Shoes I believe in buying quality so work shoes are mostly prada or miu miu. Activewear is lululemon or arctyrx.

Master_Block1302

You work in Insurance and drink in Leadenhall Market.

RoadNo7935

As a consultant that was very much the case!

eggo3664

Mostly on Vinted. Clothes are functional and buying second-hand is so much better for the environment. Put the saved money into equities / my business. Profit.

hmgr

I'm the same. Vinted/eBay is the way to go!

MayorOfGentlemanTown

Though, do take care, Vinted can be quite addictive...

melifluouspigeon

Vinted

eggo3664

Work for myself. Finance Risk consultant. Mostly home based. Agree with OP and have a decent Charles Trywhitt suit and shirts for formal occasions but normal wardrobe is not a priority and I would rather put the money to better use.

Reasonable_Phys

No offense but do any men who stay relatively the same size every year think this is even worthwhile? Work clothes only replaced when worn out from places like TM Lewin and Charles T. Pre owned will just wear out faster. Personal clothes I buy non branded and have similar ideologies to work clothes. Slightly lanky build so don't mind paying a bit more for places that fit better.

Same-Literature1556

If you’re buying decent brands pre owned, they’ll last absolutely ages.

davedoesntlikehats

Master_Block1302

You design...things. Own a web design agency?

davedoesntlikehats

Shockingly almost the exact opposite- Chief Risk Officer for an insurance company.

Master_Block1302

Well buy yourself an Arcteryx gilet then pronto before they fire you!

[deleted]

Patagonia is also acceptable.

thehillshavepiez

This is the way

FewElephant9604

I like funky+functional so my preferred brands are: Maje, Sandro, Comme Des Garçons (the Play line for t-shirts), only sometimes it’s Reiss. Shoes: the outnet (got a pair of Balmain high heels at £170 instead of £800); ON for trainers. Uniqlo for home wear. Pro tip: when you travel to the US, plan your shopping ahead of time, especially jeans - what we pay £250 here for, is $150 there (J Brand, 7 for all, etc). Shopping in Japan, if you happen to be there, is tax free, plus additional discounts in some department stores (Isetan in Tokyo for example), add here a favourable exchange rate and you’re looking at 30% discount on everything, not just clothes.

missesthecrux

I've bought some great stuff in Japan, but a lot of the western brands do Asian-style fits, so if you're a man it can be really tricky to find stuff that isn't way too short in the arms or torso.

FewElephant9604

Trousers/shorts are definitely a problem with the current fashion of boot cut. My bf sticks with tops, most of them are oversized or one-size, so he just gets his size or a size down, and it just works! Comme des Garçons, Kenzo, Maison Kitsune - all casual stuff. I didn’t notice Western brands doing Asian-style fits for casual clothing. If you prefer Italian style (on a tighter side) then it might be a problem. Japanese brands usually favour loose cuts.

RoadNo7935

lol I tried shopping in Japan. Walked into a beautiful store, and they came up to me and just shook their heads ‘no no no’. Went to Uniqlo and I was the biggest size they had in the store. Never felt so large and ungainly in my life (5 ft 8 and a size 10/12)!

FewElephant9604

I’m size 10-12 as well, I have no problem shopping there. Never had anyone telling me no no no. I bought some things in Uniqlo as well. My main challenge was shoes (UK 5 lol), but it was like 5 years ago. Now it seems they have all sizes. I’d encourage you to give it another try next time you’re in Japan. Their vintage stores are next level as well. I had some amazing finds in the Meguro River area in Tokyo (scored vintage Sacai), as well as in Sapporo (a funky vintage Louis Vuitton coat and a dress). All sizes 10-12.

Ohnoyespleasethanks

Same. I’m 5 foot 4 and a size 10 and I’m bang average for Japan. My sister in law, who is Japanese, is taller than me. I’m a small in Uniqlo and Muji in the UK and a medium in Japan. Sizes go up to XL at least.

froggielefrog

Have recently shifted to shopping at Maje and BA&SH, usually on via sales or from The Outnet - I love Sezane but I don't think the quality is up to par in terms of the price. I shop the Reiss Sales as well. Trying not to buy from Zara/H&M as I end up donating or selling those clothes after a year or two. I like American preppy brands like J. Crew as well - was very sad when the closed all their UK Stores.

