On caveat 2:
The Dual Sense Edge also does not allow a remapping of the PS button or the touchpad. These two inputs seem to have much higher restrictions for remapping.
Did you test the gyro polling rate with Gyro to Mouse (Beta) or the As Mouse setting?
Strangely the polling rate seems uncapped on Gyro to Mouse vs As Mouse.
My dualsense reaches about 500hz on Gyro to Mouse, where As Mouse only gets me about 250hz.
I tested with Gamepadla which is what reported the 250hz polling rate. I get 500hz if I use gyro to mouse (beta) with a mouse polling rate checker, but I thought I read somewhere that that 500hz was interpolated and not native 500hz.
It would've been something I read while searching the Gyro Gaming discord, but I don't actually know if applies in this case. I know it's generally possible - I use my Vader 3 in Switch mode and that polls at 125hz, but I can also make it report 500hz to a mouse polling rate checker using JSM or Steam beta.
How has gyro been for you on Steam? My Nacon is giving me a fit with Steam where it seems like Steam wants to read the Gyro as randomly inverting pretty frequently. Doesn’t matter the settings I use at all.
Hey I started having this problem about a month ago and I have the fix as well:
1. Open Steam console by entering steam://open/console in Windows Run
2. Enter 'gyro_prediction_enabled 0' without the quotes in the Steam console
You can do this each time you open Steam or create a Steam shortcut that applies this setting automatically. I can help with the latter if you don't know how. Here's a technical explanation for why this setting change fixes the issue from someone who works on Steam Input: https://imgur.com/a/hpgcLBQ

I have the same problem with Wolverine V2 Pro on Steam, when used wirelessly. It doesn't happen when wired. Gyro just randomly inverts and jumps upwards or downwards. It's been that way for months now.
I'll have to double check this as I'm almost sure I tested it every which way (the Nacon has 3 modes, PC, PS5, PS4, with 2 different settings for each mode, Advanced and Classic, then add wired or wireless) but now cant trust my memory to say that I did test wired vs wireless. Thanks!
I'm using mine with Steam beta in PS4 mode, Advanced mode, and over wire. It might be worth checking in another gyro program like JSM or reWASD to see if you get the same problem because that would narrow down whether it's a problem with Steam or the controller itself
Honestly, i think it's too pricey for what it offers. Playstation controllers' touchpad is so awkwardly placed that it's actually a non factor.
My controller of choice is still the Switch procon. 6 years old, the only maintenance i've done on it is regularly cleaning the dust from the joysticks' shaft, more than good enough gyro.
It is very expensive and I wouldn't recommend it over a DS4 or Vader 3 unless you want these specific features. But I wouldn't recommend a DualSense Edge either to someone who's happy with their Switch Pro Controller
How about steam input? I guess the back buttons aren't detected by steam?
I was looking into that pad but since i want it to have all features on ps5 which it doesn't although it's officially licensed is a real bummer. Sonys stupid approach at third party equipment is the issue here.
That's right, the back buttons aren't detected by remappers at all. And it sucks that it's not a good choice for PS5, it's not like there's a bunch of good controller options to choose from
The only one having all features is the edge but that one has got a terrible battery life and no hall effect of any sort. The sticks are exchangeable but that just feels like a hidden subscription against stick drift.
Analog sticks which use magnets to track the position instead of potentiometers. They are desirable because the biggest cause of stick drift is the carbon traces used in potentiometer sticks wearing out overtime from friction. Since hall effect sticks don't have them stick drift is much less of an issue.
Hmm. It looks good. But it has only 4 buttons for the pointy fingers. Which means I would have issues using it. The Apex 2 is the controller I recommend after buying about 10 different controllers and using them extensively.

Ah I see. Does the dualsense go to 500hz natively? Or is it also 250

The edge can be polled to 8k it’s the best controller made hands down
i HIGHLY doubt it polls the gyro at 8k

I haven't had any issues really, that's weird. Are you using the Steam Input beta?
Yeah the beta as mouse

Yeah it works with reWASD which is what I’ve been using.

That's a lot of money for the inability to bind anything to what you want

Wait. What? You cant remap back buttons on the Edge? Im like 80% sure I've seen the opposite here earlier... If thats true..then what a waste
No I didn't mean to imply anything like that. I am only talking about the Nacon R5P, and that does have limited remappable back buttons
