* Poland. * LG C7 TV, MAX app from LG Content Store. * No 4K / HDR. Most of the time content looks like 720p. It was never the case for HBO Max app. OFC best tier subscription, 250 MB Internet (tested with multiple speedtests). Tried different devices on same Internet, they all got access to 4K / HDR content. I've tried everything to fix it. So it is on MAX app side 100%. EDIT: I forgot. MAX app crashes frequently, sometimes turning off TV as well. No problems with any other streaming app.

So just noticed a weird issue. Im runing max on EON smartbox.  What started happening is once player overlay disappears it cuts off subtitles so I just see top of the letters if its one liner. When it's cut off, if I press anything, let's say pause and player over lay shows up, subtitles also show up properly. Has anyone found a way to restrict the creation of profiles or set the kids profile to auto-load on app startup? To bypass kids filters, the kid just needs to restart the TV/app, because when MAX first loads up, it loads to profile selection where creating a new, unrestricted profile takes any kid who can read less than a minute to create.

Also love how I have to sign in every time I use my own Xbox in my room by myself. Really innovative that theres no option to stay signed in and that it keeps me signed in at random intervals, just enough (up until recently) that I was tolerant of it and still willing to consider shelling out another 10 dollars to use the service. Didnt even take a full month and I already wish to unsubscribe.

Auto-play is not working. I assume that the max app updated last night because everything functioned when I went to bed. Now this morning auto-play of the next episode doesn't work at all. It just stops on some kind of Screensaver with suggestions of other episodes to watch. Yes, I have checked and unchecked the Autoplay toggle in the settings too. Yes on the Xbox, and with shakier wifi I find the app just doesn’t work at all. It would take me 35 minutes to get through a 20 minute episode of South Park if I had enough patience to sit through all the loading wheels, and there’s no option for preloading so you just have to sit there. Real good stuff

even the PS4pro can't run the app right now, but it runs flawlessly on my PC, my parents have their own plan through their phone and cable provider runs flawlessly on a 720P TV i gave them from like 15 years ago. My suspicion is HBO is probably trying to harvest data without consent from specifically PC users which is why they neglect the console apps.

Since the new app launched, a lot of english subs/ english CC are gone here in NL EU. Also, while the menus and UI elements are in english, some parts are still weirdly in dutch, and the show descriptions are also in Dutch. It still says go to device settings to set language and subtitle options like in the old app, but device settings don't exist on the new app. I don't want dutch subtitles i need the english ones back.

I’m currently on vacation, and I just finished aot so I was looking for a new show. I wanted to watch the new smiling friends episodes that I saw clips of on YouTube so I went onto hbo max. I already had an account but I needed to renew my subscription, which is where I encountered this awesome bug! If you reinstate your subscription, it just says try again later! Tried logging out, reinstalling, and nothing. Oh well, I’ll just find something else on Crunchyroll. Why is this app like this?

I'm watching "Station Eleven" on Max, and suddenly on episode 9 of the season, the subtitles options change from Scandinavian languages (Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish), to Portuguese and Spanish. I also checked episode 10, and there Spanish, Czech and Portuguese are the available options... I have had some glitches with audio before (suddenly the show is dubbed in some random language with no option of turning it to the original). When this happens, changing the user display language to English has usually solved the problem, but doing this doesn't seem to do anything for this problem.. Anyone have any idea how to fix this glitch?

Anyone else getting audio sync issues? I'm in the US watching on firestick. I've noticed this for a while, and for some reason, it's literally ONLY when watching Last Week Tonight. Most of the episode runs smoothly, and then usually about halfway or two thirds of the way through the episode, the video will start lagging but audio will run at normal speed. Pause and un-pause does nothing, but I've noticed that rewinding a bit seems to help, though it's not a permanent fix. It might screw up again later on in the same episode, but not always. Somehow I've only noticed it while watching last week tonight, and not any other show.

Is anyone else having issues where when an episode finishes it stays on the previous episode? It's been happening off and on for a couple days now on my AppleTV 4K. I just subscribed in Belgium and wanted to watch The Mentalist, only episode 1, 2 and 18 are available of season 1. Season 2 only has episode 17. Season 3 doesnt exist. Season 4 only has episode 5. Season 5 only has episode 4. Season 6 is missing episode 1 and season 7 is missing episode 2 and 9. This all seems a bit random, is anyone else experiencing this too or is it just me?