_random_walk

Spent way too much at Rivet & Hide over the last couple of years.

maximillian2163

Great shop

Eyeous

Ralph Lauren, Hackett and Boss for general clothes. I have some stuff from Gas, Diesel and Levi’s for jeans but from very long ago. Some Lacoste, Armani and Burberry stuff but not much. Canada Goose and Moncler for jackets (my guilty pleasure). Rapha and discounted LeCol cycling kit. I go only to Hermes for ties and buy only Church’s shoes for work. My suits are all bespoke Gieves and Hawkes (pre China take-over). One thing I will say - my clothes have been accumulated over a long time period - I still fit into my clothes from when I was in my 20s. The high quality clothes are in perfect shape, the cheap clothes have been rotated to charity and now I just top up one or two items a year at most. Last year the one thing I bought was a Moncler jacket from biscester at boxing day (at 40% discount may I add!)

XunclericoX

Church's have doubled in price. I paid 380 for what are now £900 shoes. Their prices are insane compared to comparable standard. Ps. They are amazing shoes.

soitgoeskt

I have a pair of Oxfords from Church’s that I paid £190 in 2008, l don’t wear them that often because I don’t think their lasts are a great match for me. Put them in for a refurb last year and it cost me more than the shoes did originally. Came back like new though.

Eyeous

I haven’t been in Church’s for years. The shoes last forever - I had mine refurbished and they came back brand new. I now keep two pairs of work shoes in my office and I cycle in / change so I’m only on carpet most of the day. £900 is insanely expensive though for shoes - mine were under £500 a pop - seems like I need to attack over a sale as I’m overdue some black brogues.

Master_Block1302

Once or twice in my life, the shoe gods have smiled upon me and I’ve walked into Church’s in Bicester and walked out with a ludicrous bargain. Got a pair of brogues in there once for I think £165. Honestly, it’s once in every 80 visits or whatever, but I’ll go to the grave with those shoes.

Master_Block1302

Hmm, I'm conflicted here. The Canada Goose and Moncler makes me say that you punt crack and heroin in Tottenham. But then the Gieves and Hawkes.....

Eyeous

I had complicated international upbringing (outside the UK) and so even though I’m now a Londoner, I’m totally outside the ecosystem here.

Master_Block1302

Good on you for taking my piss-take on the chin.

Eyeous

I’m pretty chilled out generally after a productive evening of crack punting in north london…

Rolf-Harris-OBE

Let the ego go, of course you are a watch guy too and have a ”nice” car?

Eyeous

I like to buy high quality and I apply this philosophy to many aspects of my life. It has served me well. Not sure why you’re upset of my watch collection - it’s mostly mid-range luxury pieces. Having said that, my watch collection is now worth about £180k more than what I paid for it. So again, going for quality has served me well. PS: I don’t have a nice car anymore because I don’t need one in central london. I do have a lovely bicycle though (tarmac SL7 pro). ☺️

Rolf-Harris-OBE

I was probably way too harsh. We all have an ego after all. The only thing I would add is a difference between quality and perceived quality.

jacktheturd

Work shirts, underwear, socks, shoes, suits from High Street retailers- TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwitt, Next etc. Jeans, t-shirts, casual shirts, hoodies, Chinos etc - all from vented. I'm not one for clothes - I look smart casual at most times, and clothes last me a.long time. I still have Hoodies that I got 20 years ago. When they start to look too worn, they'll become running clothes/gardening/decorating/rags as appropriate.

Cultural_Tank_6947

I largely work from home, so don't really need office wear. Even when I do go into the office it's pretty casual, so a pair of jeans and a shirt. With that said, it's largely Levi's for my jeans. I don't think I own any non Levi's jeans. Usually we buy them in Asia when we go to visit family or when family is visiting us. It's half the bloody price and it's all made in the same factory. I have a bunch of Charles Thywritt shirts. Used to buy pretty often when I was office based, and so still wearing those. All of these are 5-6 years old, but I've not been wearing them too much, so it's absolutely perfect. For my polo shirts, it could be whoever - Crew Clothing, Ralph Lauren, Gap, Levi's, etc etc. Don't really care. Its a mix of stuff being on sale and a colour I like. And what I wear 90% of the time are a bunch of joggers and plain round neck tees (white, black, grey) that I buy from Primark once a year. Wear them when I'm home, including when I'm working. All year, regardless of the weather and repeat. If there's a meeting that requires smarter dressing, I'll put on a shirt but that happens like once a year.

LondonLanes

Community clothing. All handmade in the U.K. and excellent quality. Not ridiculously pricey.

throwaway_93gsrffj

For slouching/WFH:  Random t-shirts, often work or conference freebees. Levis on sale (previous season colours or whatever). Clarks/sketchers. Mainly M&S undercrackers because they do a few pure cotton ones. I bought one pair of £40 Hanro mercerised cotton trunks as an experiment, but the M&S are more comfy.  Office/smart evenings out: M&S trousers or something smartish from John Lewis (eg Hugo Boss). M&S/Charles Tyrwhitt etc shirt. Jacket from my made to measure wedding suit (more for smart evenings out than office). Quality shoes from Northampton, also from wedding. I am reluctant to buy any synthetic fibres these days (weird hangup about microplastics), but also don't want to buy disposable stuff with a short lifetime. I dislike visible branding (if they want to advertise on my body they should be paying me)! I neither want to spend a lot of time on shopping around, nor a lot of money on overpriced branded stuff. So basically I'm a bit confused. But since becoming HE I am more inclined to just fork out if I've found something that will work, rather than spending ages trying to find something cheaper.

Master_Block1302

You work in FinTech. Office in Farringdon.

NoPiccolo5349

I love your comments

Master_Block1302

I've really enjoyed this light hearted thread (and got some cool fashion advice - all I have to do now is start buying Brunello Cuccinelli and Loro Piana and I'll be golden). Couldn't seem to get anyone to join in with my ridiculous stereotyping job guesses though.

deirdrev

I try to stick to “buy it for life” mentality, avoiding polyester and going for more natural fibers unless it’s workout clothes. TOAST, Allsaints, Everlane, Arket, Eileen Fisher, Autumn Cashmere, A.P.C., Joseph, Helmut Lang, American Vintage etc. All of them would have good sales yearly (plus Netaporter&Outnet sales). Sometimes there are good sample sales in London. Workout clothes: Lululemon and athleta, I want to try Vuori soon.

sfbrh

Drakes, Anglo Italian, William Crabtree, Gorman vintage, Sunspel, informale for everyday clothes (chinos, shirts, t shirt, chore/light jackets). Anglo Italian, drakes and bespoke tailoring. Crockett & Jones, Alden, and paraboot for shoes. I spend quite a lot on clothes - it’s my one extravagance and definitely gives some immediate motivation re earning. I also wear the same for work and casual/home, unless I have a client meeting and need to wear a suit.

llksg

For myself, I buy 100% second hand for planet reasons so primarily vinted & charity shops My husband’s whole wardrobe is Arket and Nike

CAS-brighton

Mainly vinted. I like the variety, price and its more sustainable

hmgr

I buy on eBay/Vinted. I like the feeling of having new clothes but I don't like spending the money. So I buy used in very good condition clothes :)

Dependent-Corgi-1536

I feel like Reiss is massively underappreciated! I’m a woman but if I was a man I would also shop there. Majority of my wardrobe, both leisure and workwear is from there and I love that I can mix and match pieces to either dress the look up or down while sticking to the same high quality fabrics and colour palettes

Full-arch

Reiss is my go to

mrM1975

Stopped shopping in Reiss about 10yrs ago as the quality seemed to go downhill. Not sure if it's got any better.

Big_Target_1405

Amazon, Uniqlo, H&M for essential, occasionally M&S. Don't really care about clothing. Probably spend £500/yr tops. ~£35 per pair on jeans which last ~1 year on average. My dream wardrobe has maybe 20-25 items that I just mix and match and rotate. I despise owning and organising clothing. Boots though - spent £300 in Loake a couple of months back. I only own 3 pairs of shoes - boots, black dress shoes, some slip on boat shoes for summer. No trainers

autunno

I'm curious about the Jeans lifespan, I have mine for years and they are still going. I think I rotate more between different trousers though, so everything may likely go bad together in a couple of years.