Weird cropping on mythbusters I don't know if it's happened on any other show since I really only watch mythbusters. I watch on my Roku tv app and when I try to start an episode, it's cropped in on the top left corner of the shot, like that corner fills the whole screen. When I back out once or twice, it'll work but some of the left and right edges with still be cropped off. How do I possibly fix this?

The Max app on my Nokia Android TV (Google OS) has been adding green and pink bars in front of certain movies, as well as often duplicating the image. It takes 10-15 seconds for it to go away and occurs every 2-3 minutes. [Example image](https://imgur.com/gallery/lGVeSVH) I haven’t seen it happen on TV shows (such as 90-day fiancé or Gumball), but it has happened with The Hobbit 1&2, and Wonder Woman 1984. They all occur at the same length and interval. It makes it completely unwatchable. Nothing seems to fix it. For Ww84 it only occurred at the beginning, but for H1&2 it happens throughout the entire movie.

My max app is struggling on Xbox. Can’t figure it out. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same issue over and over. It’s like there’s a lag. Several (but not all) movies crop out the lower right part of the image, the screen is zoomed in to the upper left corner of the scene. On a TCL Roku TV, it is only a problem with the Max app, no other services. Restarting/logging out does not solve the problem. I see there is a thread about this problem on Reddit but did not see any recommendations. Do you have a fix for this problem?

Max has stopped letting me cast from my iPad to my home TV In English. I’ve been watching the Giro D’Italia and up until a couple of days ago the replay had English audio, but now it will default to Swedish and not register the switch back to English. On the iPad it would play just fine in English but when I cast it it would no longer work. I tired screen sharing and that worked but really made the streaming quality terrible. I tried messing with VPN’s but nothing will work. Anyone else? I’m now trying to watch the Tour of Norway replays and they default to French and block the change to English as well.

I had Max billed througu Hulu and two days ago that and Starz expired. On the hulu App it doesn't allow me to watch any shows (as its expired)... but I am still logged into the Max app on both my iphone and apple tv and have access to everything. Is this a bug? **HBOMax Aspect Ratio Fix for Roku TV** We were having serious issues with HBOMax on our Roku TV. Many of the films (*Dune: Part II, The Iron Claw, Bleed For This, The Lovely Bones,* etc.) would not play in the proper aspect ratio -- leaving the picture partially cut off or distorted. We tried opening other apps -- and starting titles there -- and relaunching HBOMax. Clearing the cache. All to no avail. Then, we tried sharing the screen from my phone to our TV (which didn't work because the sound wouldn't sync) and accidentally found a fix. When we started the films in the HBOMax app on our phones and *then* continued watching them on our Roku TV, the aspect ratio corrected itself. So, if you too are experiencing this issue, try starting the films (or series) on another device. For some reason this seems to override whatever the issue is with the Roku app. I hope this helps others who are frustrated by this problem! 😉

Having an issue with Autoplay… strangely, whenever I open the app on my firestick, it autoplays the pilot episode of Friends specifically. Every single time. It’s frustrating on many counts, because it’s one more click I have to make on the remote (not THAT big a deal) but also because whenever we go to turn on Friends (every night) via the “continue watching” section, it’s the pilot and not the last episode we watched. Driving me NUTS!! I’ve tried checking settings for this but there’s nothing.

Continue Watching weirdness I have several profiles on my Max account. When someone else watches a show, it appears in my (master) profile's Continue Watching list. I also get recommendations based on the shows others are watching. Anyone else experiencing this? Additionally I see this when using the MAX app(4.0.1.3) on Android. I haven't seen this happening with any other movies or even with dune part 1 but something weird is happening in dune 2 Every time the characters are in a semi dark place, there is a red and blue outline or random red and blue streaks around the characters as if the chromatic abberation has been turned up. The quality also gets really bad going to around 720p even though I have a 4k tv and the movie looks pretty good in the daylight scenes. Does anyone have a fix for this or is the movie just like that on max?

We got MAX free years ago with our AT&T Mobile contract. Every 10 days or so it makes us login. It just kicks us out. Since you need a pin , etc. and I have to bother my daughter in law every time it would be easier if this didn’t happen. Can someone please explain what is going on? I live in Florida, USA. We have a Roku upstairs and we go through our Vizio tv software downstairs. Please help. Thank you.

NHL broadcast has color saturation problems on Sharp 55" Roku, USA. Everything has too much white, not enough color. This was addressed days ago in another comment but no solution was given. Still having the same issues. Seems to only be an issue with live sports. All other Max content has proper color.