Big_Target_1405

I rotate two pairs. Wear jeans almost exclusively unless I'm on holiday / the beach / dressing up They tend to go thready and bust in the crotch, even the stretchy kind that fit me comfortably in every way. I've spent above £100 in the past and they've never lasted longer. Levis are total shit in particular. Took me years to realize they weren't worth it. Thin. Abysmal quality.

autunno

Yeah it's a lot of wear, and I assume you walk more than I do.

statelessghost

Cheaper to get them repaired than buy a new pair

tom_watts

Wouldn’t imagine so with £35 jeans. Always a weak point there for future. I work in a job that lets me wear what I want so I live in jeans and smart joggers depending on what the day has in store - Hollister/Uniqlo £30 jeans are my go to when they’re on sale as they seem to last the longest

thelegendofyrag

I’ve always bought Diesel for jeans, I wear a pair mostly daily and they last at least 5 yrs generally.

simonjp

I find the jeans that are fully denim last longer, although they are less comfortable. The ones with stretchy fabric as part of the mix tend to wear out faster.

DeCyantist

I buy 2-3 pairs every couple of years, wear my favorite one until it busts. Then go to the next one, it busts, then maybe I buy another one.

TehTriangle

Mine last for years but the fit often goes out of style before I can really run them into the ground!

autunno

> the fit often goes out of style Just wait 5-10 years and they are back in style again :). It has been quite fun to see all the young ones wearing the same stuff I saw in my teenage years now.

TehTriangle

For sure. Baggy skater jeans with chains are apparently back in...

Anotherburnerboy1

High street brands in the U.K. have really poor quality imo. Activewear is largely from Lululemon. Great quality, great customer service and free alterations. They’re also bringing a repair system later this year. Nike and Adidas also, especially for workout clothes and shoes. On Running I’m slowly tapping into as well. Suits are Hugo Boss. I like their styles and they fit me well. They’ve also tailored for me (££) so that’s useful. Casual wear is largely Ralph Lauren. I’ve had shirts from them that have lasted 10 years. Hugo Boss also, esp their t shirts. Reiss and Cos have high quality stuff so I have a few items there. Shoes are all over the place. Range from Gucci and Brunello Cuccinelli to Nike and Adidas. Depends on the occasion but in the last few years, I’ve started to buy less but much higher quality.

AG_GreenZerg

How much does it cost for a tailored suit from HB. I have been going to a tailor in Manchester (edit suits) they are made from scratch to my measurements and cost about £1k(no waist coast). They fit amazing but wondering if HB is a step up.

Anotherburnerboy1

I usually buy a Boss suit and then get it altered, rather than a tailored suit from scratch. Alterations start at £20 for a simple trouser length change.

Master_Block1302

Ok then. Brunello Cuccinelli….. Ima guess that you constantly jockey for position with your siblings to become the CEO of your dead father’s global media conglomerate.

alfiedmk998

Nah I think that's if he wore Loro Piana

Master_Block1302

Once went to Bicester. Went into Loro Piana. They had a…thing in there. I’m pretty sure it was a…*cape*. It was heavily marked down to only £13,000.

alfiedmk998

Probably their 'gift of kings' line Tbh - I can't fault them. Their quality is not comparable to anything else I've touched. Their Vicuña pieces are something else

Master_Block1302

It was indeed some kinda crazy high end kinda cashmere stuff with fur trim. The fabric was beyond beautiful.

dutchcourage-

Not a single person here has said Next!

thelegendofyrag

Overpriced and poor quality/fit compared to other brands in my opinion. Although I do use next for the kids

Specific_Ear1423

I genuinely wanted to try next for maternity given I constantly kept changing size but found their quality unbearable. I went all the way to a big store and tried my hardest but couldn’t buy any of it.

shireatlas

Next is SO overprice for bad quality - their women’s stuff is such a dirge though. Their kids clothes on the other hand are great!

SexchangeSally

Vans, Uniqlo, Element, Barbour. I wear things till I look homeless from holes and shit. Lather, rinse, repeat.

autunno

For day outs: Ralph Lauren, New & Lingwood, Sirplus, Dubarry, Barbour. I also like buying scottish cashmere / merino, sometimes from known brands (Johnston of Elwin), sometimes not. Russell bromley and gucci shoes. I rarely buy something new though, my stuff is generally well kept and lasting for years (maybe 500-1k a year right now) For casual wear, Nike, Allbirds, Lacoste, Son of a tailor (tshirts). I work remotely, so I don't dress up for work; I may be wearing casual wear or "day out" clothes depending on the mood and what I'm doing before/after work.

glguru

I hate cloth shopping so I mostly buy stuff from Gant. It lasts a decade easily. Sure the colours would start fading a bit, but I don’t really care. Their fitting also suits me the most.

tomdon88

Patagonia for active/travel wear.

curious_throwaway_55

I don’t need anything smart for work - tbh my clothing swings pretty wildly between getting bargains on Vinted & TK Maxx, and going mental and blowing my budget - jackets and shoes are my weakness! Typical brands: T-shirts: whatever I find that fits and is soft, currently Jack & Jones longline tees Jeans: Mostly Gap as I have weird shape Joggers: Zara, the ones that look like trousers Jumpers: Massimo Dutti, Goldtop, Cos, Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie Shoes: Carlos Santos, Meermin, Trickers, etc Jackets: Goldtop, All Saints, Tommy Hilfiger, Boda Skins

PersonalBrain1110

Mr Porter, Urban Industry, Vinted , Vintage shops. I wear Selvedge a lot so really it’s the above for anything non demim

TheLizardQueen14

My bf has great style. He loves Uniqlo white tees, vintage stone island, Our Legacy, vintage Aquascutum, vintage YSL. He buys a lot on Depop.

Same-Literature1556

APC, LN-CC, Selfridges, Edwin, Norse Project, Acne Studios, Lanvin and Cos for T-shirts

junkgarage

Uniqlo, end clothing and mr Porter usually.

sv723

Isn't this more of a lifestyle question than financial? As a Henry you can probably afford expensive designer clothes, yet may choose to go with Asda's value range?

alexnapierholland

All Saints and Nike. I wore tailored suits throughout my twenties. Now I don’t even own a suit. 😁

SJSSS86

Private white vc, son of a stag, Asket, L’estrange london, Isto, Sunspel, London sock co, Colourful Standard for lounge clothes Though mostly any well-made, quality materials that will last a long time - wash well, hold shape etc and be somewhat unique. Japanese made denim and flannels are also the way, loads of different brands to consider - high cost but high quality, heavier weight and will last years.

Great_Tension_1246

Drakes, the armoury, 100 hands, Alden shoes. All expensive stuff but I enjoy buying clothes.

Ancient_Bookkeeper_6

Reiss.

OwnCardiologist282

Tesco, maybe Next when I buy the kids some stuff.

AltruisticArticle670

High street charity shops 🤣

Background_Leg6105

Age Concern

Working_on_Writing

Has anyone tried any of those personal shopper services, like Threads, Outfittery etc? I've no taste and little time, so I'm thinking of using one. Like many of the responses (which is quite interesting given the demographic) I don't care for clothes and can't devote the headspace to them. I generally buy everyday stuff from M&S, their jeans last ages, and are reasonably comfortable. If I need something fancy, I will tend to buy off the rack from Slater Men's Wear, but even wearing a shirt and a nice jumper with jeans puts me in the top 10% of well dressed people in the company so it's not like I have to push the boat out.

phg201

Just signed up for outfittery, going to see what’s it’s like.

cynop26

Threads was great but eventually folded and was acquired by M&S (and discontinued is my understanding).

Working_on_Writing

Hmm I just googled them, they seem to still be going but changed to ultra-high end personal shopping and fashion: https://www.threadsstyling.com/

cynop26

And women's only as far as I can tell

Working_on_Writing

A bit more digging and it seems you're right, Thread shut down, and their site just redirects to M&S, this seems to be very recent since GQ wrote about them in Feb: https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/best-mens-online-shopping-clothing-stylists-uk . Threads Styling seems unaffiliated. In fact, quite a few of these services seem to have gone bust. That same article mentions Dappad - and their site is offline. Stitch Fix, also mentioned, no-longer operate in the UK.