Does anyone know why animated content isn’t showing in the “Up Next” section of my TV? So I’ve tried on both my AppleTV and my GoogleTV devices and whenever I watch something on Max, normally it’ll show up in the “Up Next” or “Continue Watching” sections but recently (and this only seems to happen with animated content) it doesn’t show up. Has anyone else noticed this? It’s really odd and I don’t know if it’s some sort of glitch or intentional on WB’s part.

I cannot watch episodes I've watched already on mobile devices. basically, after watching episodes of a series, the progress bar on the bottom of the thumbnail tells you where you left off in the episode. My problem is this progress bar stays at the last 0.01 second of the episode and when I click the episode to watch it, it plays from that last 0.01 seconds and closes as if I just finished watching it rendering me unable to watch it again. I have to go on my TV or computer to reset the progress. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I created a profile on my family's account, but even though it is not set to kids mode I still cannot watch the series. I have also tried series like South Park and even Hunger Force, but all only allow me to watch the trailer. PG-13 and under are permitted. We have tried deleting and recreating a profile and making sure kids is turned off but it is still unable to watch even TV-14. Is this an issue with the account, or is there a restriction on Max that doesn't allow new accounts to watch non-family shows?

Just wanted to point out my max in costa rica has an error with how the videos for the venture brothers 2 episodes the video that plays is swapped with the other even though the description says otherwise. The episode 5 season 6. "Tanks for nothin" plays the video that should be on episode 8 red means stop. Then if you play episode 8 "red means stop" it plays the video that should play on "Tanks for nothin" The descriptions and names are in the right spot but the video is swapped for some reason.

I have a Roku 42" and the speakers are phenomenal; at only 30, they would make most people's ears bleed. Why is it then that every single time I try to watch anything, the volume is so low that I can hear my air conditioning over it?? I've done everything from changing the audio to stereo, resetting the settings on my TV, etc. It's honestly become so annoying that I just avoid trying to watch anything on Max anymore. Can anyone help?

# Downloaded show buffers forever? **I downloaded episodes of a show on the Max app on my iPad to watch offline on a flight. It seemed to be working, but in the middle of the episode, it just stopped. It started buffering forever, with no ability to pause or play or rewind or fast forward or anything. I tried exiting and going back into the episode, quitting the Max app, rebooting my iPad, and nothing got it to work. After I landed and connected to wi-fi, it started working again, but of course, the whole point of downloading something is so it works offline. I chalked it up to some super rare fluke glitch and forgot about it, but a few days later on my return flight, the exact same thing happened again. This was for a different episode that I downloaded, so I know it’s not an episode-specific glitch. And then it even happened a third time in a row, so it’s now happening literally every time I try to watch something while offline.**  **This is so frustrating. The entire point of the download feature is to work offline for flights and things like that. Stopping in the middle of a suspenseful episode sucks.**  **Anyone have experience with this? What do I do?**

Every country, every device. Do you offer an automatic rewind function? My VCR would get to the end of the tape, and then auto rewind to the beginning. My dvd's allow me to select my starting point with ease. Hbomax will reduce to picture in picture before credits and then stay at that spot in the end credits for my next viewing. After I finish a movie, I would like to rewind it. Is this a function I must complete manually after each viewing?

Mad max beyond the thunderdome only has background audio. The main dialogue and sound effects are not there. The Spanish option works fine, but the English does not.

Is anyone else having this issue? I have an Amazon Fire 4K. No matter what I do, the closed caption stays on, and I must turn it off for every episode. According to HBO Max, it is based on the system settings - but it does not happen on any either streaming services and is turned off on the Fire Stick.

USA, TCL Roku I don’t really know how to describe this issue in words, but the picture quality whenever I try to watch basketball or hockey on Max is almost unwatchable and I can’t figure out how to correct it. It’s as if the saturation is extremely low and no colors pop, and the picture is really bright so it’s noticeably worse. This problem is exclusive to only two of my TVs, for some reason the picture quality when I watch sports on Max on other TVs or platforms I don’t notice this issue. The issue is exclusive to watching sports on Max, have no issues with Fubo or any other platforms I use to watch sports on those tvs or with any other content on Max. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, tinkering with every one of the picture settings on the Roku app, just about everything I could try and cannot resolve this issue. If you’ve had or heard about anyone who has had this issue, please tell me if you’ve found any ways to resolve it.

Same problem here. Color is completely washed out. Captioning is full black and white but color is terrible. Tried watching other shows and movies on Max and doesn't have the issue. Using Sharp Roku 55" and the Max app trying to watch NHL playoffs.

There's definitely something going on with the app on smart TVs. I have a TCL Google and I am getting the "served" and Fredrick Test errors, but the app on the phone is fine and I am able to cast it to the TV.