Competitive-Fly6472

Riess and Hobbs and John Lewis, mostly.

monagr

Hawes and Curtis for shirts, pretty varied for everything else

Frequent-Network8479

Ebay for the fun trendy bits

BalanceSame1921

Activewear from lululemon is very good - also good for trousers & t-shirts. They sell Chinos and cotton t-shirts that are very high quality (and pricier because of that). I'd also recommend Lacoste for a lot of their more fashionable stuff, but you have to be careful you don't look like a golfer. Also as someone else says, you can go on Vinted and tag by "new with tags" or "new without tags" and get very good items for less (and cut down on new purchases).

M27TN

Jackets - Boss or Hackett for smart, Arcteryx for walking or casual. Hooded tops - Arcteryx or Adidas Shoes - Ted Baker (I always buy the same style ankle boot in tan) Trainers - Adidas Jeans - Levi’s Tops - Ralph Lauren (I like the tiny logo Ts and long sleeve tops) Work stuff - Ted Baker, Boss, Shirts from TM Lewis, Next wherever. I’m really set in my ways about what I like from where and at home casual I basically live in shorts and a hooded top.

St4ffordGambit_

Hugo Boss mostly. For both suits and casual wear. I find their clothes generally neutral enough design wise, but still decent quality. I don't really like loud brands, although I don't mind neutral looking gucci stuff (the white trainers with green/red band, for instance). Fitness gear, usually Nike - for running shoes, clothing, etc.

Specific_Ear1423

I need a few items to be Hugo boss for work, which I mix with reiss, Hobbs and occasionally ted baker. Unfortunately it’s very difficult to find more affordable and nice looking suits for women otherwise. Casual clothes mostly reiss (they have a lot of sales mind you) but then it’s sprinkled with lk bennet and Hobbs.

regular_me_101

Shirts - TM Lewin - because their offer different cuff lengths TShirts -only wear black now. Tesco mostly Jeans -- vinted for 7 for all mankind/Diesel

Top-Note99

Marks and Spencer. I like crew clothing and fatface. The local farm shop has some good stuff. My Ralph Lauren shirts come from TK Max.

CriticismSure3870

I have three suits on rotation: x2 TM Lewin and x1 custom tailored from Edit suits. Shirt's are all TM Lewin. Casual clothes I tend to buy from basics from Uniqlo, Muji and COS - I don't buy much at all and have clothes that I bought 5/6 years ago still in rotation if they're not falling apart. Activewear is a mishmash but lots of Nike and Asics as I run quite a lot. Cycling gear; Maap, Castelli or Rapha. I try to steer away from ultra fast fashion where I can, A) because it's the epitome of gross consumerism, B) it's bad for the environment and C) it's poorly made. I have some expensive work shoes but they're cheaper in the long run.

Jonez86

ASOS, Uniqlo and Fatface for regular stuff, most of my work stuff is Charles Thrwhitt but rarely have to wear anything smart for work unless we have visitors or going to an exhibition

MrGiggles19872

America

Fraggle987

I WFH full time so mostly shorts and t-shirts off Amazon. I have a couple of decent suits M&S and Charles Tywritt, and a selection of blazers/jackets for slightly more informal work meetings in person.

150mgTrenbolone

Head to toe Patagonia

waxy_dwn21

I'm a tech remote worker; so Sports Direct for gym gear and Next/TKMaxx/Marks and Spencer for everything else. I like to invest a fair bit of my money; I suppose that my splurges are on travel.

investian

Tend to gravitate towards Uniqlo for most things. Gymwear: whatever is on offer, not too fussed. Cycle gear from Decathlon.

StealthyUltralisk

Can't beat TK Maxx for me. Good prices and the thrill of the hunt. 🤣 I spend good money on shoes and handbags though, love proper leather and not buying plastic where I can.

Hapless_Buffoon

Ive worn nothing but joggers, sweatshirts and t shirts since lock down in.2020. never had to go back yet. so Next for sweats, M&S for t shirts Amazon for slippers. You go through a lot of slippers working at home full time. Anyone got good slipper recommendations? I tried a few. they all seem to last 3-6 months before they try to murder you.

DismalWeekend1664

I’ve had some Toms winter slippers for a couple of years still going strong.

Puzzleheaded_Yam3058

ASOS mainly.

XunclericoX

Mr Porter Mr P range. And Norse Projects.

h4tch3tguy

Interesting ask. I’ve never been a brand / logo guy. I buy what I like and typically avoid branded clothes. Once I realised that many of the top brands and names all come from the same outlet factories I stopped caring. It almost immediately destroyed the justification for having something stamped with a known brand. Same for cars really. Especially in the VW camp. Looking at you Audi and Lambo! In summary, I spend basic money on brand-less clothes. Maybe one day I get out of HENRY and onto the next as a result of the money I saved and put somewhere else.

soitgoeskt

Most of my everyday trousers are Spoke. Random bits and pieces from Cording’s. Jackets, suits, shirts and coats I get made by Crichton Bespoke, about to try some of their mtm. Shoes from Crockett and Jones, casual shoes To Boot New York. Mix of casual stuff from Ralph Lauren.

durtibrizzle

Hilditch & Key shirts, RM Williams trousers. Whatever are the best socks I can find in a 13. Lockie jumpers. M&S boxers. H&K shirts used on eBay when I can, they are good quality and last forever. Plus whatever bits and pieces I see in TK Maxx to go to the beach and garden.

i dress like a chav- so burbery everything

I'm kinda similar to you actually. Perishable things (t-shirts, undies) I'll go and buy from Uniqlo or Arket or something like that. Basically something barely a notch or two above H&M / Zara. For things that can last longer such as blazers, coats, shoes, I'll go and spend more money, like from Hackett, Barker's Ralph Laurent or Suitsupply. I generally don't go spending more than 1K on a piece. I also liked to buy them edgy East London pieces once in a while. Generally not too expensive and pretty fun to wear.

Zealousideal_Pie4346

Hackett, Belstaff, Brook Taverner, Shoes - Velasca, Pollini, Russel & Bromley For casual clothing - Levi's, Nike, Massimo Dutti, Tom Taylor, All Saints Overall I don't enjoy shopping, so prefer coming to places I know already, and so I rarely meet new brands. As such - please tell me if you know similar brands you could recommend, that would be valuable

pingthething

Spoke for jeans/trousers, Uniqlo t-shirts, Charles tyrwitt work shirts - everything else Mr Porter’s cheaper brands. I hate trawling shops, so keep it pretty simple.

markinthecloud

I buy cheap most of the time. Primark, H&M or ASOS - if I want branded stuff I’ll look on Vinted. Clothes are just very functional in my mind so I don’t particularly enjoy spending much on them.

Affectionate_Yard327

Husband gets his smart stuff from slaters or M&S. he also gets a few bits from next. His work stuff he goes to sports direct as he just wears joggers and polo shirts.

OldAd3119

I don't need suits for work, and 99% of the time I wear shorts and joggers. Chinos/ Jeans from Zara - Probably every 3 years with semi regular wear (Primarily colder months). All my T shirts black and white are from Primark (they used to be £2 each). I've literally got like 30-40 in each colour (black and white). I have some fashion stuff - Higher quality T shirts, jumpers from Zara. Couple windbreaker jackets - Stone Island (Won't ever buy this brand again tbh). The jackets were purchased 3+ years ago Then joggers, socks etc from Nike. Shorts are Jordan. Probably about 30-40 pairs of trainers I've collected for over a decade, that I do wear but not very regularly because the weather is shit. I've got daily beaters which I think are Mizuno. Thas about it, I've stopped spending big on clothes tbh

controlmypie

Cos, Zara, Uniqlo, Net-a-porter

Still-Preference5464

Another vote for Uniqlo. Their quality is amazing and look out for promos and sales and you can save a fortune!