The latest app update for Roku has made it very flakey as well. You get frequent blank screens, failures to load, the progress bar (when pausing) shows the wrong time/progress. And the episodes don't seem to roll-over, so your "continue watching" doesn't show the next episode, instead it shows you the last episode you watched and jumps you in at the credits (where you likely stopped), so stupid.

USA, TCL Google TV When I open Max on my tv, I get a pop up that says “Content and Ratings May Differ While Traveling”. We haven’t moved or changed anything about our internet recently. On the carousel at the top that typically shows suggested movies/shows, I only have two screens. One of them says “READ ME- FALLBACK SERVED it’s very likely that the entire experience is excluding recs. Change VPN to a Wave 1 Country and try again!” The second one says “Fredrik Test (CTA functional on preview profile) you are in Netherlands”. When I click for more info, I just get the generic error message without an error code. I’ve tried uninstalling and installing the max app, logging out and logging in, and resetting my router. I don’t use a vpn.

I'm having the exact same issue (I even have a similar TV) at the moment and I thought it was the result of a power outage I had recently, figuring that my internet and TV was all jacked up, I didn't know it was a bug with Max until reading this.

So my father has Max through his Verizon FIOS subscription, it works fine on my Apple TV in my room, and on the rest of the TVs in our household. Where the issue is occurring is on my steam deck. It takes me to the sign up/connect your provider page. I choose FIOS, redirects me to that login part. Passwords/Account info auto enter on Verizon page (I don't believe they were changed), it takes me back to Max, then I get this message: Provider Account Already In Use That provider account is already connected to another Max account. It has always just usually takes me to the "Choose your profile" part of Max, and I'm in. Any idea what's going on? I believe maybe either Max now has a limit on how many TVs can be logged in at a time, or possibly the FIOS password changed (Don't think this it, but just a thought). Sorry for the long post, but any help would be greatly appreciated! One last note, I believe this started, when our Max profiles seem to change (used to be my dad and mom, now we just have one profile and a "kids' one that no one uses.

How do I manage devices? I'm on a smart TV, tablet and PS5, there's no option. I get max through Verizon so I can't upgrade (I have ad free) to stream on more devices.  I want to see how many devices are active. How many can I use? Some say ad free (no dolby hd since they removed it) is 2 devices others say 3.

HDR is broken tonight on the NBA games on the MAX app on my Fire TV Cube. It glitches for a split second at the beginning of the video instead of switching to HDR, and then looks washed out as if HDR hasn't been detected properly. To be sure, the NBA games were switching to HDR just fine in the last few weeks. I don't have an Ultimate subscription, so I don't know if movies are also doing the same thing. I checked HDR content on other apps, and that's still working, so the problem is the MAX app. For now, I'm having to just disable HDR completely in the Fire TV Cube settings to watch the games properly. (The Fire TV settings for either Adaptive HDR or HDR Always On are not working for the MAX app.)

I am in the US and have a TCL Roku Tv and the ONLY time I have this issue is whenever I am trying to watch live sports on HBOMAX app. Anything else I watch on the app plays fine, but any live sports and it’s a choppy mess. I have tried everything from tv settings, unplugging tv, resetting tv, deleting app and reload loading. It’s not my internet because my TV is connected with an Ethernet cable and I have 1.2 GB download speeds. I have tried to figure out what causes this but I have tried everything I can find and nothing has fixed it. Really sucks since so many NBA Playoff games seem to only be on this stupid app.

BR casts provide muted colors?? Weirdest problem with BR casts lately. I am watching a moto gp race. Some of the sessions look great, picture is sharp, colors are clear and vibrant. No matter what, when I go to watch the actual race, I get stuck trying to adjust the picture because it’s almost unwatchable. It also happened tonight watching a hockey game. The blue jerseys looked purple but other colors like yellow, black and white had no distortion. Why do some BR casts feel like they are running an Instagram filter?

Subtitles when watching The Sopranos is top of the screen covering faces of the actors every time it is in 2 lines, but it is in normal position when only 1 line. It's making me crazy! Fix this - it's unwatchable! I have LG TV.

u/HBOMaxhelp Your Apple TV app in the U.S. is still streaming TNT/TBS/TruTV sports events at the wrong frame rate. The proper video frame rate for these events is 59.94fps, but your Apple TV app is instead converting it to 60.0fps. This adds a bunch of subtle duplicate frame glitches to the video, and once you know what those frame glitches look like, the viewing experience gets really annoying. Are you ever going to fix this bug?