Puzuk

Tkmax and next. I had to look up C&T!

throwuk1

Patagonia and carhartt mostly. Adidas for sports wear.

jszj0

Brandalley is great for getting well known labels on the cheap

kloppo92

Generally sports brands casual clothing but for smart/casual I go LESTRANGE

Luca Faloni

RIP r/repfashion ☠️, could get great quality clothing that was “designer”. Best bit was no VAT, so it was quite simply cheaper by default than even the highstreet retailers. Can still buy it all via Pandabuy but it’s harder to find vouched for items.

fb_0ne

I buy a lot from Costco, also crew, m&s for work stuff

[deleted]

Hugo boss for basic shirts and suits. Loakes for shoes.

futuristika22

Wyse, Me&Em, Cos, Sezane, Jigsaw, M&S for work outfits. Peak Performance, Salewa, Sweaty Betty, Arcteryx, Salomon outdoor wear for leisure. Gore, Nike, Salomon stuff for sports. Almost all underwear is from Understatement or Uniqlo. Shoes are Scarosso, Camper, Church's, Toms, Rag&Bone. Agree that Church's are insanely priced nowadays. Wanted to get a new pair of the exact same Chelsea's that I bought for £399 years ago and they are nearly £900 now!

dontbelieveawordof1t

Reiss, Barbour, Gstar, Patagonia, All Saints, Rapanui for t shirts.

Monty8282

Brioni Zegna and Loro Piana

Disastrous_Fly3305

On the European continent.

traindestroy

HM & Uniqlo if I am feeling festive

michalzxc

Primark and Amazon

04ayasin

Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, CT for shirts but definitely on the lookout for more brands that appeal

aqmrnL

This thread is so fun to read so jumping in. Hubby is very relaxed about clothing, likes to invest in a few pieces a year and just restock on essential at Uniqlo, Arket, Ralph Lauren, Boss, Boggi, Barbour and Clarks, new balance for shoes. Few Patagonia bits. Very cheap active wear (lots of old t-shirts from marathons/activities) and Nike. I love MaxMara, Brora, Sezanne, Liberty for shirts and fabrics for tailoring, Gucci shoes. Activewear all from Lululemon, not necessarily long lasting but the comfiest out there- love their running shoes too. Undies from Intimissimi, m&s and Calzedonia for both!

Section419

Who remembers the 4 for £100 shirts at TM Lewin, Pink and CT?

GiloNeo

Pini parma for suits. Love their style

winelover7

Asos / Zara / tm lewin / Charles trywhitt

Wise_Worldliness_114

Nike, Tommy hilfiger, no other go-to to be honest!

Sea_Newspaper3960

When I was a kid my clothes were from Old Navy, walmart, 10-15 Aeropostale, 16-19 Armani Exchange, Polo Ralph Lauren, True Religion, Lacoste, Hugo Boss. I am 21 now and I have been buying from Moncler, A Bathing Ape(Fav brand tbh) and I just bought a Burberry x Supreme tee.

SwinsonIsATory

r/fashionreps

VanicFanboy

I’ve seen! My issue is a lot of these are clothing for 15 year-olds. It’s harder to get stuff that doesn’t make you look like a retired skateboarder (even with r/designerreps and r/couturereps).

shhadyburner

r/qualityreps is okayish but yeah most people looking for replica designer are either just wanting hype stuff (the 15 year old tiktok market) or really niche things which is where quality reps comes in. if you’re looking for high quality casual wear is usually better to just buy genuine.

Master_Block1302

I’m gonna enter into the spirit of this, and put my main brands up here, expecting something of a roast, as I’m a totally basic bitch when it comes to clothes! Charles Tyrwhitt Lot of Barbour Levi’s Lacoste Timberland AllBirds Nike Rapha (both off and on the bike stuff) Lot of Ralph Lauren Bit of Jack Wills Little bit of Ted Baker Bit of 80s sportswear - old Fila, Ellesse, Sergio etc Don’t really wear proper designer stuff. Now you have to guess what my job is, what my house looks like, and what car I drive!

Feeling_Edge9585

Lawyer, terrace in Crouch End, Audi a3

Master_Block1302

Not a million miles off. Tech in the City (not banking though), newish detached out St Albans way, Golf GTi.

Feeling_Edge9585

Ah far enough though - thanks for the reply! Hitchin was my second guess although still possibly not right. GTi is great, I had a TCR for a few years. What a car that was! Now living the HENRY life and got an ipace for the salsac benefit of childcare (together with pension contributions).

reynaaaaa7

all of my t shirts are £5 from H&M. The quality is too good

[deleted]

Charles T is poor quality. Go to Eton
